serious intra-abdominal pathology is difficult and most of the damages are obscure in the initial investigation. There is still controversy about which patients should undergo abdomen/pelvis CT, which patients needs more observation and which patients can be discharged safely The aim of this study was to determine that is it safe to discharge patients with blunt abdominal trauma with normal initial findings. Methods: This non-randomized cross-sectional study was conducted from September 2013 to September 2014 at two levels I trauma centers, Sina hospital and Rasoul-e-Akram hospital (Tehran, Iran). Our inclusion criteria were all patients were admitted for suspicious BAT and our exclusion criteria were patients that have serious head and neck, chest, spine and limb injuries which need surgical intervention, those who have unstable vital signs, pregnant women with a gestational age over 3 months and homeless or without exact home address. 390 patients with blunt trauma abdomen examined and the necessary data, including demographic data, the abdominal examination, FAST result, patients’ lab test results (hematocrit, base deficit, urine analysis) on admission and at 6 and 12 hours after admission were recorded. Patients with normal physical examination, laboratory tests and FAST were discharged from the ED during 12 hours with the explanation of the alarm signs and were followed up after 24 hours and 1 week by a telephone call. Patients with abnormal findings in physical examination, laboratory tests, and FAST underwent abdomino-pelvic CT scan. Results: The study included 390 patients with blunt abdominal trauma between 12 and 80 years of age (mean age, 37.0 ± 13.7 years) and the mean duration of hospitalization in patients was 7.4 ± 4.1 hours. 88.6% of the patients were discharged from hospital before 12 hours. Odds ratio (OR) for having any symptoms for discharge after 6 hours was 0.160 and after 12 hours was 0.117 hours, which is statistically significant. Among the variables age, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, hematocrit and base deficit at admission, 6 hours and 12 hours after admission showed no significant statistical relationship with discharge time. From our 390 patients, 190 patients have normal initial physical examination, lab data and FAST findings that didn’t show any signs or symptoms in their next assessment and in their follow up by the phone call. Conclusion: It is recommended that patients with no symptoms at admission (completely normal physical examination, ultrasound, normal hematocrit and normal base deficit and lack of microscopic hematuria) and good family and social status can be safely discharged from the emergency department. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blunt%20abdominal%20trauma" title="blunt abdominal trauma">blunt abdominal trauma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=patient%20discharge" title=" patient discharge"> patient discharge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emergency%20department" title=" emergency department"> emergency department</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FAST" title=" FAST"> FAST</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37328/blunt-abdominal-trauma-management-in-adult-patients-an-investigation-on-safety-of-discharging-patients-with-normal-initial-findings" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37328.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">366</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">26</span> Effect of Different Irrigation Intervals on Protein and Gel Production of Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis M.) in Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Mohammad%20Hosein%20Al%20Omrani%20Nejad">Seyed Mohammad Hosein Al Omrani Nejad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Rezvani%20Aghdam"> Ali Rezvani Aghdam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study was done in order to evaluation different irrigation intervals on amount of protein, and gel production in Aloe vera, a traditional medicinal plant. Graphene has sensitive electrical properties due to its atomic-thin structure. Along with the substrate materials and their influence on the transport properties in graphene, design and fabrication of graphene-based devices for biomedical and biosensor applications are challenging. In this work, large-area high-quality graphene nanosheets were prepared by low pressure chemical vapor deposition using methane gas as carbon source on copper foil and transferred on the biocompatible substrates. Through deposition of titanium and gold contacts, current-voltage response of the transferred graphene on four biocompatible substrates, including PDMS, SU-8, Nitrocellulose, and Kapton (Fig. 2) were experimentally determined. The considerable effect of the substrate type on the electrical properties of graphene is shown. The sheet resistance of graphene is changed from 0.34 to 14.5 kΩ/sq, depending on the substrate. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biocompatible%20substrates" title="biocompatible substrates">biocompatible substrates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrical%20properties" title=" electrical properties"> electrical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=graphene" title=" graphene"> graphene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sheet%20resistance" title=" sheet resistance"> sheet resistance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/119292/effects-of-biocompatible-substrates-on-the-electrical-properties-of-graphene" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/119292.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">132</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">24</span> Synthesis of NiO and ZnO Nanoparticles and Charactiration for the Eradication of Lead (Pb) from Wastewater</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sadia%20Ata">Sadia Ata</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anila%20Tabassum"> Anila Tabassum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20ghafoor"> Samina ghafoor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ijaz%20ul%20Mohsin"> Ijaz ul Mohsin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Azam%20Muktar"> Azam Muktar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Heavy metal ions such as Pb2+, Cd2+, Zn2+, Ni2+ and Hg2+, in wastewater are considered as the serious environmental problem. Among these heavy metals, Lead or Pb (II) is the most toxic heavy metal. Exposure to lead causes damage of nervous system, mental retardation, renal kidney disease, anemia and cancer in human beings. Adsorption is the most widely used method to remove metal ions based on the physical interaction between metal ions and sorbents. With the development of nanotechnology, nano-sized materials are proved to be effective sorbents for the removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater due to their unique structural properties. Since temperature affected on enzymatic action, then is important factor on pirovic acid and allicin retention. Materials and Methods: This study investigated the effects of temperature on qualitative characteristics such as color of powder and pirovic acid and alicin retention in a convective hot-air dryer. For this reason, half cloves of Shushtar Garlics (Allium sativum L.) were dried at air temperatures of 50 and 70°C. Results: Results showed that increasing temperature was resulted changing color. Pirovic acid increased when half cloves Garlic were dried at 70°C. Allicin of half cloves also increased with increasing temperature. Conclusions: According to findings of this research, half cloves which dried in 70 degree centigrade can be introduced the best conditions for producing Garlic powder. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=garlic" title="garlic">garlic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drying" title=" drying"> drying</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pirovic%20acid" title=" pirovic acid"> pirovic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=allicin" title=" allicin"> allicin</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30946/effects-of-temperature-dryer-on-allicin-and-pirvic-acid-measurments-garlic-powder-after-drying-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30946.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">332</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">22</span> Language Switching Errors of Bilinguals: Role of Top down and Bottom up Process</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Numra%20Qayyum">Numra Qayyum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Sarwat"> Samina Sarwat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noor%20ul%20Ain"> Noor ul Ain</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Bilingual speakers generally can speak both languages with the same competency without mixing them intentionally and making mistakes, but sometimes errors occur in language selection. This quantitative study particularly deals with the language errors made by Urdu-English bilinguals. In this research, researchers have given special attention to the part played by bottom-up priming and top-down cognitive control in these errors. Unstable Urdu-English bilingual participants termed pictures and were prompted to shift from one language to another under the pressure of time. Different situations were given to manipulate the participants. The long and short runs trials of the same language were also given before switching to another language. The study is concluded with the findings that bilinguals made more errors when switching to the first language from their second language, and these errors are large in number, especially when a speaker is switching from L2 (second language) to L1 (first language) after a long run. When the switching is reversed, i.e., from L2 to LI, it had no effect at all. These results gave the clear responsibility of all these errors to top-down cognitive control. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bottom%20up%20priming" title="bottom up priming">bottom up priming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=language%20error" title=" language error"> language error</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=language%20switching" title=" language switching"> language switching</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=top%20down%20cognitive%20control" title=" top down cognitive control"> top down cognitive control</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/117687/language-switching-errors-of-bilinguals-role-of-top-down-and-bottom-up-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/117687.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21</span> Seismic Behavior of Steel Moment-Resisting Frames for Uplift Permitted in Near-Fault Regions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Tehranizadeh">M. Inelastic seismic demands of the superstructure are considered using concentrated plasticity model. The raft foundation system is designed for different soil types. Beam-on-nonlinear Winkler foundation (BNWF) is used to represent dynamic impedance of the underlying soil. Two sets of pulse-like as well as no-pulse near-fault earthquakes are used as input ground motions. The results show that the reduction in drift demands due to nonlinear SSI is characterized by a more uniform distribution pattern along the height when compared to the fixed-base and linear SSI condition. It is also concluded that beneficial effects of nonlinear SSI on displacement demands is more significant in case of pulse-like ground motions and performance level of the steel moment-resisting frames can be enhanced. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil-structure%20interaction" title="soil-structure interaction">soil-structure interaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uplifting" title=" uplifting"> uplifting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil%20plasticity" title=" soil plasticity"> soil plasticity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=near-fault%20earthquake" title=" near-fault earthquake"> near-fault earthquake</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tall%20building" title=" tall building"> tall building</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21997/seismic-behavior-of-steel-moment-resisting-frames-for-uplift-permitted-in-near-fault-regions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21997.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">549</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">20</span> A Survey of Feature Selection and Feature Extraction Techniques in Machine Learning</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Khalid">Samina Khalid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shamila%20Nasreen"> Shamila Nasreen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Dimensionality reduction as a preprocessing step to machine learning is effective in removing irrelevant and redundant data, increasing learning accuracy, and improving result comprehensibility. However, the recent increase of dimensionality of data poses a severe challenge to many existing feature selection and feature extraction methods with respect to efficiency and effectiveness. In the field of machine learning and pattern recognition, dimensionality reduction is important area, where many approaches have been proposed. In this paper, some widely used feature selection and feature extraction techniques have analyzed with the purpose of how effectively these techniques can be used to achieve high performance of learning algorithms that ultimately improves predictive accuracy of classifier. An endeavor to analyze dimensionality reduction techniques briefly with the purpose to investigate strengths and weaknesses of some widely used dimensionality reduction methods is presented. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=age%20related%20macular%20degeneration" title="age related macular degeneration">age related macular degeneration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=feature%20selection%20feature%20subset%20selection%20feature%20extraction%2Ftransformation" title=" feature selection feature subset selection feature extraction/transformation"> feature selection feature subset selection feature extraction/transformation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FSA%E2%80%99s" title=" FSA’s"> FSA’s</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relief" title=" relief"> relief</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=correlation%20based%20method" title=" correlation based method"> correlation based method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PCA" title=" PCA"> PCA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ICA" title=" ICA"> ICA</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6168/a-survey-of-feature-selection-and-feature-extraction-techniques-in-machine-learning" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6168.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">496</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">19</span> Wind Diesel Hybrid System without Battery Energy Storage Using Imperialist Competitive Algorithm</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Rezvani">H. One of the fastest growing sources is wind energy. In this paper, Wind Diesel Hybrid System (WDHS) comprising a Diesel Generator (DG), a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG), the Consumer Load, a Battery-based Energy Storage System (BESS), and a Dump Load (DL) is used. Voltage is controlled by Diesel Generator; the frequency is controlled by BESS and DL. The BESS elimination is an efficient way to reduce maintenance cost and increase the dynamic response. Simulation results with graphs for the frequency of Power System, active power, and the battery power are presented for load changes. The controlling parameters are optimized by using Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA). The simulation results for the BESS/no BESS cases are compared. Results show that in no BESS case, the frequency control is more optimal than the BESS case by using ICA. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=renewable%20energy" title="renewable energy">renewable energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wind%20diesel%20system" title=" wind diesel system"> wind diesel system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=induction%20generator" title=" induction generator"> induction generator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20storage" title=" energy storage"> energy storage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=imperialist%20competitive%20algorithm" title=" imperialist competitive algorithm"> imperialist competitive algorithm</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26408/wind-diesel-hybrid-system-without-battery-energy-storage-using-imperialist-competitive-algorithm" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26408.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">560</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18</span> Seed Germination, Seedling Emergence and Response to Herbicides of Papaver Species (Papaver rhoeas and P. dubium)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Faezeh%20Zaefarian1">Faezeh Zaefarian1</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sajedeh%20Golmohammadzadeh"> Sajedeh Golmohammadzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Rezvani"> Mohammad Rezvani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Weed management decisions for weed species can be derived from knowledge of seed germination biology. Experiments were conducted in laboratory and greenhouse to determine the effects of light, temperature, salt and water stress, seed burial depth on seed germination and seedling emergence of Papaver rhoeas and P.dubium and to assay the response of these species to commonly available POST herbicides. Germination of the Papaver seeds was influenced by the tested temperatures (day/night temperatures of 20 and 25 °C) and light. The concentrations of sodium chloride, ranging from 0 to 80 mM, influence germination of seeds. The osmotic potential required for 50% inhibition of maximum germination of P. rhoeas was -0.27 MPa and for P. dubium species was 0.25 MPa. Seedling emergence was greatest for the seeds placed at 1 cm and emergence declined with increased burial depth in the soil. No seedlings emerged from a burial depth of 6 cm. The herbicide 2,4-D at 400 g ai ha-1 provided excellent control of both species when applied at the four-leaf and six-leaf stages. However, at the six-leaf stage, percent control was reduced. The information gained from this study could contribute to developing components of integrated weed management strategies for Papaver species. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=germination" title="germination">germination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=papaver%20species" title=" papaver species"> papaver species</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=planting%20depth" title=" planting depth"> planting depth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=POST%20herbicides" title=" POST herbicides"> POST herbicides</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74621/seed-germination-seedling-emergence-and-response-to-herbicides-of-papaver-species-papaver-rhoeas-and-p-dubium" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74621.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">244</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">17</span> Addressing Security and Privacy Issues in a Smart Environment by Using Block-Chain as a Preemptive Technique</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahbaz%20Pervez">Shahbaz Pervez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aljawharah%20Almuhana"> Aljawharah Almuhana</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zahida%20Parveen"> Zahida Parveen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Naz"> Samina Naz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hira%20Tariq"> Hira Tariq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Hosseini"> Seyed Hosseini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Awais%20Azam"> Muhammad Awais Azam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the latest development in the field of cutting-edge technologies, there is a rapid increase in the use of technology-oriented gadgets. In a recent scenario of the tech era, there is increasing demand to fulfill our day-to-day routine tasks with the help of technological gadgets. We are living in an era of technology where trends have been changing, and a race to introduce a new technology gadget has already begun. Smart cities are getting more popular with every passing day; city councils and governments are under enormous pressure to provide the latest services for their citizens and equip them with all the latest facilities. Thus, ultimately, they are going more into smart cities infrastructure building, providing services to their inhabitants with a single click from their smart devices. This trend is very exciting, but on the other hand, if some incident of security breach happens due to any weaker link, the results would be catastrophic. Radiochemical purity and labeling efficiency was determined by Whattman paper No.3 and instant thin layer chromatographic strips impregnated with silica gel (ITLC/SG). Labeling efficiency was dependent on many parameters such as amount of ligand, reducing agent, pH, and incubation time. Therefore, optimum conditions for maximum labeling were selected. Stability of 99 mTc- 5-ALA was also checked in fresh human serum. Tissue bio-distribution of 99 mTc-5-ALA was evaluated in Spargue Dawley rats. 5-ALA was 98% labeled with 99 mTc under optimum conditions, i.e. 100µg of 5-ALA, pH: 4, 10µg of Sncl2.2H2O and 30 minutes incubation at room temperature. 