MGB Neurology provides a unique setting in which to train. With its subspecialty divisions, it provides sophisticated Neurology services to large numbers of individuals with a broad range of neurologic disorders, stretching from the most common to the most rare. Patient care occurs hand-in-hand with an immense research program at our hospitals, as well as through collaborative research with laboratories at Harvard and MIT. We are driven by the expectation that our research will provide the keys to improving treatment and reducing disability for our patients. It's an exciting time in Neurology, and we feel that the MGB Neurology program is well poised to play a major role in Neurology's future. Our staff is deeply committed to training the future leaders of Neurology, whether they be expert clinicians, neuroscientists, clinical investigators, medical educators or any mixture thereof.<br /> Neagu, MD PhD, is a current Partners Neurology senior resident who has been awarded an NIH Research Education R25 grant for her project titled "Function of Occludin in Astrocyte Development and its Role as a Putative Driver Oncogene in Transformation to Glioblastoma Multiforme" Her research mentor is William Hahn, MD, PhD, of the Cancer Program at the Broad Institute and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Martha will be pursuing fellowship training in neuro-oncology at MGH and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. She is interested in applying functional genomics to elucidate drivers of glioblastoma formation as a basis for development of targeted therapies against brain tumors.</p> </div> <div id="announcementtwo" class="popup_block"> <h1>R-25 Grant Awarded to Dr. Alice Lam</h1> <h3>Class of 2014</h3> <p>Alice Lam, MD PhD, is a current Partners Neurology senior resident who has been awarded an NIH Research Education R25 grant for her project titled "Examination of Surface Correlates of Deep Epileptic Activity Using Quantitative EEG." Her research mentor is Sydney Cash, MD, PhD, of the Cortical Physiology Laboratory.
