First, lower and upper approximations on the basis of possible world semantics in the same way as Lipski did in the field of incomplete databases are shown in order to clarify fundamentals of rough sets under possibilistic information. Possibility and necessity measures are used, as is done in possibilistic databases. As a result, each object has certain and possible membership degrees to lower and upper approximations, which degrees are the lower and upper bounds. Therefore, the degree that the object belongs to lower and upper approximations is expressed by an interval value. And the complementary property linked with the lower and upper approximations holds, as is valid under complete information. Second, the approach based on indiscernibility relations, which is proposed by Dubois and Prade, are extended in three cases. The first case is that objects used to approximate a set of objects are characterized by possibilistic information. The second case is that objects used to approximate a set of objects with possibilistic information are characterized by complete information. The third case is that objects that are characterized by possibilistic information approximate a set of objects with possibilistic information. The extended approach create the same results as the approach based on possible world semantics. This justifies our extension. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rough%20sets" title="rough sets">rough sets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=possibilistic%20information" title=" possibilistic information"> possibilistic information</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=possible%20world%20semantics" title=" possible world semantics"> possible world semantics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=indiscernibility%20relations" title=" indiscernibility relations"> indiscernibility relations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lower%20approximations" title=" lower approximations"> lower approximations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=upper%20approximations" title=" upper approximations"> upper approximations</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27554/formulating-rough-approximations-in-information-tables-with-possibilistic-information" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27554.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">321</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10762</span> A Joint Possibilistic-Probabilistic Tool for Load Flow Uncertainty Assessment-Part I: Formulation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morteza%20Aien">Morteza Aien</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Masoud%20Rashidinejad"> Masoud Rashidinejad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmud%20Fotuhi-Firuzabad"> Mahmud Fotuhi-Firuzabad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> As energetic and environmental issues are getting more and more attention all around the world, the penetration of distributed energy resources (DERs) mainly those harvesting renewable energies (REs) ascends with an unprecedented rate. This matter causes more uncertainties to appear in the power system context; ergo, the uncertainty analysis of the system performance is an obligation. The uncertainties of any system can be represented probabilistically or possibilistically. Since sufficient historical data about all the system variables is not available, therefore, they do not have a probability density function (PDF) and must be represented possibilistiacally. When some of system uncertain variables are probabilistic and some are possibilistic, neither the conventional pure probabilistic nor pure possibilistic methods can be implemented. Hence, a combined solution is appealed. The first of this two-paper series formulates a new possibilistic-probabilistic tool for the load flow uncertainty assessment. The proposed methodology is based on the evidence theory and joint propagation of possibilistic and probabilistic uncertainties. This possibilistic- probabilistic formulation is solved in the second companion paper in an uncertain load flow (ULF) study problem. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=probabilistic%20uncertainty%20modeling" title="probabilistic uncertainty modeling">probabilistic uncertainty modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=possibilistic%20uncertainty%20modeling" title=" possibilistic uncertainty modeling"> possibilistic uncertainty modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uncertain%20load%20flow" title=" uncertain load flow"> uncertain load flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wind%20turbine%20generator" title=" wind turbine generator"> wind turbine generator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15352/a-joint-possibilistic-probabilistic-tool-for-load-flow-uncertainty-assessment-part-i-formulation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15352.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">561</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10761</span> A Joint Possibilistic-Probabilistic Tool for Load Flow Uncertainty Assessment-Part II: Case Studies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morteza%20Aien">Morteza Aien</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Masoud%20Rashidinejad"> Masoud Rashidinejad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmud%20Fotuhi-Firuzabad"> Mahmud Fotuhi-Firuzabad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Power systems are innately uncertain systems. To face with such uncertain systems, robust uncertainty assessment tools are appealed. This paper inspects the uncertainty assessment formulation of the load flow (LF) problem considering different kinds of uncertainties, developed in its companion paper through some case studies. The proposed methodology is based on the evidence theory and joint propagation of possibilistic and probabilistic uncertainties. The load and wind power generation are considered as probabilistic uncertain variables and the electric vehicles (EVs) and gas turbine distributed generation (DG) units are considered as possibilistic uncertain variables. The cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the system output parameters obtained by the pure probabilistic method lies within the belief and plausibility functions obtained by the joint propagation approach. Furthermore, the imprecision in the DG parameters is explicitly reflected by the gap between the belief and plausibility functions. This gap, due to the epistemic uncertainty on the DG resources parameters grows as the penetration level increases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electric%20vehicles" title="electric vehicles">electric vehicles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=joint%20possibilistic-%20probabilistic%20uncertainty%20modeling" title=" joint possibilistic- probabilistic uncertainty modeling"> joint possibilistic- probabilistic uncertainty modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uncertain%20load%20flow" title=" uncertain load flow"> uncertain load flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wind%20turbine%20generator" title=" wind turbine generator"> wind turbine generator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15353/a-joint-possibilistic-probabilistic-tool-for-load-flow-uncertainty-assessment-part-ii-case-studies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15353.