99 mTc labelled 5- ALA remained stable for 24 hours in human serum. Bio-distribution study (%ID/gm) in rats revealed that maximum accumulation of 99 mTc-5-ALA was in liver, spleen, stomach and intestine after half hour, 4 hours, and 24 hours. Significant activity in bladder and urine indicated urinary mode of excretion. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=99mTc-ALA" title="99mTc-ALA">99mTc-ALA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aminolevulinic%20acid" title=" aminolevulinic acid"> aminolevulinic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quality%20control" title=" quality control"> quality control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=radiopharmaceuticals" title=" radiopharmaceuticals"> radiopharmaceuticals</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5834/evaluation-of-labelling-conditions-quality-control-and-biodistribution-study-of-99mtc-d-aminolevulinic-acid-5-ala" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5834.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">384</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> Blockchain for IoT Security and Privacy in Healthcare Sector</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Umair%20Shafique">Umair Shafique</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hafiz%20Usman%20Zia"> Hafiz Usman Zia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fiaz%20Majeed"> Fiaz Majeed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Naz"> Samina Naz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javeria%20Ahmed"> Javeria Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maleeha%20Zainab"> Maleeha Zainab</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Internet of Things (IoT) has become a hot topic for the last couple of years. This innovative technology has shown promising progress in various areas, and the world has witnessed exponential growth in multiple application domains. Researchers are working to investigate its aptitudes to get the best from it by harnessing its true potential. But at the same time, IoT networks open up a new aspect of vulnerability and physical threats to data integrity, privacy, and confidentiality. It's is due to centralized control, data silos approach for handling information, and a lack of standardization in the IoT networks. As we know, blockchain is a new technology that involves creating secure distributed ledgers to store and communicate data. Some of the benefits include resiliency, integrity, anonymity, decentralization, and autonomous control. The potential for blockchain technology to provide the key to managing and controlling IoT has created a new wave of excitement around the idea of putting that data back into the hands of the end-users. In this manuscript, we have proposed a model that combines blockchain and IoT networks to address potential security and privacy issues in the healthcare domain. Then we try to describe various application areas, challenges, and future directions in the healthcare sector where blockchain platforms merge with IoT networks. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IoT" title="IoT">IoT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blockchain" title=" blockchain"> blockchain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cryptocurrency" title=" cryptocurrency"> cryptocurrency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=healthcare" title=" healthcare"> healthcare</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=consensus" title=" consensus"> consensus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data" title=" data"> data</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148647/blockchain-for-iot-security-and-privacy-in-healthcare-sector" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148647.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">180</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> Calibration of Resistance Factors for Reliability-Based Design of Driven Piles Considering Unsaturated Soil Effects</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Amin%20Tutunchian">Mohammad Amin Tutunchian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pedram%20Roshani"> Pedram Roshani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Reza%20Rezvani"> Reza Rezvani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Julio%20%C3%81ngel%20Infante%20Sedano"> Julio Ángel Infante Sedano</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The highly recommended approach to design, known as the load and resistance factor design (LRFD) method, employs the geotechnical resistance factor (GRF) for shaping pile foundation designs. Within the standard process for designing pile foundations, geotechnical engineers commonly adopt a design strategy rooted in saturated soil mechanics (SSM), often disregarding the impact of unsaturated soil behavior. This oversight within the design procedure leads to the omission of the enhancement in shear strength exhibited by unsaturated soils, resulting in a more cautious outcome in design results. This research endeavors to present a methodology for fine-tuning the GRF used for axially loaded driven piles in Winnipeg, Canada. This is achieved through the application of a well-established probabilistic approach known as the first-order second moment (FOSM) method while also accounting for the influence of unsaturated soil behavior. The findings of this study demonstrate that incorporating the influence of unsaturated conditions yields an elevation in projected bearing capacity and recommends higher GRF values in accordance with established codes. Additionally, a novel factor referred to as phy has been introduced to encompass the impact of saturation conditions in the calculation of pile bearing capacity, as guided by prevalent static analysis techniques. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unsaturated%20soils" title="unsaturated soils">unsaturated soils</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shear%20strength" title=" shear strength"> shear strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LRFD" title=" LRFD"> LRFD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FOSM" title=" FOSM"> FOSM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GRF" title=" GRF"> GRF</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171224/calibration-of-resistance-factors-for-reliability-based-design-of-driven-piles-considering-unsaturated-soil-effects" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171224.