<h2>――クームラズワミとデューイの『ヴィジョン』を手がかりに</h2> <div class="name">秋田光軌氏</div> <h1>1.　はじめに</h1><p>筆者は浄土宗僧侶として寺院を母体とする幼稚園経営に携わっているが、全力で遊ぶ子どもたちの姿に思わず胸打たれることがある。サーキット遊びのように皆でいっしょに日々繰り返す活動にしろ、絵画制作のように一人ひとりの興味関心を基礎とする活動にしろ、それら全てを楽しみ尽くそうとするかのように、子どもたちは無我夢中で遊んでいる。その現場には「生命が輝く」という言い方でしか表せない空気が存在し、計画的に活動を配置する保育者のねらいをも時に越えて、場をともにする人間の内に特別な感慨をもたらすのである。</p><p>教育学者の矢野智司は、19世紀に「子どもたちの庭（kindergarten）」として幼稚園を創設したフリードリヒ・フレーベルの思想に言及し、この場の意義について語っている。フレーベルは、子どもが遊びに全身全霊をかけて入り込むことで自己と世界や他者とを隔てる境界が溶解する体験を「生の合一」と呼んだ<span class="chuushaku">1<span class="balloon_afr"><span class= "sp">1</span>矢野智司『幼児理解の現象学メディアが開く子どもの生命世界』萌文書林, 2014, p.243</span></span>。それを受けて矢野は、幼稚園は宇宙をつらぬいて子どもに内在する生命法則を実現する場所として構想されていた、と述べている。また、子どもと大人が出会うことで大人においてもその実現が試みられる。フレーベル−矢野に依るならば、幼稚園とは「大人と子どもの生命の革新の場所」なのである<span class="chuushaku">2<span class="balloon_afr"><span class= "sp">2</span>矢野智司『意味が躍動する生とは何か遊ぶ子どもの人間学』世織書房, 2006, pp.106-108</span></span>。</p><p>フレーべルの思想と実践が神との関係において存在したように、かつて「生命の革新」の役割を主に担ったのは宗教の領域であった。しかし、現代においては世俗化が進行しており、同じような意味で宗教に期待することはできない<span class="chuushaku">3<span class="balloon_afr"><span class= "sp">3</span>島薗進は「個人は、堅固な共同体を通して伝承された価値や文化を受け継ぎ宗教的な観念や実践にふれる度合いが低くなっている。いわば裸で実存的な危機に直面しており、個々人それぞれの、またそのつどぶちあたる個々の危機に相応した交わりやネットワーク（中略）を通して、超越的なものとの出会いを成しとげていかなくてはならない」と、個人の再聖化（宗教化）の傾向を指摘する（島薗進『スピリチュアリティの興隆新霊性文化とその周辺』岩波書店, 2007, pp.295-296）。また、排他主義的で内閉的な宗教集団の興隆についても、個人化に対抗し、集団的連帯を目指した選択を行う点で、共通の傾向を反映するものだとしている（同書pp.298-301）。</span></span>。一方、矢野は現代の状況について、事物や行為を何らかの目的達成の手段と見なす「目的―手段」関係が主流であるとし、フレーベルの示した「生命の革新」はルーティン化した世界の区切り方を変え、からだを通して全面的に世界や他者と出会わせる点において、今こそ重要であるという。そこで矢野は、生命に触れる体験を子どもや親に媒介する保育者の役割に期待を寄せるが<span class="chuushaku">4<span class="balloon_afr"><span class= "sp">4</span>矢野, 前掲注1, pp.268-271</span></span>、その期待が現代の保育者にとって過大なものとなることも容易に想像がつく。「生命の革新」の重要性については私たちは十分に理解しつつ、保育者に任せるだけではない、それ以外のアプローチを同時に検討すべきである。</p><p>さて本稿が主題とするのは、戦後日本を代表する思想家、鶴見俊輔（1922-2015）の限界芸術である。鶴見は1960年の論文「芸術の発展」で、いわゆる「芸術」と呼ばれる作品を、専門的芸術家によってつくられ、専門的享受者をもつ「純粋芸術（Pure Art）」とし、大衆的でそれより価値が劣ると見なされている作品を、制作過程は企業家と専門的芸術家との合作の形をとり、大衆がそれを享受する「大衆芸術（Popular Art）」として区分する。そして第三の区分として、先の二つよりも広大な領域にまたがり、芸術と生活との境界線上にある「限界芸術（Marginal Art）」を提唱した。それは非専門的芸術家によってつくられ、非専門的享受者によって享受されるものだという。</p><p>限界芸術の例として、鼻歌、替え歌、らくがき、盆踊り、祭、葬式等があげられているが、これらはあまりに生活に密着しているがゆえに、従来の視点からすれば、純粋芸術、大衆芸術、限界芸術の順に芸術的価値が失われていくと解釈される。しかし、鶴見は「今日の人間が芸術に接近する道も、最初には新聞紙でつくったカブトとか、奴ダコやコマ<span class="chuushaku">5<span class="balloon_afr"><span class= "sp">5</span>鶴見俊輔「芸術の発展」『限界芸術論』所収, 筑摩書房, 1999（1960）,
