So he divided<MH2673> the children<MH3206> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>among<MH5921> Leah<MH3812> and Rachel<MH7354>, and the two<MH8147> slave<MH8198> women<MH8198>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>He put<MH7760> the slave<MH8198> women<MH8198> and their children<MH3206> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>in<MH7223> front<MH7223>, and Leah<MH3812> and her children<MH3206> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>next<MH314>, and Rachel<MH7354> and Joseph<MH3130> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>last<MH314>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>But he himself<MH1931> passed<MH5674a> on<MH5674a> ahead<MH6440> of them and bowed<MH2331c> down<MH2331c> to the ground<MH776> seven<MH7651> times<MH6471>, until<MH5704> he came<MH5066> near<MH5066> to his brother<MH251>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Then Esau<MH6215> ran<MH7323> to meet<MH7122> him and embraced<MH2263> him, and fell<MH5307> on his neck<MH6677> and kissed<MH5401a> him, and they wept<MH1058>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>He raised<MH5375> his eyes<MH5869> and saw<MH7200> the women<MH802> and the children<MH3206>, and said<MH559>, “<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>Who<MH4310> are these<MH428> with you?” So he said<MH559>, “The children<MH3206> whom<MH834> God<MH430> has graciously<MH2603a> given<MH2603a> your servant<MH5650>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Then the slave<MH8198> women<MH8198> came<MH5066> forward<MH5066> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>with their children<MH3206>, and they bowed<MH2331c> down<MH2331c>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>And Leah<MH3812> likewise<MH1571> came<MH5066> forward<MH5066> with her children<MH3206>, and they bowed<MH2331c> down<MH2331c>; and afterward<MH310> Joseph<MH3130> came<MH5066> forward<MH5066> with Rachel<MH7354>, and they bowed<MH2331c> down<MH2331c>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And he said<MH559>, “What<MH4310> do you mean by all<MH3605> this<MH2088> company<MH4264> which<MH834> I have met<MH6298>?” And he said<MH559>, “To find<MH4672> favor<MH2580> in the sight<MH5869> of my lord<MH113>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>But Esau<MH6215> said<MH559>, “I have<MH3426> plenty<MH7227a>, my brother<MH251>; let what<MH834> you have<MH1961> be your own.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Jacob<MH3290> said<MH559>, “No<MH408>, please<MH4994>, if<MH518> now<MH4994> I have found<MH4672> favor<MH2580> in your sight<MH5869>, then accept<MH3947> my gift<MH4503> from my hand<MH3027>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>for I see<MH7200> your face<MH6440> as one sees<MH7200> the face<MH6440> of God<MH430>, and you have received<MH7521> me favorably<MH7521>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Please<MH4994> accept<MH3947> my <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>gift<MH1293> which<MH834> has been brought<MH935> to you, because<MH3588> God<MH430> has dealt<MH2603a> graciously<MH2603a> with me and because<MH3588> I have<MH3426> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>plenty<MH3605>.” So he urged<MH6484> him, and he accepted<MH3947> <i>it.</i> <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>Esau said<MH559>, “Let’s journey<MH5265> on<MH5265> and go<MH1980>, and I will go<MH1980> ahead<MH5048> of you.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>But he said<MH559> to him, “My lord<MH113> knows<MH3045> that the children<MH3206> are frail<MH7390> and that the flocks<MH6629> and herds<MH1241> that are nursing<MH5763> are <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>a matter<MH5921> of<MH5921> concern<MH5921> to me. And if they are driven<MH1849> hard<MH1849> <i>just</i> one<MH259> day<MH3117>, all<MH3605> the flocks<MH6629> will die<MH4191>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Please<MH4994> let my lord<MH113> pass<MH5674a> on<MH5674a> ahead<MH6440> of his servant<MH5650>, and I will proceed<MH5095> at my leisure<MH328>, at the pace<MH7272> of the cattle<MH4399> that are ahead<MH6440> of me and at the pace<MH7272> of the children<MH3206>, until<MH5704, 834> I come<MH935> to my lord<MH113> at Seir<MH8165>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/33-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Then Esau<MH6215> said<MH559>, “Please<MH4994> let me leave<MH3322> with you some<MH4480> of the people<MH5971a> who<MH834> are with me.” But he said<MH559>, “<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>What<MH4100> need is there?
