a nature-inspired algorithm, and its implementation in the Scratch/m-Block programming environment. The Ant Colony Optimization is a part of Swarm Intelligence-based algorithms and is a subset of biological-inspired algorithms. Starting with a problem in which one has a maze and needs to find its path to the center and return to the starting position. This is similar to an ant looking for a path to a food source and returning to its nest. Starting with the implementation of a simple wall follower simulator, the proposed solution uses a dynamic graphical interface that allows young students to observe the ants’ movement while the algorithm optimizes the routes to the maze’s center. Things like interface usability, Data structures, and the conversion of algorithmic language to Scratch syntax were some of the details addressed during this implementation. This gives young students an easier way to understand the computational concepts of sequences, loops, parallelism, data, events, and conditionals, as they are used through all the implemented algorithms. Future work includes the simulation results with real contest mazes and two different pheromone update methods and the comparison with the optimized results of the winners of each one of the editions of the contest. It will also include the creation of a Digital Twin relating the virtual simulator with a real micromouse in a full-size maze. The first test results show that the algorithm found the same optimized solutions that were found by the winners of each one of the editions of the Micromouse contest making this a good solution for maze pathfinding. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nature%20inspired%20algorithms" title="nature inspired algorithms">nature inspired algorithms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scratch" title=" scratch"> scratch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=micromouse" title=" micromouse"> micromouse</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=problem-solving" title=" problem-solving"> problem-solving</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computational%20thinking" title=" computational thinking"> computational thinking</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152186/solving-a-micromouse-maze-using-an-ant-inspired-algorithm" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152186.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">126</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">634</span> The Effect of the Hemispheres of the Brain and the Tone of Voice on Persuasion</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rica%20Jell%20de%20Laza">Rica Jell de Laza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20Alberto%20Fernandez"> Jose Alberto Fernandez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andrea%20Marie%20Mendoza"> Andrea Marie Mendoza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qristin%20Jeuel%20Regalado"> Qristin Jeuel Regalado</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study investigates whether participants experience different levels of persuasion depending on the hemisphere of the brain and the tone of voice. The experiment was performed on 96 volunteer undergraduate students taking an introductory course in psychology. The participants took part in a 2 x 3 (Hemisphere: left, right x Tone of Voice: positive, neutral, negative) Mixed Factorial Design to measure how much a person was persuaded. Results showed that the hemisphere of the brain and the tone of voice used did not significantly affect the results individually. Furthermore, there was no interaction effect. Therefore, the hemispheres of the brain and the tone of voice employed play insignificant roles in persuading a person. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dichotic%20listening" title="dichotic listening">dichotic listening</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brain%20hemisphere" title=" brain hemisphere"> brain hemisphere</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tone%20of%20voice" title=" tone of voice"> tone of voice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=persuasion" title=" persuasion "> persuasion </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62379/the-effect-of-the-hemispheres-of-the-brain-and-the-tone-of-voice-on-persuasion" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62379.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">306</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">633</span> Make Up Flash: Web Application for the Improvement of Physical Appearance in Images Based on Recognition Methods</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Stefania%20Arguelles%20Reyes">Stefania Arguelles Reyes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Octavio%20Jos%C3%A9%20Salcedo%20Parra"> Octavio José Salcedo Parra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20Acosta%20L%C3%B3pez"> Alberto Acosta López</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents a web application for the improvement of images through recognition. The web application is based on the analysis of picture-based recognition methods that allow an improvement on the physical appearance of people posting in social networks. The basis relies on the study of tools that can correct or improve some features of the face, with the help of a wide collection of user images taken as reference to build a facial profile. Automatic facial profiling can be achieved with a deeper study of the Object Detection Library. It was possible to improve the initial images with the help of MATLAB and its filtering functions. The user can have a direct interaction with the program and manually adjust his preferences. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Matlab" title="Matlab">Matlab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=make%20up" title=" make up"> make up</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recognition%20methods" title=" recognition methods"> recognition methods</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=web%20application" title=" web application"> web application</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108091/make-up-flash-web-application-for-the-improvement-of-physical-appearance-in-images-based-on-recognition-methods" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108091.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">144</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">632</span> An Extended X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure Study of CoTi Thin Films</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20Alberto%20Duarte%20Moller">Jose Alberto Duarte Moller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cynthia%20Deisy%20Gomez%20Esparza"> Cynthia Deisy Gomez Esparza</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The cobalt-titanium system was grown as thin films in an INTERCOVAMEX V3 sputtering system, equipped with four magnetrons assisted by DC pulsed and direct DC. A polished highly oriented (400) silicon wafer was used as substrate and the growing temperature was 500 oC. Xray Absorption Spectroscopy experiments were carried out in the SSRL in the 4-3 beam line. The Extenden X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure spectra have been numerically processed by WINXAS software from the background subtraction until the normalization and FFT adjustment. Analyzing the absorption spectra of cobalt in the CoTi2 phase we can appreciate that they agree in energy with the reference spectra that corresponds to the CoO, which indicates that the valence where upon working is Co2+. The RDF experimental results were then compared with those RDF´s generated theoretically by using FEFF software, from a model compound of CoTi2 phase obtained by XRD. The fitting procedure is a highly iterative process. Fits are also checked in R-space using both the real and imaginary parts of Fourier transform. Finally, the presence of overlapping coordination shells and the correctness of the assumption about the nature of the coordinating atom were checked. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=XAS" title="XAS">XAS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EXAFS" title=" EXAFS"> EXAFS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FEFF" title=" FEFF"> FEFF</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CoTi" title=" CoTi"> CoTi</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87384/an-extended-x-ray-absorption-fine-structure-study-of-coti-thin-films" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87384.