and that night<MG3571> they caught<MG4084> nothing<MG3762>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>But when the day<MG4405> was now<MG2235> breaking<MG1096>, Jesus<MG2424> stood<MG2476> on the beach<MG123>; yet<MG3305> the disciples<MG3101> did not know<MG3609a> that it was Jesus<MG2424>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>So<MG3767> Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to them, “Children<MG3813>, you do not have<MG2192> any<MG5100> fish<MG4371> to<MG4371> eat<MG4371>, do you?” They answered<MG611> Him, “No<MG3756>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And He said<MG3004> to them, “Cast<MG906> the net<MG1350> on the right-hand<MG1188> side<MG3313> of the boat<MG4143>, and you will find<MG2147> <i>the fish.</i>” So<MG3767> they cast<MG906> <i>it,</i> and then<MG3765> they were<MG2480> not able<MG2480> to haul<MG1670> it in because<MG575> of the great<MG4128> quantity<MG4128> of fish<MG2486>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767> that disciple<MG3101> whom<MG3739> Jesus<MG2424> loved<MG25> *said<MG3004> to Peter<MG4074>, “It is the Lord<MG2962>!” So<MG3767> when Simon<MG4613> Peter<MG4074> heard<MG191> that it was the Lord<MG2962>, he put<MG1241> on<MG1241> his outer<MG1903> garment<MG1903> (for he was stripped<MG1131> <i>for work),</i> and threw<MG906> himself<MG1438> into the sea<MG2281>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But the other<MG243> disciples<MG3101> came<MG2064> in the little<MG4142> boat<MG4142>, for they were not far<MG3112> from the land<MG1093>, but about<MG5613> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>two<MG1250> hundred<MG1250> cubits<MG4083> away<MG575>, dragging<MG4951> the net<MG1350> <i>full</i> of fish<MG2486>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>So<MG3767> when<MG5613> they got<MG576> out<MG576> on the land<MG1093>, they *saw<MG991> a charcoal<MG439> fire<MG439> <i>already</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>made<MG2749> and fish<MG3795> placed<MG1945> on it, and bread<MG740>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to them, “Bring<MG5342> some<MG575> of the fish<MG3795> which<MG3739> you have now<MG3568> caught<MG4084>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>So<MG3767> Simon<MG4613> Peter<MG4074> went<MG305> up<MG305> and hauled<MG1670> the net<MG1350> to land<MG1093>, full<MG3324> of large<MG3173> fish<MG2486>, 153<MG4004, 5140>; and although there were so<MG5118> many<MG5118>, the net<MG1350> was not torn<MG4977>. <p class="hdg">Jesus Provides</p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to them, “Come<MG1205> <i>and</i> have<MG709> breakfast<MG709>.” None<MG3762> of the disciples<MG3101> ventured<MG5111> to inquire<MG1833> of Him, “Who<MG5101> are You?” knowing<MG3609a> that it was the Lord<MG2962>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> *came<MG2064> and *took<MG2983> the bread<MG740> and *gave<MG1325> <i>it</i> to them, and the fish<MG3795> likewise<MG3668>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>This<MG3778> was now<MG2235> the third<MG5154> time<MG5154> that Jesus<MG2424> revealed<MG5319> Himself to the disciples<MG3101>, after He was raised<MG1453> from the dead<MG3498>. <p class="hdg">The Love Question</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Now<MG3767> when<MG3753> they had finished<MG709> breakfast<MG709>, Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to Simon<MG4613> Peter<MG4074>, “Simon<MG4613>, <i>son</i> of John<MG2491>, do you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>love<MG25> Me more<MG4183> than these<MG3778>?” He *said<MG3004> to Him, “Yes<MG3483a>, Lord<MG2962>; You know<MG3609a> that I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>love<MG5368> You.” He *said<MG3004> to him, “Tend<MG1006> My lambs<MG721b>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>He *said<MG3004> to him again<MG3825>, a second<MG1208> time<MG1208>, “Simon<MG4613>, <i>son</i> of John<MG2491>, do you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>love<MG25> Me?” He *said<MG3004> to Him, “Yes<MG3483a>, Lord<MG2962>; You know<MG3609a> that I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>love<MG5368> You.” He *said<MG3004> to him, “Shepherd<MG4165> My sheep<MG4263a>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>He *said<MG3004> to him the third<MG5154> time<MG5154>, “Simon<MG4613>, <i>son</i> of John<MG2491>, do you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>love<MG5368> Me?” Peter<MG4074> was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>hurt<MG3076> because<MG3754> He said<MG3004> to him the third<MG5154> time<MG5154>, “Do you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>love<MG5368> Me?” And he said<MG3004> to Him, “Lord<MG2962>, You know<MG3609a> all<MG3956> things<MG3956>; You know<MG1097> that I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>love<MG5368> You.” Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to him, “Tend<MG1006> My sheep<MG4263a>. <p class="hdg">Our Times Are in His Hand</p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Truly<MG281>, truly<MG281> I tell<MG3004> you, when<MG3753> you were younger<MG3501b>, you used to put<MG2224> on<MG2224> your belt<MG2224> and walk<MG4043> wherever<MG3699> you wanted<MG2309>; but when<MG3752> you grow<MG1095> old<MG1095>, you will stretch<MG1614> out<MG1614> your hands<MG5495> and someone<MG243> else<MG243> will put<MG2224> your belt<MG2224> on<MG2224> you, and bring<MG5342> <i>you</i> where<MG3699> you do not want<MG2309> <i>to go.</i>” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> He said<MG3004> this<MG3778>, indicating<MG4591> by what<MG4169> kind<MG4169> of death<MG2288> he would glorify<MG1392> God<MG2316>. And when He had said<MG3004> this<MG3778>, He *said<MG3004> to him, “Follow<MG190> Me!” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Peter<MG4074> turned<MG1994> around<MG1994> and *saw<MG991> the disciple<MG3101> whom<MG3739> Jesus<MG2424> loved<MG25> following<MG190> <i>them</i>—the one who<MG3739> also<MG2532> had leaned<MG377> back<MG377> on His chest<MG4738> at the supper<MG1173> and said<MG3004>, “Lord<MG2962>, who<MG5101> is the one who is betraying<MG3860> You?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>So<MG3767> Peter<MG4074>, upon seeing<MG3708> him, *said<MG3004> to Jesus<MG2424>, “Lord<MG2962>, and what<MG5101> <i>about</i> this<MG3778> man<MG3778>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to him, “If<MG1437> I want<MG2309> him to remain<MG3306> until<MG2193> I come<MG2064>, what<MG5101> <i>is that</i> to you?
