supports the research conducted at universities across the country, by imposing a cap on the amount of funding allocated within research grants to reimburse universities for the costs of maintaining research facilities and administration. For each institution, these reimbursement rates are individually negotiated with the federal government and can range from 8-70% of the total NIH award.
