On the role of agency, memory and identity in the construction of space from the Upper Palaeolithic to the Iron Age in Europe, 2010</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">This paper presents the site of Cividade, a Late Bronze/Iron Age settlement in the Arouca valley, while discussing archaeological data and research paradigms used in the study of these archaeological sites in the north of Portugal. Cividade is an enclosed hilltop site that yielded very few archaeological features of construction (e.g. postmolds, hearths or hut floors). DO NEOLÍTICO À IDADE DO BRONZE, 2014</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">As intervenções realizadas nos últimos três anos no vale do Sabor, no âmbito do Plano de Sal-vaguarda do Património (PSP) do Aproveitamento Hidroelétrico do Baixo Sabor (AHBS), permitiram a descoberta de importantes contextos da Idade do Bronze. Este tipo de sítios, caracterizado pela densa presença de estruturas negativas tipo fossa em amplas plataformas fluviais, era inédito até ao momento na região. No entanto, a identificação de contextos funerários nestes locais está já bem documentada noutros locais da Península ibérica não sendo o vale do Sabor exceção. Neste caso apresenta-se o resultado da intervenção no Terraço das Laranjeiras, onde se identificou uma ocupação com concentração de estruturas em negativo de tipo fossa e dois enterramentos: um em fossa, de criança, e outro em cista de um sub-adulto. Case studies in Iberia, Romania, Turkey and Israel, 2018</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">Some of the funerary contexts from the hypogea of Torre Velha 3 (Serpa/Beja), dated from the Middle Bronze Age, show elements that can attest interactions with other contemporary peninsular societies. Among these we ﬁ nd the faunal remains associated with feasting rituals, but also the pedestalled cups whose typology resembles the argaric forms, or even the metallic artefacts made in bronze, when in this region the arsenic copper artefacts were still predominant. These elements matched with other from some archaeological contexts identiﬁ ed in Baixo Alentejo result from the exchange of ideas and materials related to interaction processes. In this context we considered, among others, the funerary artefacts found in the Belmeque burial (Serpa/ Beja), the sword of Horta do Folgão (Serpa/Beja), and the stelae group called Alentejo slabs. Even if the archaeological record doesn’t show any intensiﬁ cation in regional and extra-regional contacts, similar to those documented in previous and especially posteriors times, the reality is that these communities, despite knowing processes of social transformation in whose dynamics are deﬁ ned by diﬀ erent regional rhythms, are still related to other contemporary societies. The site was characterized by negative structures of different types, chronologies and fills. In this paper the authors wish to focus on the structures related to the burial practices from the Bronze Age: both hypogea and pits with burials from one individual to a maximum of five. Only six hypogea revealed faunal remains associated with funerary rituals, consisting mainly of bones from the forelimbs of Bos taurus and Ovis/Capra and a partial skeleton of Oryctolagus cuniculus. Most parts of the faunal assemblage were deposited in articulation, but isolated radius are also present. Senna-Martinez</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">Fraga dos Corvos is a Bronze Age habitat site recently studied and located in the north-western versant of Serra de Bornes, Eastern Trás-os-Montes (Macedo de Cavaleiros, Bragança, Portugal). The site visually controls the Macedo de Cavaleiros basin. The results of the first four campaigns at Fraga dos Corvos Early/Middle Bronze Age habitat site, namely the excavation of its Huts 4 and 6 (foundry area), provide the opportunity to discuss the relations between the socio-economic constraints of metal production (the first actual production of binary bronzes in Northern Portugal) and the symbolic of power in northern Portugal emerging Bronze Age societies. The excavation made it possible to collect an important set of ceramics that incorporate printed and incised decoration, which can be easily decoration related to the Cogotas 1 cultural background. Burnished decorations, with grooves on the inner surface and outer strips, are less common. The formal repertoire does not deviate from what is known about the Late Bronze Age in central and southern Iberian Peninsula.