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">296</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">631</span> Digitalization in Aggregate Quarries</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Eugenio%20Ortiz">José Eugenio Ortiz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pierre%20Plaza"> Pierre Plaza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Josefa%20Herrero"> Josefa Herrero</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Iv%C3%A1n%20Cabria"> Iván Cabria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Luis%20Blanco"> José Luis Blanco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javier%20Gavilanes"> Javier Gavilanes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Ignacio%20Escavy"> José Ignacio Escavy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ignacio%20L%C3%B3pez-Cilla"> Ignacio López-Cilla</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Virginia%20Yag%C3%BCe"> Virginia Yagüe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C%C3%A9sar%20P%C3%A9rez"> César Pérez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Silvia%20Rodr%C3%ADguez"> Silvia Rodríguez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jorge%20Rico"> Jorge Rico</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cecilia%20Serrano"> Cecilia Serrano</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jes%C3%BAs%20Bernat"> Jesús Bernat</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The development of Artificial Intelligence services in mining processes, specifically in aggregate quarries, is facilitating automation and improving numerous aspects of operations. The city of Murcia is selected as case study, and the location-based social network Foursquare is the main source of information. After carrying out a reorganisation of the user-generated data extracted from Foursquare, it is possible to graphically display on a map the various city spaces and venues –especially those related to commercial, food and entertainment sector businesses. The obtained visualisation provides information about activity patterns in the city of Murcia according to the people`s interests and preferences and, moreover, interesting facts about certain characteristics of the town itself. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20networks" title="social networks">social networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20analysis" title=" spatial analysis"> spatial analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20visualization" title=" data visualization"> data visualization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geocomputation" title=" geocomputation"> geocomputation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Foursquare" title=" Foursquare"> Foursquare</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19260/using-data-from-foursquare-web-service-to-represent-the-commercial-activity-of-a-city" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19260.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">426</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">629</span> Prevalence of Human Papillomavirus in Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions and Cervical Cancer in Women of the North of Chihuahua, Mexico</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Estefania%20Ponce-Amaya">Estefania Ponce-Amaya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ana%20Lidia%20Arellano-Ortiz"> Ana Lidia Arellano-Ortiz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cecilia%20Diaz-Hernandez"> Cecilia Diaz-Hernandez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20Alberto%20Lopez-Diaz"> Jose Alberto Lopez-Diaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Antonio%20De%20La%20Mora-Covarrubias"> Antonio De La Mora-Covarrubias</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Claudia%20Lucia%20Vargas-Requena"> Claudia Lucia Vargas-Requena</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mauricio%20Salcedo-Vargas"> Mauricio Salcedo-Vargas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Florinda%20Jimenez-Vega"> Florinda Jimenez-Vega </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cervical Cancer (CC) is the second leading cause of death among women worldwide and it had been associated with a persistent infection of human papillomavirus (HPV). The goal of the current study was to identify the prevalence of HPV infection in women with abnormal Pap smear who were attended at Dysplasia Clinic of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Methods: Cervical samples from 146 patients, who attended the Colposcopy Clinic at Sanitary Jurisdiction II of Cd Juarez, were collected for histopathology and molecular study. DNA was isolated for the HPV detection by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) using MY09/011 and GP5/6 primers. The associated risk factors were assessed by a questionnaire. The statistical analysis was performed by ANOVA, using EpiINFO V7 software. Results: HPV infection was present in 142 patients (97.3 %). The prevalence of HPV infection was distributed in a 96% of all evaluated groups, low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL), high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HISIL) and CC. We found a statistical significance (α = <0.05) between gestation and number of births as risk factors. The median values showed an ascending tend according with the lesion progression. However, CC showed a statistically significant difference with respect to the pre-carcinogenic stages. Conclusions: In these Mexican patients exists a high prevalence of HPV infection, and for that reason, we are studying the most prevalent HPV genotypes in this population. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cervical%20cancer" title="cervical cancer">cervical cancer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HPV" title=" HPV"> HPV</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prevalence%20hpv" title=" prevalence hpv"> prevalence hpv</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=squamous%20intraepithelial%20lesion" title=" squamous intraepithelial lesion"> squamous intraepithelial lesion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79528/prevalence-of-human-papillomavirus-in-squamous-intraepithelial-lesions-and-cervical-cancer-in-women-of-the-north-of-chihuahua-mexico" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79528.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">320</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">628</span> Fuzzy Climate Control System for Hydroponic Green Forage Production</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Germ%C3%A1n%20D%C3%ADaz%20Fl%C3%B3rez">Germán Díaz Flórez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carlos%20Alberto%20Olvera%20Olvera"> Carlos Alberto Olvera Olvera</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Domingo%20Jos%C3%A9%20G%C3%B3mez%20Mel%C3%A9ndez"> Domingo José Gómez Meléndez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Francisco%20Eneldo%20L%C3%B3pez%20Monteagudo"> Francisco Eneldo López Monteagudo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent decades, population growth has exerted great pressure on natural resources. Two of the most scarce and difficult to obtain resources, arable land, and water, are closely interrelated, to the satisfaction of the demand for food production. In Mexico, the agricultural sector uses more than 70% of water consumption. Therefore, maximize the efficiency of current production systems is inescapable. It is essential to utilize techniques and tools that will enable us to the significant savings of water, labor and fertilizer. In this study, we present a production module of hydroponic green forage (HGF), which is a viable alternative in the production of livestock feed in the semi-arid and arid zones. The equipment in addition to having a forage production module, has a climate and irrigation control system that operated with photovoltaics. The climate control, irrigation and power management is based on fuzzy control techniques. The fuzzy control provides an accurate method in the design of controllers for nonlinear dynamic physical phenomena such as temperature and humidity, besides other as lighting level, aeration and irrigation control using heuristic information. In this working, firstly refers to the production of the hydroponic green forage, suitable weather conditions and fertigation subsequently presents the design of the production module and the design of the controller. A simulation of the behavior of the production module and the end results of actual operation of the equipment are presented, demonstrating its easy design, flexibility, robustness and low cost that represents this equipment in the primary sector. