and Paul, Hermes, because he was the leading speaker. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And the priest of Zeus, being just outside the city, having brought oxen and wreaths to the gates, was desiring with the crowds to sacrifice. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>But the apostles Barnabas and Paul having heard, having torn their garments, rushed out into the crowd, crying out <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>and saying, “Men, why do you do these things? We also are men of like nature with you, proclaiming the gospel to you, to turn from these vanities to <i>the</i> living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things in them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>who in the generations past allowed all the nations to go their <i>own</i> ways. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And yet He has not left Himself without witness, doing good, giving to you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And saying these things, they hardly stopped the crowds from sacrificing to them. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds, and having stoned Paul, they dragged <i>him</i> outside the city, supposing him to have died. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>But the disciples having surrounded him, having risen up, he entered into the city. And on the next day he went away with Barnabas to Derbe. </p><p class="hdg">The Return to Syrian Antioch</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And having proclaimed the gospel to that city and having discipled many, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting <i>them</i> to continue in the faith and that “through many tribulations it behooves us to enter into the kingdom of God.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Now having chosen elders for them in every church, having prayed, with fasting they committed them to the Lord, in whom they had believed. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>And having passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>and having spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia. </p><p class="hdg">The Report to the Church at Antioch</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And from there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>Now having arrived and having gathered together the church, they began declaring all that God had done with them, and that He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/14-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>And they remained no little time with the disciples.<A name="fn"><br /><br /><br /></div></div><div id="botbox"><div class="padbot"><div align="center">The Berean Bible<br /><a href="//berean.bible">www.Berean.Bible</a><br /><br /><a href="//literalbible.com">Berean Literal Bible (BLB)</a><br />© 2016 by <a href="//biblehub.com">Bible Hub</a> and <a href="//berean.bible">Berean.Bible</a><br />Used by Permission.
