At any given time, we're working towards our next major release while continuing to fix bugs in previous releases. Subversion's release compatibility promises make adoption of our bugfix releases easy — you'll find very few, if any, surprises in those kinds of releases in terms of features and functionality. As such, the release notes issued for a given major release (an X.Y.0 release) remain applicable for patch releases to that release line (an X.Y.Z release). You can find links to these release notes below.

Over time and as new major releases come out, we drop official support for older release lines. You'll also find below the project's official support status for the various release lines available.

Release Notes ¶

Here are the release notes for the major Subversion releases:

Subversion 1.14 – (first released – May 27, 2020)

Subversion 1.13 – (first released – October 30, 2019)

Subversion 1.12 – (first released – April 24, 2019)

Subversion 1.11 – Improved shelving, checkpointing, improved tree conflict resolution (first released – October 30, 2018)

Subversion 1.10 – Improved path-based authz, new interactive conflict resolver, LZ4 compression, FSFS format 8, shelving (first released – April 12, 2018)

Subversion 1.9 – FSFS format 7, FSX (first released – August 5, 2015)

Subversion 1.8 – Automatic merge, client-side rename tracking, inherited properties (first released – June 18, 2013)

Subversion 1.7 – WCNG, v2 protocol, svnrdump (first released – October 11, 2011)

Subversion 1.6 (简体中文) – tree conflicts, FSFS packing, file externals (first released – March 20, 2009)

Subversion 1.5 – merge tracking, sparse checkouts (first released – June 19, 2008)

Subversion 1.4 – flat-file working copy library, svnsync (first released – September 10, 2006)

Subversion 1.3 – general performance improvements (first released – December 30, 2005)

Subversion 1.2 – peg revs, DAV autoversioning support (first released – May 21, 2005)

Subversion 1.1 – FSFS backend, symlinks (first released – September 29, 2004)

Subversion 1.0 (first released – February 23, 2004)

For a more complete (albeit less descriptive) list of changes made in individual releases, see the CHANGES file.

For a detailed history of every release, please see release history.

Coming up in the next patch release ¶

The following changes have been merged since the last patch release and will almost certainly be included in the next patch release:

Further changes currently under consideration are listed in each release line's STATUS file.

See also trunk/CHANGES, where all significant-enough changes will summarized for each version by the time it is released.

The list above is generated daily by ^/subversion/site/tools/upcoming.py.