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy" title="fuzzy">fuzzy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate%20control%20system" title=" climate control system"> climate control system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydroponic%20green%20forage" title=" hydroponic green forage"> hydroponic green forage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=forage%20production%20module" title=" forage production module"> forage production module</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32666/fuzzy-climate-control-system-for-hydroponic-green-forage-production" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32666.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">397</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">627</span> Amazonian Native Biomass Residue for Sustainable Development of Isolated Communities</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bruna%20C.%20Brasileiro">Bruna C. Economic cycles were originated from policies implemented by successive governments that exploited the resources and have not yet been able to improve the local population's quality of life. These implanted development strategies were based on vertical planning centered on State that didn’t know and showed no interest in know the local needs and potentialities. The future of this region is a challenge that depends on a model of development based on human progress associated to intelligent, selective and environmentally safe exploitation of natural resources settled in renewable and no-polluting energy generation sources – a differential factor of attraction of new investments in a context of global energy and environmental crisis. In this process the planning and support of Brazilian State, local government, and selective international partnership are essential. Residual biomass utilization allows the sustainable development by the integration of production chain and energy generation process which could improve employment condition and income of riversides. Therefore, this research discourses how the use of local residual biomass (açaí lumps) could be an important instrument of sustainable development for isolated communities located at Alcobaça Sustainable Development Reserve (SDR), Tucuruí, Pará State, since in this region the energy source more accessible for who can pay are the fossil fuels that reaches about 54% of final energy consumption by the integration between the açaí productive chain and the use of renewable energy source besides it can promote less environmental impact and decrease the use of fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amazon" title="Amazon">Amazon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomass" title=" biomass"> biomass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=renewable%20energy" title=" renewable energy"> renewable energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title=" sustainability"> sustainability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65822/amazonian-native-biomass-residue-for-sustainable-development-of-isolated-communities" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65822.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">304</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">626</span> The UNESCO Management Plan for Urban Heritage Sites: A Critical Review of Olinda and Porto, in Brazil and Portugal</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Francine%20Morales%20Tavares">Francine Morales Tavares</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20Alberto%20Rio%20Fernandes"> Jose Alberto Rio Fernandes</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The expanding concept of Heritage and the increased relevance of how heritage places relate to their surroundings is associated with an important shift in public heritage policies and how they consider the development of cities and communities, with an increasingly relevant role of management. Within the current discussions, management plans, mandatory since the year 2005 in areas classified by UNESCO as World Heritage, it is a tool for the reconciliation of cultural heritage demands with the needs of multiple users of a certain area, being especially critical in the case of urban areas with intense touristic pressure. Considering the transformations of the heritage policy management model, this paper discusses the practices on the integration of cultural heritage in urban policies through indicators which were selected from resource manual 'Managing Cultural World Heritage (2013)' and analyzed two case studies: The Management Plan of the Historic Centre of Porto (Portugal) and The Management Plan for the Historic Site of Olinda (Brazil). The empirical evidence concluded that for the historic centre of Porto the increase of tourism is the main aim driver in the management plan, with positive and negative aspects on the heritage management point of view, unlike Olinda, where the plan for the development of local urban policies was identified as essential. Plans also differ in form, content and process but coincide on being unaligned with committed local political leaders’ agendas, with the consequent misunderstandings between theory and practice, planning and management, and critically missing in the field integration of urban policies. Therefore, more debate about management plans, more efficient tools and also, appropriate methodologies to correlate cultural heritage and urban public policy are still lacking. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=world%20heritage" title="world heritage">world heritage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=management%20plan" title=" management plan"> management plan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=planning" title=" planning"> planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20policies" title=" urban policies"> urban policies</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/113859/the-unesco-management-plan-for-urban-heritage-sites-a-critical-review-of-olinda-and-porto-in-brazil-and-portugal" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/113859.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">158</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">625</span> The Importance of Mental Health Literacy: Interventions in a Psychiatry Service of Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, Portugal</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mariana%20Mangas">Mariana Mangas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yaroslava%20Martins"> Yaroslava Martins</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ana%20Charraz"> Ana Charraz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ana%20Matos%20Pires"> Ana Matos Pires</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Health literacy empowers people of knowledge, motivation and skills to access, understand, evaluate and mobilize information relating to health. Although the benefits of public knowledge of physical disease are widely accepted, knowledge about mental disorder has been compatibly neglected. Nowadays there is considerably evidence that literacy is of great importance for the promotion of health and prevention of mental illness. Objective: Disclosure the concept and importance of mental health literacy and introduce the literacy program of Psychiatry Service of Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes. Methodology: A search was conducted on PubMed, using keywords “literacy” and “mental health”. A description of mental health literacy interventions implemented on Psychiatry Service of Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes was performed, namely, psychoeducation programs for depression and bipolar disorder. Results and discussion: Health literacy enables patient to be able to actively participate in his treatment. The improving of mental health literacy can promote early identification of mental disorders, improve treatment results, increase the use of health services and allow the community to take action to achieve better mental health. Psychoeducation is very useful in improving the course of disease and in reducing the number of episodes and hospitalizations. Bipolar patients who received psychoeducation and pharmacotherapy have no relapses during the program and last year. Conclusion: Mental health literacy is not simply a matter of having knowledge, rather, it is knowledge linked to action which can benefit mental health. