There, she obtained her Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary's University, and her Juris Doctor from Dalhousie University's Schulich School of Law.</p><p>At Dalhousie, Laura was a member of the Wellness Committee, Pro-bono Students Canada, and also spent a semester working at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Clinic. After law school, Laura articled in Ottawa at a prominent criminal defence firm before moving further west to Calgary.</p><p>Since being called to the Alberta Bar in 2014, Laura has practiced primarily in family law. A detail-oriented person with a business background, Laura has never met a spreadsheet she didn’t like. She also has a keen interest in psychology and conflict resolution and believes that clients are best served through the use of alternative dispute resolution processes when appropriate. With that said, Laura is comfortable and experienced in Court and understands its necessity as a tool in providing interim and final resolution, moving matters forward, and bringing parties to the negotiating table.</p><p>Laura is a trained mediator having completed the Legal Education Society of Alberta’s Certificate in Mediation of Family and Divorce Conflicts. She enjoys working with families to create comprehensive, detailed resolutions that set them up for success long-term. Her current focus is on assisting self-represented parties in resolving the terms of their separation, as well as parenting and support issues, and is working towards becoming a Parenting Coordinator.</p><p>Laura is an animal lover who volunteers her time fostering animals through various organizations in the Calgary area.
