<A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>And Yethrown, Father in Law of Moshe, took Tsephora his daughter, the wife of Moshe, after he released her, <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>And her two children, one of whose names was Gershon, because he said, &#8220;I was a stranger in a strange land&#8221;: <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And the name of the other, Eliazer, because &#8220;The God of my fathers was my help and he delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh&#8221;:<p> <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And Yethrown, Father in Law of Moshe, and his children and his wife came to Moshe, to the wilderness, who was camping there at the mountain of God: <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And it was said to Moshe, &#8220;Behold, your Father in Law Yethrown has come to you, and your wife and both your sons with him. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And Moshe went out to meet his Father in Law, and he bowed to him and he kissed him and they invoked, each man, the peace of his fellow, and they entered the tent. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And Moshe related to his Father in Law everything that LORD JEHOVAH did to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians concerning the possessions of the children of Israel and all the labor that they labored on the way, and LORD JEHOVAH delivered them. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And Yethrown rejoiced over all the good that LORD JEHOVAH did for Israel and he delivered them from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of Pharaoh. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And Yethrown said, &#8220;Blessed is LORD JEHOVAH who has delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of Pharaoh, who has saved his people from under the hand of the Egyptians. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>Now I know that LORD JEHOVAH is greater than all gods, because of the scheme that they had plotted against them. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And Yethrown, the Father in Law of Moshe, offered burning peace offerings and sacrifices to LORD JEHOVAH, and Ahron and all Elders of the children of Israel came to eat bread with the Father in Law of Moshe before God.<p> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And it was the next day and Moshe sat down to judge the people, and the people were standing over from Moshe from dawn and unto evening. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And the Father in Law of Moshe saw everything that he did for the people and he said to him, &#8220;What is this matter that you do for the people? Why do you sit alone and all the people stand over from you from dawn and unto evening?&#8221; <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And Moshe said to his Father in Law, &#8220;The people come to me to ask the word from God: <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And when they have a matter they come to me and I judge between a man with his neighbor and I show to them the commandments of God and his laws.&#8221;<p> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And his Father in Law said to Moshe, you are not doing well. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>Being dishonored you are also shamed, so is also all this people that are with you, because the matter is too heavy for you and you cannot do it alone. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/exodus/18-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>Now hear my voice and I shall counsel you and God will be with you.
