and you will take<MH3423> possession<MH3423> of their land<MH776>, just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>promised<MH1696> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/23-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Be<MH2388> very<MH3966> determined<MH2388>, then, to keep<MH8104> and do<MH6213a> everything<MH3605> that is written<MH3789> in the Book<MH5612> of the Law<MH8451> of Moses<MH4872>, so that you will not turn<MH5493> aside<MH5493> from it to the right<MH3225> or to the left<MH8040>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/23-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>so that you will not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>associate<MH935> with these<MH428> nations<MH1471>, these<MH428> which remain<MH7604> with you, or mention<MH2142> the name<MH8034> of their gods<MH430>, or make <i>anyone</i> swear<MH7650> <i>by them,</i> or serve<MH5647> them, or bow<MH2331c> down<MH2331c> to them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/23-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But you are to cling<MH1692> to the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>, as you have done<MH6213a> to this<MH2088> day<MH3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/23-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>For the LORD<MH3068> has <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>driven<MH3423> out<MH3423> great<MH1419> and mighty<MH6099> nations<MH1471> from before<MH6440> you; and as for you, no<MH3808> one<MH376> has stood<MH5975> against<MH6440> you to this<MH2088> day<MH3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/23-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>One<MH259> of your men<MH376> puts<MH7291> to<MH7291> flight<MH7291> a thousand<MH505>, for the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> is He who fights<MH3898a> for you, just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> He <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>promised<MH1696> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/23-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>So take<MH8104> great<MH3966> care<MH8104> for yourselves<MH5315> that you love<MH157> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/23-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>For if<MH518> you ever<MH7725> go<MH7725> back<MH7725> and cling<MH1692> to the rest<MH3499a> of these<MH428> nations<MH1471>, these<MH428> which remain<MH7604> with you, and intermarry<MH2859> with them, so that you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>associate<MH935> with them and they with you, <span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/23-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>know<MH3045> with<MH3045> certainty<MH3045> that the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> will not continue<MH3254> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>drive<MH3423> these<MH428> nations<MH1471> out<MH3423> from before<MH6440> you; but they will be a snare<MH6341a> and a trap<MH4170> to you, and a whip<MH7850> on your sides<MH6654> and thorns<MH6796> in your eyes<MH5869>, until<MH5704> you perish<MH6> from this<MH2088> good<MH2896a> land<MH127> which<MH834> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> has given<MH5414> you. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/joshua/23-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>“Now behold<MH2009>, today<MH3117> I am going<MH1980> the way<MH1870> of all<MH3605> the earth<MH776>, and you know<MH3045> in all<MH3605> your hearts<MH3824> and in all<MH3605> your souls<MH5315> that not one<MH259> word<MH1697> of all<MH3605> the good<MH2896a> words<MH1697> which<MH834> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> spoke<MH1696> concerning<MH5921> you has failed<MH5307>;