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mental%20health" title="mental health">mental health</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=literacy" title=" literacy"> literacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psychoeducation" title=" psychoeducation"> psychoeducation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knowledge" title=" knowledge"> knowledge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=empowerment" title=" empowerment"> empowerment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58750/the-importance-of-mental-health-literacy-interventions-in-a-psychiatry-service-of-hospital-jose-joaquim-fernandes-portugal" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58750.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">547</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">624</span> Data Centers’ Temperature Profile Simulation Optimized by Finite Elements and Discretization Methods</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Alberto%20Garc%C3%ADa%20Fern%C3%A1ndez">José Alberto García Fernández</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhimin%20Du"> Zhimin Du</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xinqiao%20Jin"> Xinqiao Jin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays, data center industry faces strong challenges for increasing the speed and data processing capacities while at the same time is trying to keep their devices a suitable working temperature without penalizing that capacity. Consequently, the cooling systems of this kind of facilities use a large amount of energy to dissipate the heat generated inside the servers, and developing new cooling techniques or perfecting those already existing would be a great advance in this type of industry. The installation of a temperature sensor matrix distributed in the structure of each server would provide the necessary information for collecting the required data for obtaining a temperature profile instantly inside them. However, the number of temperature probes required to obtain the temperature profiles with sufficient accuracy is very high and expensive. Therefore, other less intrusive techniques are employed where each point that characterizes the server temperature profile is obtained by solving differential equations through simulation methods, simplifying data collection techniques but increasing the time to obtain results. In order to reduce these calculation times, complicated and slow computational fluid dynamics simulations are replaced by simpler and faster finite element method simulations which solve the Burgers&lsquo; equations by backward, forward and central discretization techniques after simplifying the energy and enthalpy conservation differential equations. The discretization methods employed for solving the first and second order derivatives of the obtained Burgers&lsquo; equation after these simplifications are the key for obtaining results with greater or lesser accuracy regardless of the characteristic truncation error. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Burgers%27%20equations" title="Burgers&#039; equations">Burgers&#039; equations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CFD%20simulation" title=" CFD simulation"> CFD simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20center" title=" data center"> data center</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=discretization%20methods" title=" discretization methods"> discretization methods</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FEM%20simulation" title=" FEM simulation"> FEM simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temperature%20profile" title=" temperature profile"> temperature profile</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127455/data-centers-temperature-profile-simulation-optimized-by-finite-elements-and-discretization-methods" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127455.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">169</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">623</span> A Topological Study of an Urban Street Network and Its Use in Heritage Areas</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20L.%20Oliver">Jose L. In the last decades, we find different kinds of approaches in the discipline of Architecture and Urbanism based in the so-called Sciences of Complexity. In this context, this paper uses mathematics from the Network Theory. Hence, it proposes a methodology based in obtaining information from a graph, which is created from a network of urban streets. Then, it is used an algorithm that establishes a ranking of importance of the nodes of that network, from its topological point of view. The results are applied to a heritage area in a particular city, confronting the data obtained from the mathematical model, with the ones from the field work in the case study. As a result of this process, we may conclude the necessity of implementing some actions in the area, and where those actions would be more effective for the whole heritage site. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=graphs" title="graphs">graphs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heritage%20cities" title=" heritage cities"> heritage cities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20analysis" title=" spatial analysis"> spatial analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20networks" title=" urban networks"> urban networks</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67220/a-topological-study-of-an-urban-street-network-and-its-use-in-heritage-areas" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67220.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">396</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">622</span> Approach Based on Fuzzy C-Means for Band Selection in Hyperspectral Images</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diego%20Saqui">Diego Saqui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20H.%20Saito"> José H. A problem in the use of these images is the high volume of data to be processed, stored and transferred. Dimensionality reduction techniques can be used to reduce the volume of data. In this paper, an approach to band selection based on clustering algorithms is presented. This approach allows to reduce the volume of data. The proposed structure is based on Fuzzy C-Means (or K-Means) and NWHFC algorithms. New attributes in relation to other studies in the literature, such as kurtosis and low correlation, are also considered. A comparison of the results of the approach using the Fuzzy C-Means and K-Means with different attributes is performed. The use of both algorithms show similar good results but, particularly when used attributes variance and kurtosis in the clustering process, however applicable in hyperspectral images. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=band%20selection" title="band selection">band selection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20c-means" title=" fuzzy c-means"> fuzzy c-means</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=k-means" title=" k-means"> k-means</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hyperspectral%20image" title=" hyperspectral image"> hyperspectral image</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50614/approach-based-on-fuzzy-c-means-for-band-selection-in-hyperspectral-images" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50614.