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">88</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> Biodegradation Potential of Selected Micromycetes against Dyeing Unit Effluents of Sapphire Industry in Raiwind Road Lahore</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Sarwar">Samina Sarwar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hajra%20Khalil"> Hajra Khalil</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Mycoremediation is emerging as a potential approach for eco-friendly and cost-effective remediation of polluted effluents collected from the dyeing unit of the textile industry was examined. Various frameworks, KMSs, and tools have been proposed to foster coordination and communication between virtual teams but practical implementation of these solutions has not been found. Organizations have to face challenges to implement knowledge management system. For this purpose at first, a literature review is arranged to investigate about challenges that restrict organizations to implement KMS and then by taking in account these challenges a problem of need of integrated solution in the form of standardized KMS that can easily store tacit and explicit knowledge, has traced down to facilitate coordination and collaboration among virtual teams. Literature review has been already shown that knowledge is a complex perception with profound meanings, and one of the most important resources that contributes to the competitive advantage of an organization. In order to meet the different challenges caused by not properly managing knowledge related to projects among virtual teams in GSE, we suggest making use of the cloud computing model. In this research a distributed architecture to support KM storage is proposed called conceptual framework of KM as a service in cloud. Framework presented is enhanced and conceptual framework of KM is embedded into that framework to store projects related knowledge for future use. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=management" title="management">management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Globsl%20software%20development" title=" Globsl software development"> Globsl software development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=global%20software%20engineering" title=" global software engineering"> global software engineering</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18834/the-role-of-knowledge-management-in-global-software-engineering" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18834.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">526</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Serotype Distribution and Demographics of Dengue Patients in a Tertiary Hospital of Lahore, Pakistan During the 2011 Epidemic</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Munir">Muhammad Munir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Riffat%20Mehboob"> Riffat Mehboob</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Naeem"> Samina Naeem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Salman"> Muhammad Salman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shehryar%20Ahmed"> Shehryar Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Irshad%20Hussain%20Qureshi"> Irshad Hussain Qureshi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tahira%20Murtaza%20Cheema"> Tahira Murtaza Cheema</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ashraf%20Sultan"> Ashraf Sultan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akmal%20Laeeq"> Akmal Laeeq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nakhshab%20Choudhry"> Nakhshab Choudhry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asad%20Aslam%20Khan"> Asad Aslam Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fridoon%20Jawad%20Ahmad"> Fridoon Jawad Ahmad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A dengue outbreak in Lahore, Pakistan during 2011 was unprecedented in terms of severity and magnitude. This research aims to determine the serotype distribution of dengue virus during this outbreak and classify the patients demographically. 5ml of venous blood was drawn aseptically from 166 patients with dengue-like signs to test for the virus between the months of August to November 2011. The samples were sent to the CDC, Atlanta, Georgia for the purpose of molecular assays to determine their serotype. RT-PCR protocol was performed targeting at the 4 dengue serotypes. Out of 166 cases, dengue infection was detected with RT-PCR in 95 cases, all infected with same serotype DEN-2. 75% of positive cases were males while 25% were females. Most positive patients were in the age range of 16-30 years. 33% positive cases had accompanying bleeding. This is first study during the 2011 dengue epidemic in Lahore that reports DEN-2 as the only prevalent serotype. It also indicates that more infected patients were males, adults, within age range of 16-30 years, peaked in the month of November, Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is manifested more in females, Ravi town was heavily hit by dengue virus infection. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dengue" title="dengue">dengue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=serotypes" title=" serotypes"> serotypes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pakistan" title=" Pakistan"> Pakistan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DEN%202" title=" DEN 2"> DEN 2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lahore" title=" Lahore"> Lahore</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=demography" title=" demography"> demography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=serotype%20distrbution" title=" serotype distrbution"> serotype distrbution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=2011%20epidemic" title=" 2011 epidemic "> 2011 epidemic </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1935/serotype-distribution-and-demographics-of-dengue-patients-in-a-tertiary-hospital-of-lahore-pakistan-during-the-2011-epidemic" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/1935.