Is my father still living?”, and his brothers were not able to give to him an answer, because they were afraid in his presence.<p> <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And Yoseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me”, and they approached him and he said to them, “I am Yoseph your brother whom you sold to the Egyptians. <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And now you will not sorrow for yourselves and do not let it be evil in your eyes that you sold me here, because for sustenance God has sent me before you. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>Because now there would have been two years of famine within the land, and again there would be five years when there is no one sowing or reaping. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And God sent me before you to establish you as a remnant and to save life for you with a great salvation in the earth. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And now, it was not you who sent me here, but God made me a father to Pharaoh and Lord over all his house and Ruler in all the land of Egypt.<p> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>Quickly go up to my father and say to him, “Thus says your son, Yoseph, ‘God has made me the Lord over all Egypt; come down to me and do not tarry: <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And settle in the land of Geshan, and be near to me, you and your children, and the children of your house, and your flocks, and your cattle and everything that you have. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And I shall support you there, because the famine remains five years more, lest you and your household be destroyed, and everything that you have. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And behold, your eyes see and the eyes of my brother Benyamin, that my mouth is speaking with you. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And show my father all my glory that is in Egypt, and all that you see, and hurry, bring my father down here.’” <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And he fell on the neck of Benyamin, his brother, and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And he kissed all his brothers and wept upon them, and after that his brothers spoke with him.<p> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And a voice was heard in the house of Pharaoh, that said, “The brothers of Yoseph have come”, and the report was pleasing in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of his Servants. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And Pharaoh said to Yoseph, “Say to your brothers thus: ‘Load your animals with grain and go bring it to the land of Canaan; <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And take your father and the people of your house and bring them to me, and I shall give you the good of the land of Egypt, and eat the fat of the land.’ <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And you now are authorized to say so to your brothers: ‘Take for yourselves wagons from the land of Egypt for your wives and for your little ones and take your father and come. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And do let not your eyes gaze on your property, because the blessing of all the land of Egypt is yours.’” <p> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And the sons of Israel did so, and Yoseph gave wagons to them by the word of the mouth of Pharaoh, and he gave provisions for the road to all of them. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And he gave every man a pair of garments, and to Benyamin he gave three hundred silver coins and five pairs of garments. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And thus he sent to his father, and ten donkeys loaded with the good of the land of Egypt, and ten she donkeys loaded with grain and wine and provisions for his father on the road.<p> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And he sent them and they went and he said to them, “Do not argue on the road.”<p> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And they came up from Egypt and they came to the land of Canaan to Yaquuv their father. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And they told him and they said to him, “Yoseph is still alive and he is Ruler in all the land of Egypt”, and he turned away in his heart because he did not believe them. <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And they told him all the words that Yoseph had said to them, and Yaquuv saw the wagons that Yoseph sent to take him, and the spirit of Yaquuv their father was comforted: <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/45-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And he said, “This is great to me, that Yoseph my son is still alive;