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">408</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">621</span> Classification of Forest Types Using Remote Sensing and Self-Organizing Maps</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wanderson%20Goncalves%20e%20Goncalves">Wanderson Goncalves e Goncalves</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Alberto%20Silva%20de%20S%C3%A1"> José Alberto Silva de Sá</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Human actions are a threat to the balance and conservation of the Amazon forest. Therefore the environmental monitoring services play an important role as the preservation and maintenance of this environment. This study classified forest types using data from a forest inventory provided by the 'Florestal e da Biodiversidade do Estado do Pará' (IDEFLOR-BIO), located between the municipalities of Santarém, Juruti and Aveiro, in the state of Pará, Brazil, covering an area approximately of 600,000 hectares, Bands 3, 4 and 5 of the TM-Landsat satellite image, and Self - Organizing Maps. The information from the satellite images was extracted using QGIS software 2.8.1 Wien and was used as a database for training the neural network. The midpoints of each sample of forest inventory have been linked to images. Later the Digital Numbers of the pixels have been extracted, composing the database that fed the training process and testing of the classifier. The neural network was trained to classify two forest types: Rain Forest of Lowland Emerging Canopy (Dbe) and Rain Forest of Lowland Emerging Canopy plus Open with palm trees (Dbe + Abp) in the Mamuru Arapiuns glebes of Pará State, and the number of examples in the training data set was 400, 200 examples for each class (Dbe and Dbe + Abp), and the size of the test data set was 100, with 50 examples for each class (Dbe and Dbe + Abp). Therefore, total mass of data consisted of 500 examples. The classifier was compiled in Orange Data Mining 2.7 Software and was evaluated in terms of the confusion matrix indicators. The results of the classifier were considered satisfactory, and being obtained values of the global accuracy equal to 89% and Kappa coefficient equal to 78% and F1 score equal to 0,88. It evaluated also the efficiency of the classifier by the ROC plot (receiver operating characteristics), obtaining results close to ideal ratings, showing it to be a very good classifier, and demonstrating the potential of this methodology to provide ecosystem services, particularly in anthropogenic areas in the Amazon. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20neural%20network" title="artificial neural network">artificial neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computational%20intelligence" title=" computational intelligence"> computational intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pattern%20recognition" title=" pattern recognition"> pattern recognition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unsupervised%20learning" title=" unsupervised learning"> unsupervised learning</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57742/classification-of-forest-types-using-remote-sensing-and-self-organizing-maps" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57742.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">361</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">620</span> Farming Production in Brazil: Innovation and Land-Sparing Effect</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Isabela%20Romanha%20de%20Alcantara">Isabela Romanha de Alcantara</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20Eustaquio%20Ribeiro%20Vieira%20Filho"> Jose Eustaquio Ribeiro Vieira Filho</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20Garcia%20Gasques"> Jose Garcia Gasques</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Innovation and technology can be determinant factors to ensure agricultural and sustainable growth, as well as productivity gains. Technical change has contributed considerably to supply agricultural expansion in Brazil. This agricultural growth could be achieved by incorporating more land or capital. If capital is the main source of agricultural growth, it is possible to increase production per unit of land. The objective of this paper is to estimate: 1) total factor productivity (TFP), which is measured in terms of the rate of output per unit of input; and 2) the land-saving effect (LSE) that is the amount of land required in the case that yield rate is constant over time. According to this study, from 1990 to 2019, it appears that 87 percent of Brazilian agriculture product growth comes from the gains of productivity; the rest of 13 percent comes from input growth. In the same period, the total LSE was roughly 400 Mha, which corresponds to 47 percent of the national territory. These effects reflect the greater efficiency of using productive factors, whose technical change has allowed an increase in agricultural production based on productivity gains. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=agriculture" title="agriculture">agriculture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=land-saving%20effect" title=" land-saving effect"> land-saving effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=livestock" title=" livestock"> livestock</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=productivity" title=" productivity"> productivity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137802/farming-production-in-brazil-innovation-and-land-sparing-effect" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137802.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">231</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">619</span> Association of Dietary Intake with the Nutrition Knowledge, Food Label Use, and Food Preferences of Adults in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, Philippines</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Barby%20Jennette%20A.%20Florano">Barby Jennette A. The aim of this study was to investigate whether nutrition knowledge, food label use, and food preference are associated with the dietary intake in a sample of San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan (SJDM) adults. A sample of 148 adults, with a mean age of 20 years, completed a validated questionnaire related to their demographic, dietary intake, nutrition knowledge, food label use and food preference. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and there was no association between dietary intake and nutrition knowledge. However, there were positive relationships between dietary intake and food label use (r=0.1276, p<0.10), and dietary intake and food preference (r=0.1070, p<0.10). SJDM adults who use food label and have extensive food preference had better diet quality. This finding magnifies the role of nutrition education as a potential tool in health campaigns to promote healthy eating patterns and reading food labels among students and adults. Results of this study can give information for the design of future nutrition education intervention studies to assess the efficacy of nutrition knowledge and food label use among a similar sample population. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dietary%20intake" title="dietary intake">dietary intake</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nutrition%20knowledge" title=" nutrition knowledge"> nutrition knowledge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20preference" title=" food preference"> food preference</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20label%20use" title=" food label use"> food label use</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175413/association-of-dietary-intake-with-the-nutrition-knowledge-food-label-use-and-food-preferences-of-adults-in-san-jose-del-monte-city-bulacan-philippines" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175413.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">91</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">618</span> Ecosystem Services Assessment for Urban Nature-Based Solutions Implemented in the Public Space: Case Study of Alhambra Square in Bogotá, Colombia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diego%20S%C3%A1nchez">Diego Sánchez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sandra%20M.