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">500</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Clarification of Taxonomic Confusions among Adulterated Drugs Coffee Seena and Seena Weed through Systematic and Pharmaceutical Markers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shabnum%20Shaheen">Shabnum Shaheen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nida%20Haroon"> Nida Haroon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farah%20Khan"> Farah Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sumera%20Javad"> Sumera Javad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehreen%20Jalal"> Mehreen Jalal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Sarwar"> Samina Sarwar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Coffee Senna is pharmaceutically very important and used for multiple health disorders such as gastric pains, indigestion, snakebites, asthma and fever, tuberculosis and menstrual problems. However, its immense medicinal value and great demand lead to adulteration issue which could be injurious for users. Some times its adulterant Seena weed (Senna occidentalis L.) is used as its substitute which definitely not as effective as Coffee Senna. Hence, the present study was undertaken to provide some tools for systematic and pharmaceutical authentication of a shrubby plant Coffee Senna (Cassia occidentalis Linn.). These parameters included macro and micro morphological characters, anatomical and palynomorph characterization, solubility, fluorescence and phytochemical analysis. By the application of these parameters acquired results revealed that, these two plants are distinct from each other. The Coffee Seena was found to be an annual shrub with trilobed pollen, diacytic, paracytic and anisocytic stomata whereas the Seena weed stands out as an annual or perennial herb with spheroidal and circular pollen and paracytic type of stomata. The powdered drug of Coffee seena is dark grayish green whereas the powdered drug of Seena weed is light green in color. These findings are constructive in authentic identification of these plants. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coffee%20senna" title="coffee senna">coffee senna</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Senna%20weed" title=" Senna weed"> Senna weed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=taxonomic%20evaluation" title=" taxonomic evaluation"> taxonomic evaluation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pharmaceutical%20markers" title=" pharmaceutical markers"> pharmaceutical markers</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47696/clarification-of-taxonomic-confusions-among-adulterated-drugs-coffee-seena-and-seena-weed-through-systematic-and-pharmaceutical-markers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/47696.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">513</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> Incidence of Iron Deficiency Anemia Among the Children with Febrile Seizures</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Nazli">Samina Nazli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nadia%20Qamar"> Nadia Qamar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Quratulain"> Quratulain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akasha"> Akasha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saman%20Jamal"> Saman Jamal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Objective: The objective is to determine the frequency of iron deficiency anemia among children having febrile seizures. One such initiative is taken at Habib University (HU), Pakistan, through renewable energy course, one of the core offerings, where students are trained to investigate various aspects of renewable energy concepts. The course is offered to all freshmen enrolled at HU regardless of their academic backgrounds and degree programs. A four-credit modular course includes both theory and laboratory elements. Hands-on laboratories play an important role in science classes, particularly to enhance the motivation and deep understanding of energy science. A set of selected hands-on activities included in course introduced students to explore the latest developments in the field of renewable energy such as dye-sensitized solar cells, gas chromatography, global warming, climate change, fuel cell energy and power of biomass etc. These projects not only helped HU freshmen to build on energy fundamentals but also provided them greater confidence in investigating, questioning and experimenting with renewable energy related conceptions. A feedback survey arranged during and end of term revealed the effectiveness of the hands-on laboratory to enhance the common understanding of real world problems related to energy such as awareness of energy saving, the level of concern about global climate change, environmental pollution and science of energy behind the energy usage. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biochemical%20approaches" title="biochemical approaches">biochemical approaches</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20curriculum" title=" energy curriculum"> energy curriculum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hands-on%20laboratory" title=" hands-on laboratory"> hands-on laboratory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=renewable%20energy" title=" renewable energy"> renewable energy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71943/biochemical-approach-to-renewable-energy-enhancing-students-perception-and-understanding-of-science-of-energy-through-integrated-hands-on-laboratory" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71943.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">256</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Effects of Bed Type, Corm Weight and Lifting Time on Quantitative and Qualitative Criteria of Saffron (Crocus sativus L.)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Mollafilabi">A. Treatments were two corm weights (8-10, 10 < g), two planting beds (stone wool and peat moss) and five levels of lifting time (mi-June, early July, mid-July, early August and mid-August). No. of corms were 457 corms.m-2 and for 40 days and were stored for 90 days in incubation, 85% relative humidity and 25°C temperature in the darkness. Then, saffron corms were transferred to growth chamber with 17 °C in 8 hours light and 16 hours darkness. Characteristics were number of flower, fresh weight of flower, dry weight of flower, fresh and dry weight of stigma, fresh and dry weight of style, fresh and dry weight of stigma+style and Picrocrocin, Safronal and Crocin contents of saffron were measured. Results showed that the corm weight, bed type and time of corm lifting had significant effects on economical yield of saffron such as picked flowers, dry weight of stigma and fresh weight of flowers. The highest saffron economical yield was obtained in interaction of corm weight, 10 g, peat moss and lifting time in mid-June as much as 5.2 g.m-2. This yield is 11 fold of average yield of Iranian farms. Picrocrocin, Safranal and Crocin contents was graded as excellent thread in peat moss under controlled conditions compared with ISO Standard of 203. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corm%20density" title="corm density">corm density</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dry%20stigma" title=" dry stigma"> dry stigma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safranal-flowering" title=" safranal-flowering"> safranal-flowering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=yield%20saffron" title=" yield saffron"> yield saffron</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40007/effects-of-bed-type-corm-weight-and-lifting-time-on-quantitative-and-qualitative-criteria-of-saffron-crocus-sativus-l" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40007.