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">431</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10760</span> Fuzzy Set Approach to Study Appositives and Its Impact Due to Positional Alterations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=E.%20Mike%20Dison">E. On the basis of the AsPOWA operator the projects’ group ranking maximum criteria is constructed. So the importance of facial surgeries is undeniable. Thus, there is a need for the appropriate and accurate facial skin segmentation in order to extract different features. Since Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering algorithm doesn’t work appropriately for noisy images and outliers, in this paper we exploit Possibilistic C-Means (PCM) algorithm in order to segment the facial skin. For this purpose, first, we convert facial images from RGB to YCbCr color space. To evaluate performance of the proposed algorithm, the database of Sahand University of Technology, Tabriz, Iran was used. In order to have a better understanding from the proposed algorithm; FCM and Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithms are also used for facial skin segmentation. The proposed method shows better results than the other segmentation methods. Results include misclassification error (0.032) and the region’s area error (0.045) for the proposed algorithm. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=facial%20image" title="facial image">facial image</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=segmentation" title=" segmentation"> segmentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PCM" title=" PCM"> PCM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FCM" title=" FCM"> FCM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=skin%20error" title=" skin error"> skin error</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=facial%20surgery" title=" facial surgery"> facial surgery</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10297/automatic-facial-skin-segmentation-using-possibilistic-c-means-algorithm-for-evaluation-of-facial-surgeries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10297.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">586</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10757</span> AM/E/c Queuing Hub Maximal Covering Location Model with Fuzzy Parameter</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20H.%20Fazel%20Zarandi">M. The location of service centers has a strong influence on the congestion at each of them, and, consequently, on the quality of service. This paper presents a fuzzy maximal hub covering location problem (FMCHLP) in which travel costs between any pair of nodes is considered as a fuzzy variable. In order to consider the quality of service, we model each hub as a queue. Arrival rate follows Poisson distribution and service rate follows Erlang distribution. In this paper, at first, a nonlinear mathematical programming model is presented. Then, we convert it to the linear one. We solved the linear model using GAMS software up to 25 nodes and for large sizes due to the complexity of hub covering location problems, and simulated annealing algorithm is developed to solve and test the model. Also, we used possibilistic c-means clustering method in order to find an initial solution. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20modeling" title="fuzzy modeling">fuzzy modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=location" title=" location"> location</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=possibilistic%20clustering" title=" possibilistic clustering"> possibilistic clustering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=queuing" title=" queuing"> queuing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49645/amec-queuing-hub-maximal-covering-location-model-with-fuzzy-parameter" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49645.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10756</span> Two Stage Fuzzy Methodology to Evaluate the Credit Risks of Investment Projects</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=O.%20Badagadze">O. A lot of research works dealt with structural exact or inexact graph matching but a little attention is paid to semantic matching when graph vertices and/or edges are attributed and typed. Therefore, it seems very interesting to integrate background knowledge into the analysis and that extracted frequent subgraphs should become more pruned by applying a new semantic filter instead of using only structural similarity in graph matching process. Consequently, this paper focuses on developing a new hybrid approximate structuralsemantic graph matching to discover a set of frequent subgraphs. It uses simultaneously an approximate structural similarity function based on graph edit distance function and a possibilistic vertices similarity function based on affinity function. Both structural and semantic filters contribute together to prune extracted frequent set. Indeed, new hybrid structural-semantic frequent subgraph mining approach searches will be suitable to be applied to several application such as community detection in social networks. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=approximate%20graph%20matching" title="approximate graph matching">approximate graph matching</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybrid%20frequent%20subgraph%20mining" title=" hybrid frequent subgraph mining"> hybrid frequent subgraph mining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=graph%20mining" title=" graph mining"> graph mining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=possibility%20theory" title=" possibility theory"> possibility theory</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34195/hybrid-approximate-structural-semantic-frequent-subgraph-mining" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34195.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">402</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10752</span> Information Literacy: Concept and Importance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gaurav%20Kumar">Gaurav Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An information literate person is one who uses information effectively in all its forms. The major highlights of this paper include: the conceptual analysis of knowledge society, overview of library and information centres in developing countries, role of libraries and information centre in building up of knowledge society, library and information professionals as factor in building knowledge, challenges faced by Library and Information Centres (LICs) in building knowledge society, strategies for building knowledge society. The position of this paper is that in spite of the influx of varied information and communication technologies in the information industry which is the driving force of knowledge society, there is a dire need for Libraries and Information Centres (LIC) to contribute positively to the migration and transition processes from the information society to knowledge-based society. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20and%20communication%20technology%20%28ICT%29" title="information and communication technology (ICT)">information and communication technology (ICT)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20centres" title=" information centres"> information centres</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20industry" title=" information industry"> information industry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20society" title=" information society"> information society</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56886/building-knowledge-society-the-imperative-role-of-library-and-information-centres-lics-in-developing-countries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56886.