Juni 2012 war der deutsch-amerikanische Literaturwissenschaftler und Vielflieger Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht im DHIP zu Gast für einen von Gordon Blennemann organisierten Workshop „Chronotopenwandel. Zeit-Denken als geschichtswissenschaftliche Herausforderung im 21. Jahrhundert“. Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht bloggt seit Mai 2011 bei der FAZ in seinem Blog <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210924175603/http://faz-community.faz.net/blogs/digital/default.aspx" target="_blank">Digital/Pausen</a>. Im Anschluss an den Workshop habe ich ihn daher zum Thema Bloggen in den Geisteswissenschaften und zu seinen eigenen Erfahrungen mit dem Bloggen befragt.<span id="more-967"></span><em></em></p> <p><em>1. Frage: In der Beschreibung Ihres Weblogs „Digital/Pausen“ auf dem Internetportal der FAZ heisst es, „Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht nutzt die Flexibilität des elektronischen Mediums für intellektuelle Momentaufnahmen an seinen verschieden Aufenthaltsorten“: Herr Gumbrecht, sind Sie ein Blogger?</em></p> <p><iframe src="https://web.archive.org/web/20210924175603if_/https://view.vzaar.com/1005953/player" frameborder="0" width="320" height="72"></iframe><br/> „Ich bin vom Naturell, glaube ich, kein Blogger.“</p> <p> </p> <p><em>2. Frage: Damit erübrigt sich schon die zweite Frage, die gewesen wäre: „Warum bloggen Sie?“ Aber Sie gehören damit dennoch zu den wenigen an einer Universität lehrenden Geisteswissenschaftlern, die öffentlich bloggen.</em></p> <p><iframe src="https://web.archive.org/web/20210924175603if_/https://view.vzaar.com/1005954/player" frameborder="0" width="320" height="72"></iframe></p> <p>„Man erschließt sich damit ein Publikum – nicht nur quantitativ – was man über ein Buch nicht erreichen kann.“</p> <p> </p> <p><em>3. Frage: Sie haben vorhin gesagt, eigentlich würden Sie nicht wirklich bloggen, aber jetzt haben Sie doch Blut geleckt über die Zeit, die Ihr Blog besteht. Warum ist das so? Was fasziniert Sie an dem Medium?</em></p> <p><iframe src="https://web.archive.org/web/20210924175603if_/https://view.vzaar.com/1005956/player" frameborder="0" width="320" height="72"></iframe></p> <p>„Das Bloggen hat für mich etwas Monastisches, weil es im monastischen Sinne eine wöchentliche Übung ist.“</p> <p> </p> <p><em>4. Frage: Wie finden Sie denn Ihre Themen?</em></p> <p><iframe src="https://web.archive.org/web/20210924175603if_/https://view.vzaar.com/1005957/player" frameborder="0" width="320" height="72"></iframe></p> <p>„Es geht darum, dass ich mir vage diesen mir nicht bekannten Leser vorstelle und denke, was von dem, das mich sehr intensiv interessiert, kann auch den Leser interessieren.“</p> <p> </p> <p><em>5. Frage: In Deutschland wird gerade viel diskutiert darüber, dass eine zu starke mediale Präsenz dem wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs schadet. Das gilt fürs Bloggen, aber auch für Facebook und Twitter. Wie sehen Sie das und was raten Sie Ihren Studierenden im Umgang mit den sozialen Medien?</em></p> <p><iframe src="https://web.archive.org/web/20210924175603if_/https://view.vzaar.com/1005958/player" frameborder="0" width="320" height="72"></iframe></p> <p>„Wenn die Förderungskriterien – die informellen – in Deutschland so sind, dann kann, bevor sie sich nicht verändern, man nicht jungen Leuten empfehlen zu bloggen.“</p> <p> </p> <p><em>6. Frage: Dennoch sind die sozialen Medien mittlerweile in die Wissenschaft eingezogen. Einrichtungen, Bibliotheken, Forschungseinrichtungen bloggen, twittern, facebooken und kommunizieren so mit ihrem Nachwuchs, aber auch mit den Kollegen untereinander. Was meinen Sie, wie verändert sich unsere Forschungskultur durch diesen Einzug der sozialen Medien in die Wissenschaft?</em></p> <p><iframe src="https://web.archive.org/web/20210924175603if_/https://view.vzaar.com/1005959/player" frameborder="0" width="320" height="72"></iframe></p> <p>„Wenn ich etwas produziere, was letztlich für Kommunikation produziert ist – und das ist Wissenschaft immer – dann muss ich schon sehen, dass ich einige Leute erreiche.“</p> <p> </p> <p><em>7. Frage: Mit den sozialen Medien geht ja auch einher eine Offenheit des Forschens. Es ist ja oft so, dass Historiker sich nicht unbedingt in die Karten schauen lassen. Sie gehen in die Archive und heben dort unglaublich viele Quellen aus, lesen Bücher, machen Notizen. Das sind alles Daten, die dann digital vorliegen. In den Blogs und sozialen Medien kann man die dann der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich machen, ob das jetzt die breite, interessierte Öffentlichkeit ist oder Fachkollegen, sei dahingestellt. Das ist aber ein Umdenken und wirklich etwas Neues, dass man sich schon während des Forschungsprozesses in die Karten schauen lässt. Was sagen Sie dazu? Dabei erweist sich Gumbrecht als ein „analog virtual Humanist“ wenn man sein wunderbares Buch „In 1926: Living at the Edge of Time“ liesst.