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">333</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Study on Developmental and Pathogenesis Related Genes Expression Deregulation in Brassica compestris Infected with 16Sr-IX Associated Phytoplasma </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Jam%20Nazeer%20Ahmad">Samina Jam Nazeer Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samia%20%20Yasin"> Samia Yasin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ijaz%20Ahmad"> Ijaz Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Tahir"> Muhammad Tahir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jam%20Nazeer%20Ahmad"> Jam Nazeer Ahmad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Phytoplasmas are phloem-inhibited plant pathogenic bacteria that are transferred by insect vectors. Among biotic factors, Phytoplasma infection induces abnormality influencing the physiology as well as morphology of plants. In 16Sr-IX group phytoplasma-infected brassica compestris, flower abnormalities have been associated with changes in the expression of floral development genes. To determine whether methylation was involved in down-regulation of flower development, the process of DNA methylation and Demethylation was investigated as a possible mechanism for regulation of floral gene expression in phytoplasma infected Brassica transmitted by Orosious orientalis vector by using RT-PCR, MSRE-PCR, Southern blotting, Bisulfite Sequencing, etc. Transcriptional expression of methylated genes was found to be globally down-regulated in plants infected with phytoplasma, but not severely in those infested by insect vectors and variation in expression was found in genes involved in methylation. These results also showed that genes particularly orthologous to Arabidopsis APETALA3 involved in petal formation and flower development was down-regulated severely in phytoplasma-infected brassica and with the fact that phytoplasma and insect induce variation in developmental gene expression. The DNA methylation status of flower developmental gene in phytoplasma infected plants with 5-azacytidine restored gene expression strongly suggesting that DNA methylation was involved in down-regulation of floral development genes in phytoplasma infected brassica. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=genes%20expression" title="genes expression">genes expression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phytoplasma" title=" phytoplasma"> phytoplasma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DNA%20methylation" title=" DNA methylation"> DNA methylation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flower%20development" title=" flower development"> flower development</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87401/study-on-developmental-and-pathogenesis-related-genes-expression-deregulation-in-brassica-compestris-infected-with-16sr-ix-associated-phytoplasma" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87401.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">374</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Clinical Evaluation of Neutrophil to Lymphocytes Ratio and Platelets to Lymphocytes Ratio in Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aisha%20Arshad">Aisha Arshad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Naz%20Mukry"> Samina Naz Mukry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tahir%20Shamsi"> Tahir Shamsi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder. Besides platelets counts, immature platelets fraction (IPF) can be used as tool to predict megakaryocytic activity in ITP patients. The clinical biomarkers like Neutrophils to lymphocytes ratio (NLR) and platelet to lymphocytes ratio(PLR) predicts inflammation and can be used as prognostic markers. The present study was planned to assess the ratios in ITP and their utility in predicting prognosis after treatment. Methods: A total of 111 patients of ITP with same number of healthy individuals were included in this case control study during the period of January 2015 to December 2017.All the ITP patients were grouped according to guidelines of International working group of ITP. A 3cc blood was collected in EDTA tube and blood parameters were evaluated using Sysmex 1000 analyzer. The ratios were calculated by using absolute counts of Neutrophils,Lymphocytes and platelets. The significant (p=<0.05) difference between ITP patients and healthy control groups was determined by Kruskal wallis test, Dunn’s test and spearman’s correlation test was done using SPSS version 23. Results: The significantly raised total leucocytes counts (TLC) and IPF along with low platelets counts were observed in ITP patients as compared to healthy controls. In ITP groups, very low platelet count with median and IQR of 2(3.8)3x109/l with highest mean and IQR IPF 25.4(19.8)% was observed in newly diagnosed ITP group. The NLR was high with prognosis of disease as higher levels were observed in P-ITP. The PLR was significantly low in ND-ITP ,P-ITP, C-ITP, R-ITP and compared to controls with p=<0.001 as platelet were less in number in all ITP patients. Conclusion: The IPF can be used in evaluation of bone marrow response in ITP. The simple, reliable and calculated NLR and PLR ratios can be used in predicting prognosis and response to treatment in ITP and to some extend the severity of disease. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neutrophils" title="neutrophils">neutrophils</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=platelets" title=" platelets"> platelets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lymphocytes" title=" lymphocytes"> lymphocytes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infection" title=" infection"> infection</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154401/clinical-evaluation-of-neutrophil-to-lymphocytes-ratio-and-platelets-to-lymphocytes-ratio-in-immune-thrombocytopenic-purpura" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154401.