Due to the near river, this municipality always has been an important transit area and was already settled in prehistoric times. This is proofed by archaeological findings, like a female skeleton, which is known as “La donna di Vatte” (the woman of Vatte), it is exhibited in the <a href="https://www.trentino.com/en/highlights/museums-and-exhibitions/muse-science-museum-of-trento/">Scientific Museum of Trento</a> today.
