and He was speaking<MG2980> the word<MG3056> to them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And <i>some people</i> *came<MG2064>, bringing<MG5342> to Him a man<MG3885> who was paralyzed<MG3885>, carried<MG142> by four<MG5064> <i>men.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>And when they were unable<MG3361, 1410> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>get<MG4374> to Him because<MG1223> of the crowd<MG3793>, they removed<MG648> the roof<MG4721> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>above<MG3699> Him; and after digging<MG1846> an<MG1846> opening<MG1846>, they let<MG5465> down<MG5465> the pallet<MG2895> on which<MG3699> the paralyzed<MG3885> man<MG3885> was lying<MG2621>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And Jesus<MG2424>, seeing<MG3708> their faith<MG4102>, *said<MG3004> to the paralyzed<MG3885> man<MG3885>, “Son<MG5043>, your sins<MG266> are forgiven<MG863>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>But some<MG5100> of the scribes<MG1122> were sitting<MG2521> there<MG1563> and thinking<MG1260> <i>it</i> over<MG1260> in their hearts<MG2588>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>“Why<MG5101> does this<MG3778> man<MG3778> speak<MG2980> that way<MG3779>? He is blaspheming<MG987>! Who<MG5101> can<MG1410> forgive<MG863> sins<MG266> except<MG1508> God<MG2316> alone<MG1520>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Immediately<MG2117> Jesus<MG2424>, aware<MG1921> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>in His spirit<MG4151> that they were thinking<MG1260> that<MG3779> way<MG3779> within<MG1722> themselves<MG1438>, *said<MG3004> to them, “Why<MG5101> are you thinking<MG1260> about<MG1260> these<MG3778> things<MG3778> in your hearts<MG2588>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Which<MG5101> is easier<MG2123>, to say<MG3004> to the paralyzed<MG3885> man<MG3885>, ‘Your sins<MG266> are forgiven<MG863>’; or<MG2228> to say<MG3004>, ‘Get<MG1453> up<MG1453>, and pick<MG142> up<MG142> your pallet<MG2895> and walk<MG4043>’? <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But so<MG2443> that<MG2443> you may know<MG3609a> that the Son<MG5207> of Man<MG444> has<MG2192> authority<MG1849> on earth<MG1093> to forgive<MG863> sins<MG266>”—He *said<MG3004> to the paralyzed<MG3885> man<MG3885>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>“I say<MG3004> to you, get<MG1453> up<MG1453>, pick<MG142> up<MG142> your pallet<MG2895>, and go<MG5217> home<MG3624>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And he got<MG1453> up<MG1453> and immediately<MG2117> picked<MG142> up<MG142> the pallet<MG2895> and went<MG1831> out<MG1831> in the sight<MG1715> of everyone<MG3956>, so<MG5620> that<MG5620> they were all<MG3956> amazed<MG1839> and were glorifying<MG1392> God<MG2316>, saying<MG3004>, “We have never<MG3763> seen<MG3708> <i>anything</i> like<MG3779> this<MG3779>!” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And He went<MG1831> out<MG1831> again<MG3825> by the seashore<MG2281>; and all<MG3956> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>people<MG3793> were coming<MG2064> to Him, and He was teaching<MG1321> them. <p class="hdg">Levi (Matthew) Called</p><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>As He passed<MG3855> by, He saw<MG3708> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>Levi<MG3017> the <i>son</i> of Alphaeus<MG256b> sitting<MG2521> in the tax<MG5058> office<MG5058>, and He *said<MG3004> to him, “Follow<MG190> Me!” And he got<MG450> up<MG450> and followed<MG190> Him. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And it *happened<MG1096> that He was reclining<MG2621> <i>at the table</i> in his house<MG3614>, and many<MG4183> tax<MG5057> collectors<MG5057> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>sinners<MG268> were <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>dining<MG4873> with Jesus<MG2424> and His disciples<MG3101>; for there were many<MG4183> <i>of them,</i> and they were following<MG190> Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>When the scribes<MG1122> of the Pharisees<MG5330> saw<MG3708> that He was eating<MG2068> with the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>sinners<MG268> and tax<MG5057> collectors<MG5057>, they said<MG3004> to His disciples<MG3101>, “Why<MG5101> is He eating<MG2068> with tax<MG5057> collectors<MG5057> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>sinners<MG268>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And hearing<MG191> <i>this,</i> Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to them, “<i>It is</i> not those<MG3588> who are healthy<MG2480> who need<MG5532> a physician<MG2395>, but those<MG3588> who are sick<MG2560>; I did not come<MG2064> to call<MG2564> the righteous<MG1342>, but sinners<MG268>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>John’s<MG2491> disciples<MG3101> and the Pharisees<MG5330> were fasting<MG3522>; and they *came<MG2064> and *said<MG3004> to Him, “Why<MG1223, 5101> do John’s<MG2491> disciples<MG3101> and the disciples<MG3101> of the Pharisees<MG5330> fast<MG3522>, but Your disciples<MG3101> do not fast<MG3522>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/2-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>And Jesus<MG2424> said<MG3004> to them, “While<MG1722, 3739> the groom<MG3566> is with them, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>the attendants<MG5207> of the groom<MG3567> cannot<MG1410, 3361> fast<MG3522>, can they?
