and there<MH8033> the hand<MH3027> of the LORD<MH3068> came<MH1961> upon him.) <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>As I looked<MH7200>, behold<MH2009>, a high<MH5591b> wind<MH7307> was coming<MH935> from the north<MH6828>, a great<MH1419> cloud<MH6051> with fire<MH784> flashing<MH3947> intermittently<MH3947> and a bright<MH5051> light<MH5051> around<MH5439> it, and in its midst<MH8432> <i>something</i> like gleaming<MH5869> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>metal<MH2830> in the midst<MH8432> of the fire<MH784>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And within<MH8432> it there were figures<MH1823> resembling<MH1823> four<MH702> living<MH2421b> beings<MH2421b>. And this<MH2088> was their appearance<MH4758>: they had human<MH120> form<MH1823>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Each<MH259> of them had four<MH702> faces<MH6440> and four<MH702> wings<MH3671>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Their legs<MH7272> were straight<MH3477> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>their feet<MH7272> were like a calf’s<MH5695> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>hoof<MH3709, 7272>, and they sparkled<MH5340a> like polished<MH7044> bronze<MH5178>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Under<MH8478> their wings<MH3671> on their four<MH702> sides<MH7253> <i>were</i> human<MH120> hands<MH3027>. As for the faces<MH6440> and wings<MH3671> of the four<MH702> of them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>their wings<MH3671> touched<MH2266> one<MH802> another<MH269>; <i>their faces</i> did not turn<MH5437> when they moved<MH1980>, each<MH376> went<MH1980> straight<MH413, 5676, 6440> forward<MH6440>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>As for the form<MH1823> of their faces<MH6440>, <i>each had</i> a human<MH120> face<MH6440>; <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>all four<MH702> had the face<MH6440> of a lion<MH743b> on the right<MH3225> and the face<MH6440> of a bull<MH7794> on the left<MH8040>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>all four<MH702> had the face<MH6440> of an eagle<MH5404>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Such were their faces<MH6440>. Their wings<MH3671> were spread<MH6504> out<MH6504> above<MH4480, 4605>; each<MH376> had two<MH8147> touching<MH2266> another<MH376> <i>being,</i> and two<MH8147> covering<MH3680> their bodies<MH1472a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And each<MH376> went<MH1980> straight<MH413, 5676, 6440> forward<MH6440>; wherever<MH413, 834, 8033> the spirit<MH7307> was about to go<MH1980>, they would go<MH1980>, without<MH3808> turning<MH5437> as they went<MH1980>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>In the midst of the living<MH2421b> beings<MH2421b> there was something that looked<MH4758> like burning<MH1197a> coals<MH1513> of fire<MH784>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>like<MH4758> torches<MH3940> moving<MH1980> among<MH996> the living<MH2421b> beings<MH2421b>. The fire<MH784> was bright<MH5051>, and lightning<MH1300> was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>flashing<MH3318> from the fire<MH784>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And the living<MH2421b> beings<MH2421b> ran<MH7519> back<MH7725> and forth<MH7725> like<MH4758> bolts<MH965> of<MH965> lightning<MH965>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Now as I looked<MH7200> at the living<MH2421b> beings<MH2421b>, behold<MH2009>, there was one<MH259> wheel<MH212> on the ground<MH776> beside<MH681a> the living<MH2421b> beings<MH2421b>, for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>each of the four<MH702> of them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>The appearance<MH4758> of the wheels<MH212> and their workmanship<MH4639> <i>was</i> like <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>sparkling<MH5869> topaz<MH8658>, and all four<MH702> of them had the same<MH259> form<MH1823>, their appearance<MH4758> and workmanship<MH4639> <i>being</i> as if<MH3512c> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>one wheel<MH212> were within<MH8432> another<MH212>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Whenever they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>moved<MH1980>, they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>moved<MH1980> in <i>any</i> of their four<MH702> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>directions<MH7253> without<MH3808> turning<MH5437> as they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>moved<MH1980>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>As for their rims<MH1354>, they were high<MH1363> and awesome<MH3374>, and the rims<MH1354> of all four<MH702> of them were <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>covered<MH4392> with eyes<MH5869> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Whenever the living<MH2421b> beings<MH2421b> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>moved<MH1980>, the wheels<MH212> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>moved<MH1980> with them. And whenever the living<MH2421b> beings<MH2421b> rose<MH5375> from the earth<MH776>, the wheels<MH212> rose<MH5375> <i>also.