Alam-Pedja is an area of large mires, flooded forests and meadows and meandering rivers. This area was placed under nature conservation in 1994. The area of the Nature Reserve is 34,220 ha. This extensive wildlife area is located in the basin of Lake Võrtsjärv in the border areas of Jõgeva, Tartu and Viljandi counties.