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">95</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Comparing Productivity of the Foreign versus Local Construction Workers Based on Their Level of Technical Training and Cultural Characteristics: Case Study of Kish Island, Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mansour%20Rezvani">Mansour Rezvani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Mahdi%20Mortaheb"> Mohammad Mahdi Mortaheb</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study considers the employment of foreign workforce in Kish Free Trade and Industrial Zone and aims to investigate the productivity of foreign construction labours as compared to their local counterpart. After implementing the context validity test, 52 factors were stated in 52 questions based on five major groups consist of: (1) economical, (2) social and cultural, (3) individual, (4) technical, (5) organizational, environmental and legal. Based on the quantified Relative Importance Index, the ten most important factors, ten less important factors, and three most important categories were identified. To date, there is not any comprehensive study that explores the important critical factors in mega construction projects on Kish Island to identify the major problems to decrease demand for foreign workers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cultural%20characteristics" title="cultural characteristics">cultural characteristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=foreign%20worker" title=" foreign worker"> foreign worker</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=local%20construction%20workers" title=" local construction workers"> local construction workers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=productivity" title=" productivity"> productivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=technical%20training" title=" technical training"> technical training</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96222/comparing-productivity-of-the-foreign-versus-local-construction-workers-based-on-their-level-of-technical-training-and-cultural-characteristics-case-study-of-kish-island-iran" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96222.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Current Status of Inclusive Education for Students with Disabilities in Punjab, Pakistan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Shahid%20Shah">Muhammad Shahid Shah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akram%20Maqbool"> Akram Maqbool</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Ashraf"> Samina Ashraf</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Since start of this century, world has adopted inclusion as a trend in special education. To meet the challenges of inclusion response, the Punjab government has developed a progressive policy to implement inclusive education. The objectives of this research were to analyze the administration and implementation process by consideration on the management, student’s admission process, screening and assessment, adaptations in curriculum and instruction along with an evaluation, government and nonprofit organizations support. The sample consisted of 50 schools both public and private with a total of 3000 students, 9 percent of which (270) were students with disabilities. Among all the students with disabilities, 63 percent (170) were male and 37 percent (100) were female. The concluded remarks regarding management revealed that a large number of inclusive schools was lacking in terms of developing a certain model for inclusion, including the managerial breakup of staff, the involvement of stakeholders, and conducted frequent meetings. Many of schools are not able to restructure their school organizations due to lack of financial resources, consultations, and backup. As for as student’s admission/identification/assessment was concerned, only 12 percent schools applied a selection process regarding student admission, half of which used different procedures for disable candidates. Approximately 5 percent of inclusive schools had modified their curriculum, including a variety of standards. In terms of instruction, 25 percent of inclusive schools reported that they modified their instructional process. Only a few schools, however, provided special equipment for students with visual impairment, physical impairment, speech and hearing problems, students with mild intellectual disabilities, and autism. In a student evaluation, more than 45 percent reported that test items, administration, time allocations, and students’ reports were modified. For the primary board examination conducted by the Education Department of Government of Punjab, this number decreased dramatically. Finally, government and nonprofit organizations support in the forms of funding, coaching, and facilities were mostly provided by provincial governments and by Ghazali Education Trust. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inclusion" title="inclusion">inclusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=identification" title=" identification"> identification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=assessment" title=" assessment"> assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=funding" title=" funding"> funding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=facilities" title=" facilities"> facilities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=evaluation" title=" evaluation"> evaluation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92858/current-status-of-inclusive-education-for-students-with-disabilities-in-punjab-pakistan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92858.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">138</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Organic Geochemistry and Oil-Source Correlation of Cretaceous Sediments in the Kohat Basin, Pakistan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Syed%20Mamoon%20Siyar">Syed Mamoon Siyar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fayaz%20Ali"> Fayaz Ali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sajjad%20Ahmad"> Sajjad Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samina%20Jahandad"> Samina Jahandad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=George%20Kontakiotis"> George Kontakiotis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hammad%20T.%20Janjuhah"> Hammad T. The total organic carbon (TOC) values in Chanda-02, Chanda-03 and Mela-05 indicate, in general, poor to fair, fair and fair to good source rock potential with low genetic potential, respectively. The nature of organic matter has been determined by standard cross plots of Rock Eval pyrolysis parameters, indicating that studied cuttings from the Chichali Formation dominantly contain type III kerogen at present and show maturity for oil generation in the studied wells. The organic petrographic study also confirmed the vitrinite (type III) as a major maceral in the investigated Chichali Shales and its reflectance values show maturity for oil. The different ratios of non-biomarkers and biomarkers i.e., steranes, terpenes and aromatics parameters, indicate the marine source of organic matter deposited in the anoxic environment for the Chichali Formation in Chanda-01 and Chanda-02 wells and mixed source input of organic matter deposited in suboxic conditions for oil in the same wells. The CPI, and different biomarkers parameters such as C29 S/S+R, ββ/αα+ββ), M29/H30, Ts/Ts+Tm, H31 (S/S+R) and aromatic compounds methyl phenanthrene index (MPI) and organic petrographic analysis (vitrinite reflectance) suggest mature stage of oil generation for Chichali Shales and oil samples in the study area with little high thermal maturity in case of oils. Based on source and thermal maturity biomarkers and non-biomarkers parameters, the produced oils have no correlation with the Cretaceous Chichali Formation in the studied Chanda-01 and Chanda-02 wells in Kohat Basin, Pakistan, but it has been suggested that these oils have been generated by the strata containing high terrestrial organic input compare to Chichali Shales. <p