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Wherever<MH5921, 834, 8033> the spirit<MH7307> was about to go<MH1980>, they would go<MH1980> in that direction<MH8033><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>. And the wheels<MH212> rose<MH5375> just<MH5980> as they <i>did;</i> for the spirit<MH7307> of the living<MH2421b> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>beings<MH2421b> <i>was</i> in the wheels<MH212>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Whenever those went<MH1980>, they went<MH1980>; and whenever those stopped<MH5975>, they stopped<MH5975>. And whenever those rose<MH5375> from the earth<MH776>, the wheels<MH212> rose<MH5375> just<MH5980> as they <i>did;</i> for the spirit<MH7307> of the living<MH2421b> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>beings<MH2421b> <i>was</i> in the wheels<MH212>. <p class="hdg">Vision of Divine Glory</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Now over<MH5921> the heads<MH7218> of the living<MH2421b> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[x]</a></span>beings<MH2421b> <i>there was</i> something like<MH1823> an expanse<MH7549>, like the awesome<MH3372a> gleam<MH5869> of crystal<MH7140>, spread<MH5186> out<MH5186> over<MH5921, 4605> their heads<MH7218>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Under<MH8478> the expanse<MH7549> their wings<MH3671> <i>were stretched out</i> straight<MH3477>, one<MH802> toward<MH413> the other<MH269>; each<MH376> one<MH376> also had two<MH8147> <i>wings</i> covering<MH3680> its body<MH1472a> on the one<MH2008> side<MH2008> and on the other<MH2008>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>And I also heard<MH8085> the sound<MH6963> of their wings<MH3671>, like the sound<MH6963> of abundant<MH7227a> waters<MH4325> as they went<MH1980>, like the voice<MH6963> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[y]</a></span>the Almighty<MH7706b>, a sound<MH6963> of a crowd<MH1999> like the sound<MH6963> of an army<MH4264> camp<MH4264>; whenever they stopped<MH5975>, they let<MH7503> down<MH7503> their wings<MH3671>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And a voice<MH6963> came<MH1961> from above<MH5921> the expanse<MH7549> that was over<MH5921> their heads<MH7218>; whenever they stood<MH5975> still<MH5975>, they let<MH7503> down<MH7503> their wings<MH3671>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Now above<MH4480, 4605> the expanse<MH7549> that was over<MH5921> their heads<MH7218> there was something<MH1823> resembling<MH1823> a throne<MH3678>, like <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[z]</a></span>lapis<MH68, 5601> lazuli<MH68, 5601> in appearance<MH4758>; and on that which<MH1823> resembled<MH1823> a throne<MH3678>, high<MH4480, 4605> up, <i>was</i> a figure<MH1823> with the appearance<MH4758> of a man<MH120>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>Then I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[aa]</a></span>noticed<MH7200> from the appearance<MH4758> of His waist<MH4975> and upward<MH4605> <i>something</i> like gleaming<MH5869> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[ab]</a></span>metal<MH2830> that looked<MH4758> like fire<MH784> all<MH5439> around<MH5439> within<MH1004> it, and from the appearance<MH4758> of His waist<MH4975> and downward<MH4295> I saw<MH7200> something<MH4758> like fire<MH784>; and <i>there was</i> a radiance<MH5051> around<MH5439> Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/1-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Like the appearance<MH4758> of the rainbow<MH7198> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[ac]</a></span>in the clouds<MH6051> on a rainy<MH1653> day<MH3117>, so<MH3651> <i>was</i> the appearance<MH4758> of the surrounding<MH5439> radiance<MH5051>. Such<MH1931> <i>was</i> the appearance<MH4758> of the likeness<MH1823> of the glory<MH3519b> of the LORD<MH3068>.