%20Aguilar"> Sandra M. It is often used to characterize polymers and their temperature-dependent behavior, including thermal transitions like the glass transition temperature Tg, via determination of storage and loss moduli in tension (Young’s modulus, E) and shear or torsion (shear modulus, G) or other testing modes. While production and application temperatures for polymers are often limited to several hundred degrees, material properties of glasses usually require characterization at temperatures exceeding 600 °C. This contribution highlights a high temperature setup for rotational and oscillatory rheometry as well as for DMA in different modes. The implemented standard convection oven enables the characterization of glass in different loading modes at temperatures up to 950 °C. Three-point bending, tension and torsional measurements on different glasses, with E and G moduli as a function of frequency and temperature, are presented. Additional tests include superimposing several frequencies in a single temperature sweep (“multiwave”). This type of test results in a considerable reduction of the experiment time and allows to evaluate structural changes of the material and their frequency dependence. Furthermore, DMA in torsion and tension was performed to determine the complex Poisson’s ratio as a function of frequency and temperature within a single test definition. Tests were performed in a frequency range from 0.1 to 10 Hz and temperatures up to the glass transition. While variations in the frequency did not reveal significant changes of the complex Poisson’s ratio of the glass, a monotonic increase of this parameter was observed when increasing the temperature. This contribution outlines the possibilities of DMA in bending, tension and torsion for an extended temperature range. It allows the precise mechanical characterization of material behavior from room temperature up to the glass transition and the softening temperature interval. Compared to other thermo-analytical methods, like Dynamic Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) where mechanical stress is neglected, the frequency-dependence links measurement results (e.g. relaxation times) to real applications <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20mechanical%20analysis" title="dynamic mechanical analysis">dynamic mechanical analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oscillatory%20rheometry" title=" oscillatory rheometry"> oscillatory rheometry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Poisson%27s%20ratio" title=" Poisson&#039;s ratio"> Poisson&#039;s ratio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solid%20glass" title=" solid glass"> solid glass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=viscoelasticity" title=" viscoelasticity"> viscoelasticity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156665/characterizing-solid-glass-in-bending-torsion-and-tension-high-temperature-dynamic-mechanical-analysis-up-to-950-c" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156665.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">83</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">616</span> Visualizing the Commercial Activity of a City by Analyzing the Data Information in Layers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Taras%20Agryzkov">Taras Agryzkov</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20L.%20Oliver"> Jose L. As it is well known, the Theory of Architecture and Urbanism has been using for decades’ intellectual tools based on the ‘sciences of complexity’ as a strategy to propose theoretical approaches about cities and about architecture. In this sense, it is possible to find a vast literature in which for instance network theory is used as an instrument to understand very diverse questions about cities: from their commercial activity to their heritage condition. The contribution of this research consists in adding one step of complexity to this process: instead of working with one single primal graph as it is usually done, we will show how new network models arise from the consideration of two different primal graphs interacting in two layers. When we model an urban network through a mathematical structure like a graph, the city is usually represented by a set of nodes and edges that reproduce its topology, with the data generated or extracted from the city embedded in it. All this information is normally displayed in a single layer. Here, we propose to separate the information in two layers so that we can evaluate the interaction between them. Besides, both layers may be composed of structures that do not have to coincide: from this bi-layer system, groups of interactions emerge, suggesting reflections and in consequence, possible actions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=graphs" title="graphs">graphs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mathematics" title=" mathematics"> mathematics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=networks" title=" networks"> networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20studies" title=" urban studies"> urban studies</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97085/visualizing-the-commercial-activity-of-a-city-by-analyzing-the-data-information-in-layers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97085.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">180</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">615</span> Localization of Radioactive Sources with a Mobile Radiation Detection System using Profit Functions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lu%C3%ADs%20Miguel%20Cabe%C3%A7a%20Marques">Luís Miguel Cabeça Marques</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20Manuel%20Martinho%20Vale"> Alberto Manuel Martinho Vale</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Pedro%20Miragaia%20Trancoso%20Vaz"> José Pedro Miragaia Trancoso Vaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ana%20Sofia%20Baptista%20Fernandes"> Ana Sofia Baptista Fernandes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rui%20Alexandre%20de%20Barros%20Coito"> Rui Alexandre de Barros Coito</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tiago%20Miguel%20Prates%20da%20Costa"> Tiago Miguel Prates da Costa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The detection and localization of hidden radioactive sources are of significant importance in countering the illicit traffic of Special Nuclear Materials and other radioactive sources and materials. Radiation portal monitors are commonly used at airports, seaports, and international land borders for inspecting cargo and vehicles. However, these equipment can be expensive and are not available at all checkpoints. Consequently, the localization of SNM and other radioactive sources often relies on handheld equipment, which can be time-consuming. The current study presents the advantages of real-time analysis of gamma-ray count rate data from a mobile radiation detection system based on simulated data and field tests. The incorporation of profit functions and decision criteria to optimize the detection system's path significantly enhances the radiation field information and reduces survey time during cargo inspection. For source position estimation, a maximum likelihood estimation algorithm is employed, and confidence intervals are derived using the Fisher information. The study also explores the impact of uncertainties, baselines, and thresholds on the performance of the profit function. The proposed detection system, utilizing a plastic scintillator with silicon photomultiplier sensors, boasts several benefits, including cost-effectiveness, high geometric efficiency, compactness, and lightweight design. This versatility allows for seamless integration into any mobile platform, be it air, land, maritime, or hybrid, and it can also serve as a handheld device. Furthermore, integration of the detection system into drones, particularly multirotors, and its affordability enable the automation of source search and substantial reduction in survey time, particularly when deploying a fleet of drones. While the primary focus is on inspecting maritime container cargo, the methodologies explored in this research can be applied to the inspection of other infrastructures, such as nuclear facilities or vehicles. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plastic%20scintillators" title="plastic scintillators">plastic scintillators</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=profit%20functions" title=" profit functions"> profit functions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=path%20planning" title=" path planning"> path planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gamma-ray%20detection" title=" gamma-ray detection"> gamma-ray detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=source%20localization" title=" source localization"> source localization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20radiation%20detection%20system" title=" mobile radiation detection system"> mobile radiation detection system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=security%20scenario" title=" security scenario"> security scenario</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170854/localization-of-radioactive-sources-with-a-mobile-radiation-detection-system-using-profit-functions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170854.