He moved in to the events industry holding numerous senior roles including being the Global Managing Director of IIR Exhibitions. Geoff set up and created two events businesses which he went on to sell to Messe Frankfurt and Clarion respectively. On leaving dmg events in 2003 he became Marketing Director at Turret RAI and XPO Group, where he ran Apple Computer exhibitions across Europe and launched events for Nikon, Adobe and Quark. In 2006 Matt became UK Group Events Director for Expomedia Group plc and ran the UK events business where he oversaw the integration of acquired events into the portfolio.</p> <p>In 2008 Matt moved to Dubai as a Commercial Director for Turret Middle East, responsible for business development and acquisitions & sales, including the purchase and subsequent sale of Tawdheef, the Abu Dhabi Emiratization event.</p> <p>In December 2010 Matt joined dmg events as Vice President running the construction portfolio that includes the region’s largest construction event, The Big 5. In four years ending as Senior Vice President he oversaw the portfolio grow from two events to fifteen, completed two acquisitions adding a further seven events and two publications and saw revenues rise from $22m to over $50m.</p> <p>Core to this growth was the geo-adaptation of the Big 5 construction brand into Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, India and Indonesia and the introduction of the five vertical events to the market. There, Matt was heavily involved in the sale of this portfolio of events to Comexposium.