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">379</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10746</span> A Monte Carlo Fuzzy Logistic Regression Framework against Imbalance and Separation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Georgios%20Charizanos">Georgios Charizanos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haydar%20Demirhan"> Haydar Demirhan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Duygu%20Icen"> Duygu Icen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Two of the most impactful issues in classical logistic regression are class imbalance and complete separation. These can result in model predictions heavily leaning towards the imbalanced class on the binary response variable or over-fitting issues. Fuzzy methodology offers key solutions for handling these problems. However, most studies propose the transformation of the binary responses into a continuous format limited within [0,1]. This is called the possibilistic approach within fuzzy logistic regression. Following this approach is more aligned with straightforward regression since a logit-link function is not utilized, and fuzzy probabilities are not generated. In contrast, we propose a method of fuzzifying binary response variables that allows for the use of the logit-link function; hence, a probabilistic fuzzy logistic regression model with the Monte Carlo method. The fuzzy probabilities are then classified by selecting a fuzzy threshold. Different combinations of fuzzy and crisp input, output, and coefficients are explored, aiming to understand which of these perform better under different conditions of imbalance and separation. We conduct numerical experiments using both synthetic and real datasets to demonstrate the performance of the fuzzy logistic regression framework against seven crisp machine learning methods. The proposed framework shows better performance irrespective of the degree of imbalance and presence of separation in the data, while the considered machine learning methods are significantly impacted. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20logistic%20regression" title="fuzzy logistic regression">fuzzy logistic regression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy" title=" fuzzy"> fuzzy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=logistic" title=" logistic"> logistic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175302/a-monte-carlo-fuzzy-logistic-regression-framework-against-imbalance-and-separation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175302.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">74</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10745</span> A Forward-Looking View of the Intellectual Capital Accounting Information System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rbiha%20Salsabil%20Ketitni">Rbiha Salsabil Ketitni</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The entire company is a series of information among themselves so that each information serves several events and activities, and the latter is nothing but a large set of data or huge data. The enormity of information leads to the possibility of losing it sometimes, and this possibility must be avoided in the institution, especially the information that has a significant impact on it. In most cases, to avoid the loss of this information and to be relatively correct, information systems are used. At present, it is impossible to have a company that does not have information systems, as the latter works to organize the information as well as to preserve it and even saves time for its owner and this is the result of the speed of its mission. As the organic integration of information and communication technology (ICT) and public administration, e-government is one of the most important areas in contemporary information society. Policy information system is a basic subsystem of public policy system, its operation affects the overall effect of the policy process or even exerts a direct impact on the operation of a public policy and its success or failure. The basic principle of its operation is information collection, processing, analysis and release for a specific purpose. The function of E-government for public policy information system lies in the promotion of public access to the policy information resources, information transmission through e-participation, e-consultation in the process of policy analysis and processing of information and electronic services in policy information stored, to promote the optimization of policy information systems. However, due to many factors, the function of e-government to promote policy information system optimization has its practical limits. In the building of E-government in our country, we should take such path as adhering to the principle of freedom of information, eliminating the information divide (gap), expanding e-consultation, breaking down information silos and other major path, so as to promote the optimization of public policy information systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=China" title="China">China</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=e-consultation" title=" e-consultation"> e-consultation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=e-democracy" title=" e-democracy"> e-democracy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=e-government" title=" e-government"> e-government</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=e-participation" title=" e-participation"> e-participation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ICTs" title=" ICTs"> ICTs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=public%20policy%20information%20systems" title=" public policy information systems"> public policy information systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44549/optimizing-the-public-policy-information-system-under-the-environment-of-e-government" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44549.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">863</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10742</span> Improving the Statistics Nature in Research Information System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rajbir%20Cheema">Rajbir Cheema </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In order to introduce an integrated research information system, this will provide scientific institutions with the necessary information on research activities and research results in assured quality. It contributes effectively to align business processes on strategies of enterprises. It is regarded as an increase in productivity and effectiveness. So, many organizations are currently involved in implementing sustainable Information System. And, a large number of studies have been conducted the last decade in order to define the success factors of information system. Thus, many studies on maturity model have been carried out. Some of this study is referred to the maturity model of Information System. In this article, we report on development of maturity models specifically designed for information system. This model is built based on three components derived from Maturity Model for Information Security Management, OPM3 for Project Management Maturity Model and processes of COBIT for IT governance. Thus, our proposed model defines three maturity stages for corporate a strong Information System to support objectives of organizations. It provides a very practical structure with which to assess and improve Information System Implementation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20system" title="information system">information system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maturity%20models" title=" maturity models"> maturity models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20security%20management" title=" information security management"> information security management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OPM3" title=" OPM3"> OPM3</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IT%20governance" title=" IT governance"> IT governance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26349/towards-a-new-maturity-model-for-information-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26349.