It's been a while, hasn't it <img class="smilies" src="./../images/smilies/icon_smile2.gif" width="15" height="15" alt="^_^" title="Smile"> So, what grander way to return than with a shiny new campaign after all these years, right?<br> <br> Ladies, gentlemen and all other identities, I present you... the story of the heroes and heroines who preceded Myra, Akhen and Tenma.<br> <br> <span style="font-size:200%;line-height:116%">A Song of the Winds!</span><br> <br> <em class="text-italics">Every era has its heroes and heroines. Before the song of Myra, the odyssey of Akhen Wadjet and the aria of Tenma Yozora, there was the song of the winds that echoed in the mountains and halls at the heart of the Great Continent. Follow young Maat of Hiera'Shirsha and Prince Abhai of Garet-Desh in the war that set the stage for one of the greatest upheavals Irdya has ever witnessed. (Prequel to the Dragon Trilogy; SP campaign, 43 scenarios, including some dialogue-only)</em><br> <br> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/eFAR8Yk.png" class="postimage" alt="Image"><br> <br> A little backstory on this campaign's creation: <div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px"><div class="quotetitle" style="vertical-align:middle;display:inline-block"><strong>Spoiler:</strong> <input class="button1" style="font-size:0.8em" type="button" value="Show" onclick="if (this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].style.display != '') { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].style.display = ''; this.value = 'Hide'; this.innerText = ''; } else { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].style.display = 'none'; this.value = 'Show'; this.innerText = ''; }"></div><div class="quotecontent" style="display:none">So, the idea for this story came to me back in December 2015, and in January 2016 I started writing the first scenarios, even preparing the portraits of the main characters. But 2016 turned out to be a super busy year (I started teaching then, and what a time-consuming career that is), so the writing got slowed to nearly a halt. In 2017 I resumed working on it, and I was confident that by the end of that year I'd have it ready. But 2017 was the first of some pretty complicated years in my life; for this campaign (and most my writings) that meant a severe writer's block.<br> <br> Then, in late 2019, I finally managed to return to the writing, and I actually finished it. As 2020 began, I resumed working on the coding, the maps, etc. I was super enthusiastic about the story I was telling, and I was confident I'd finish the campaign in a couple months.<br> <br> Then Covid struck, and things kinda derailed in my life. As much as I enjoy this game, it's not a source of money for me so I had to focus on stuff that was.<br> <br> At the end of 2020, I managed to get some stuff done in my life, and as this year began I decided I'd finish A Song of the Winds - after all, I hate leaving unfinished stories, especially those I'm excited about. I've spent basically my whole vacations working on it nonstop, and now, finally, this campaign which I've been working on for 5 years is finally done.<br> <br> I'm not sure how many people play my other campaigns nowadays; I'm not sure many of my older fans (hope I don't sound arrogant calling them that ^^) are still around, and I'm not sure people were ever even interested in following the story of those characters who were already famed heroes when Myra's story began - Maat and Abhai among them. But A Song of the Winds fills many of the gaps in the lore of my little series (while also exploring some of the established Wesnoth lore), and adds to what had been told in my other campaigns; but most importantly, this is a story I'm excited to tell.
