They are also designated as a <a href="/eng/1672857022307/1698255176737">trusted source for registration and status cards</a>.</p> <p> Their roles may vary from First Nation to First Nation. They are assigned specific responsibilities by the <a href="/eng/1100100032463/1572459644986#sec4">Registrar</a>, and are able to:</p> <ul> <li>help First Nation members apply for registration and status cards</li> <li>maintain the accuracy of the <a href="/eng/1100100032463/1572459644986#chp3">Indian Register</a></li> <li>maintain <a rel="external" href="https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/i-5/section-8.html">membership lists</a></li> </ul> <p>Funding is provided to First Nations and tribal councils to support the administration of ISC services and programs.