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">447</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10740</span> A Physical Theory of Information vs. a Mathematical Theory of Communication</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manouchehr%20Amiri">Manouchehr Amiri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This article introduces a general notion of physical bit information that is compatible with the basics of quantum mechanics and incorporates the Shannon entropy as a special case. This study is conducted by using a questionnaire survey and an interview. The data is gathered from 140 HR managers who are members of the People Management Association of Turkey (PERYÖN), and the 15 interviewees were chosen among those 140 survey participants randomly. The goal of this exploratory study is to investigate the impact of some factors (i.e., gender, age, work experience, number of employee reporting, company size, industry type) on HR managers’ information behavior. More specifically, it examines if there is a relationship between those factors and HR managers’ information behavior in terms of what kind of information sources they consult and reviews and whom they prefer to communicate with for information sharing. It also aims to find out additional factors influencing the information behavior of HR managers. The results of the study show that age and industry type are the two factors affecting the information behavior of HR managers, among other factors investigated in terms of information source, use and share. Moreover, personality, technology, education, organizational culture, and culture are the top five factors among the 24 additional factors suggested by HR managers who participated in this study. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20behavior" title="information behavior">information behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20use" title=" information use"> information use</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20source" title=" information source"> information source</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20share" title=" information share"> information share</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human%20resource%20managers" title=" human resource managers"> human resource managers</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147609/factors-affecting-human-resource-managers-information-behavior" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147609.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">144</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10737</span> Information Technologies in Automotive Assembly Industry in Thailand</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jirarat%20Teeravaraprug">Jirarat Teeravaraprug</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Usawadee%20Inklay"> Usawadee Inklay</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper gave an attempt in prioritizing information technologies that organizations should give concentration. The Panjab University Library is one of the biggest libraries of India and was inaugurated in 1963 by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India. The library always thrives to assimilate new technology for the provision of Information services. As we know that the Information seekers today are a whole lot different, they are tech savvy, like to be on their electronic gadgets most of the time, and their Information seeking patterns are also different, the challenge that lies before the libraries is to be always ready for these day to day challenges. The study explores the current status of the Information Services being provided by the Panjab University Library (the Information Providers) vs. the evaluation of these Information services by the users of Library (the Information Seekers). The present study aimed at finding out whether Panjab University Library is able to achieve its mission to be an innovative and user-oriented library by exploring all the new vistas and reach up to the expectations of the information seekers by taking up all the challenges being posed by the ever changing technological scenario. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electronic%20environment" title="electronic environment">electronic environment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20seekers" title=" information seekers"> information seekers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20providers" title=" information providers"> information providers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=new%20technology" title=" new technology"> new technology</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55541/information-seekers-vs-information-providers-new-vistas-and-new-challenges-for-the-libraries-today-a-case-study-of-the-panjab-university-library-chandigarh-india" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55541.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">262</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10735</span> Electronic Resources and Information Literacy in Higher Education Library</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nirmal%20Singh">Nirmal Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rajesh%20Kumar"> Rajesh Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Abstract- Information literacy aims to develop both critical understanding and active participation in scholars. It enables scholars to interpret and make informed judgments as users of information sources, and it also enables them to become producers of information in their own right, and thereby to become more powerful participants in society. Information literacy is about developing people‘s critical and creative abilities. Digital media – and particularly the Internet – significantly increase the potential for such active participation of the individual, provided scholars have the means and training to effectively access and use them. The study has led to the development of a framework for understanding the AIS adoption process in an organisation. This research used qualitative, interpretive evidence. This framework was developed from case studies and by collecting qualitative data (interviews). This research has conducted 10 case studies to study how IQ is managed through the accounting information system adoption process. A special focus is placed on determining how organisation size influences the information quality practices. The finding is especially useful to SMEs as many SMEs have the desire to grow bigger. By better dealing with IQ issues, there could be a successful future. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20quality"