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">116</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">614</span> Extending BDI Multiagent Systems with Agent Norms</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Francisco%20Jos%C3%A9%20Pl%C3%A1cido%20da%20Cunha">Francisco José Plácido da Cunha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tassio%20Ferenzini%20Martins%20Sirqueira"> Tassio Ferenzini Martins Sirqueira</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marx%20Leles%20Viana"> Marx Leles Viana</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carlos%20Jos%C3%A9%20Pereira%20de%20Lucena">Carlos José Pereira de Lucena</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Open Multiagent Systems (MASs) are societies in which heterogeneous and independently designed entities (agents) work towards similar, or different ends. Software agents are autonomous and the diversity of interests among different members living in the same society is a fact. In order to deal with this autonomy, these open systems use mechanisms of social control (norms) to ensure a desirable social order. This paper considers the following types of norms: (i) obligation &mdash; agents must accomplish a specific outcome; (ii) permission &mdash; agents may act in a particular way, and (iii) prohibition &mdash; agents must not act in a specific way. All of these characteristics mean to encourage the fulfillment of norms through rewards and to discourage norm violation by pointing out the punishments. Once the software agent decides that its priority is the satisfaction of its own desires and goals, each agent must evaluate the effects associated to the fulfillment of one or more norms before choosing which one should be fulfilled. The same applies when agents decide to violate a norm. This paper also introduces a framework for the development of MASs that provide support mechanisms to the agent&rsquo;s decision-making, using norm-based reasoning. The applicability and validation of this approach is demonstrated applying a traffic intersection scenario. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BDI%20agent" title="BDI agent">BDI agent</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BDI4JADE%20framework" title=" BDI4JADE framework"> BDI4JADE framework</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiagent%20systems" title=" multiagent systems"> multiagent systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=normative%20agents" title=" normative agents"> normative agents</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85259/extending-bdi-multiagent-systems-with-agent-norms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85259.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">232</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">613</span> Urban Networks as Model of Sustainable Design</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agryzkov%20Taras">Agryzkov Taras</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oliver%20Jose%20L."> Oliver Jose L.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tortosa%20Leandro"> Tortosa Leandro</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vicent%20Jose"> Vicent Jose </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper aims to demonstrate how the consideration of cities as a special kind of complex network, called urban network, may lead to the use of design tools coming from network theories which, in fact, results in a quite sustainable approach. There is no doubt that the irruption in contemporary thought of Gaia as an essential political agent proposes a narrative that has been extended to the field of creative processes in which, of course, the activity of Urban Design is found. The rationalist paradigm is put in crisis, and from the so-called sciences of complexity, its way of describing reality and of intervening in it is questioned. Thus, a new way of understanding reality surges, which has to do with a redefinition of the human being's own place in what is now understood as a delicate and complex network. In this sense, we know that in these systems of connected and interdependent elements, the influences generated by them originate emergent properties and behaviors for the whole that, individually studied, would not make sense. We believe that the design of cities cannot remain oblivious to these principles, and therefore this research aims to demonstrate the potential that they have for decision-making in the urban environment. Thus, we will see an example of action in the field of public mobility, another example in the design of commercial areas, and a third example in the field of redensification of sprawl areas, in which different aspects of network theory have been applied to change the urban design. We think that even though these actions have been developed in European cities, and more specifically in the Mediterranean area in Spain, the reflections and tools could have a broader scope of action. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=graphs" title="graphs">graphs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=complexity%20sciences" title=" complexity sciences"> complexity sciences</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20networks" title=" urban networks"> urban networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20design" title=" urban design"> urban design</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/133799/urban-networks-as-model-of-sustainable-design" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/133799.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">154</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">612</span> Variational Evolutionary Splines for Solving a Model of Temporomandibular Disorders</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20Hananel">Alberto Hananel</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this work is to modelize the occlusion of a person with temporomandibular disorders as an evolutionary equation and approach its solution by the construction and characterizing of discrete variational splines. However, nowadays in many countries, the crowdsourced GPS based traffic and navigation apps have emerged as an important source of information to low cost to studies of road traffic accidents and urban congestion caused by them. In this article we identified the zones, roads and specific time in the CDMX in which the largest number of road traffic accidents are concentrated during 2016. We built a database compiling information obtained from the social network known as Waze. The methodology employed was Discovery of knowledge in the database (KDD) for the discovery of patterns in the accidents reports. Furthermore, using data mining techniques with the help of Weka. The selected algorithms was the Maximization of Expectations (EM) to obtain the number ideal of clusters for the data and k-means as a grouping method. Finally, the results were visualized with the Geographic Information System QGIS. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20mining" title="data mining">data mining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=k-means" title=" k-means"> k-means</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=road%20traffic%20accidents" title=" road traffic accidents"> road traffic accidents</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Waze" title=" Waze"> Waze</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Weka" title=" Weka"> Weka</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83804/road-traffic-accidents-analysis-in-mexico-city-through-crowdsourcing-data-and-data-mining-techniques" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83804.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">417</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">610</span> A Theragnostic Approach for Alzheimer’s Disease Focused on Phosphorylated Tau</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tom%C3%A1s%20Sobrino">Tomás Sobrino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lara%20Garc%C3%ADa-Varela"> Lara García-Varela</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marta%20Aramburu-N%C3%BA%C3%B1ez"> Marta Aramburu-Núñez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M%C3%B3nica%20Castro"> Mónica Castro</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noem%C3%AD%20G%C3%B3mez-Lado"> Noemí Gómez-Lado</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mari%C3%B1a%20Rodr%C3%ADguez-Arrizabalaga"> Mariña Rodríguez-Arrizabalaga</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ant%C3%ADa%20Custodia"> Antía Custodia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Juan%20Manuel%20P%C3%ADas-Peleteiro"> Juan Manuel Pías-Peleteiro</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Manuel%20Aldrey"> José Manuel Aldrey</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20Romaus-Sanjurjo"> Daniel Romaus-Sanjurjo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%81ngeles%20Almeida"> Ángeles Almeida</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pablo%20Aguiar"> Pablo Aguiar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20Ouro"> Alberto Ouro</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other tauopathies are primary causes of dementia, causing progressive cognitive deterioration that entails serious repercussions for the patients' performance of daily tasks. Currently, there is no effective approach for the early diagnosis and treatment of AD and tauopathies. This study suggests a theragnostic approach based on the importance of phosphorylated tau protein (p-Tau) in the early pathophysiological processes of AD. We have developed a novel theragnostic monoclonal antibody (mAb) to provide both diagnostic and therapeutic effects. Methods/Results: We have developed a p-Tau mAb, which was doped with deferoxamine for radiolabeling with Zirconium-89 (89Zr) for PET imaging, as well as fluorescence dies for immunofluorescence assays. The p-Tau mAb was evaluated in vitro for toxicity by MTT assay, LDH activity, propidium iodide/Annexin V assay, caspase-3, and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) assay in both mouse endothelial cell line (bEnd.3) and cortical primary neurons cell cultures. Importantly, non-toxic effects (up to concentrations of p-Tau mAb greater than 100 ug/mL) were detected. In vivo experiments in the tauopathy model mice (PS19) show that the 89Zr-pTau-mAb and 89Zr-Fragments-pTau-mAb are stable in circulation for up to 10 days without toxic effects. However, only less than 0.2% reached the brain, so further strategies have to be designed for crossing the Brain-Blood-Barrier (BBB). Moreover, an intraparenchymal treatment strategy was carried out. The PS19 mice were operated to implement osmotic pumps (Alzet 1004) at two different times, at 4 and 7 months, to stimulate the controlled release for one month each of the B6 antibody or the IgG1 control antibody. We demonstrated that B6-treated mice maintained their motor and memory abilities significantly compared with IgG1 treatment. In addition, we observed a significant reduction in p-Tau deposits in the brain. Conclusions /Discussion: A theragnostic pTau-mAb was developed. Moreover, we demonstrated that our p-Tau mAb recognizes very-early pathology forms of p-Tau by non-invasive techniques, such as PET. In addition, p-Tau mAb has non-toxic effects, both in vitro and in vivo. Although the p-Tau mAb is stable in circulation, only 0.2% achieve the brain. However, direct intraventricular treatment significantly reduces cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's animal models, as well as the accumulation of toxic p-Tau species. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alzheimer%27s%20disease" title="alzheimer&#039;s disease">alzheimer&#039;s disease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=theragnosis" title=" theragnosis"> theragnosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tau" title=" tau"> tau</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PET" title=" PET"> PET</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=immunotherapy" title=" immunotherapy"> immunotherapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tauopathies" title=" tauopathies"> tauopathies</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174782/a-theragnostic-approach-for-alzheimers-disease-focused-on-phosphorylated-tau" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174782.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">70</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">609</span> Embracing Circular Economy: Unlocking Sustainable Growth in Emerging Markets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mario%20Jose%20Paillacho%20Silva">Mario Jose Paillacho Silva</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20%C3%81ngel%20P%C3%A9rez%20L%C3%B3pez"> José Ángel Pérez López</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This article delves into the critical role of circular economy principles in unlocking sustainable growth and addressing environmental inequalities in emerging markets. In most façades, a security glazing have to be used according to its performance in the impact pendulum. The European Standard EN 12600 establishes an impact test procedure for classification under the point of view of the human security, of flat plates with different thickness, using a pendulum of two tires and 50 kg mass that impacts against the plate from different heights. However, this test does not replicate the actual dimensions and border conditions used in building configurations and so the real stress distribution is not determined with this test. The influence of different boundary conditions, as the ones employed in construction sites, is not well taking into account when testing the behaviour of safety glazing and there is not a detailed procedure and criteria to determinate the glass resistance against human impact. To reproduce the actual boundary conditions on site, when needed, the pendulum test is arranged to be used "in situ", with no account for load control, stiffness, and without a standard procedure. Fracture stress of small and large glass plates fit a Weibull distribution with quite a big dispersion so conservative values are adopted for admissible fracture stress under static loads. In fact, test performed for human impact gives a fracture strength two or three times higher, and many times without a total fracture of the glass plate. Newest standards, as for example DIN 18008-4, states for an admissible fracture stress 2.5 times higher than the ones used for static and wing loads. Now two working areas are open: a) to define a standard for the ‘in situ’ test; b) to prepare a laboratory procedure that allows testing with more real stress distribution. To work on both research lines a laboratory that allows to test medium size specimens with different border conditions, has been developed. A special steel frame allows reproducing the stiffness of the glass support substructure, including a rigid condition used as reference. The dynamic behaviour of the glass plate and its support substructure have been characterized with finite elements models updated with modal tests results. In addition, a new portable impact machine is being used to get enough force and direction control during the impact test. Impact based on 100 J is used. To avoid problems with broken glass plates, the test have been done using an aluminium plate of 1000 mm x 700 mm size and 10 mm thickness supported on four sides; three different substructure stiffness conditions are used. A detailed control of the dynamic stiffness and the behaviour of the plate is done with modal tests. Repeatability of the test and reproducibility of results prove that procedure to control both, stiffness of the plate and the impact level, is necessary. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=glass%20plates" title="glass plates">glass plates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human%20impact%20test" title=" human impact test"> human impact test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modal%20test" title=" modal test"> modal test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plate%20boundary%20conditions" title=" plate boundary conditions"> plate boundary conditions</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51418/influence-of-glass-plates-different-boundary-conditions-on-human-impact-resistance" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51418.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">307</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">607</span> Microscopic Visualization of the Ice Slurry Ice Particles</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Juan%20Jos%C3%A9%20Mil%C3%B3n%20Guzm%C3%A1n">Juan José Milón Guzmán</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Herbert%20Jes%C3%BAs%20Del%20Carpio%20Beltr%C3%A1n"> Herbert Jesús Del Carpio Beltrán</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sergio%20Leal%20Braga"> Sergio Leal Braga</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Visualizations of ice particles of ice slurry are performed.
