God<MH430> had indeed<MH3588> blessed<MH1288> him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Also to his son<MH1121> Shemaiah<MH8098> sons<MH1121> were born<MH3205> who ruled<MH4474> over the house<MH1004> of their father<MH1>, for they were valiant<MH2428> mighty<MH1368> men<MH1368>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>The sons<MH1121> of Shemaiah<MH8098> <i>were</i> Othni<MH6273>, Rephael<MH7501>, Obed<MH5744>, and Elzabad<MH443>, whose brothers<MH251>, Elihu<MH453> and Semachiah<MH5565>, were valiant<MH2428> men<MH1121>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>All<MH3605> these<MH428> <i>were</i> of the sons<MH1121> of Obed-edom<MH5654>; they and their sons<MH1121> and relatives<MH251> <i>were</i> able<MH2428> men<MH376> with strength<MH3581b> for the service<MH5656>, sixty-two<MH8346, 8147> from Obed-edom<MH5654>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Meshelemiah<MH4920> had sons<MH1121> and relatives<MH251>, eighteen<MH8083, 6240> valiant<MH2428> men<MH1121>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Also Hosah<MH2621>, <i>one</i> of the sons<MH1121> of Merari<MH4847> had sons<MH1121>: Shimri<MH8113> the first<MH7218> (although<MH3588> he was not the firstborn<MH1060>, his father<MH1> made<MH7760> him first<MH7218>), <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Hilkiah<MH2518> the second<MH8145>, Tebaliah<MH2882> the third<MH7992>, <i>and</i> Zechariah<MH2148a> the fourth<MH7243>; the sons<MH1121> and relatives<MH251> of Hosah<MH2621> <i>were</i> thirteen<MH7969, 6240> in all<MH3605>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>To these<MH428> divisions<MH4256> of the gatekeepers<MH7778>, to the chief<MH7218> men<MH1397>, <i>were given</i> duties<MH4931> like<MH5980> their relatives<MH251>, to serve<MH8334> in the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>They cast<MH5307> lots<MH1486>, the small<MH6996b> and the great<MH1419> alike, according to their fathers’<MH1> households<MH1004>, for every<MH8179> gate<MH8179>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>The lot<MH1486> to the east<MH4217> fell<MH5307> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>Shelemiah<MH8018>. Then they cast<MH5307> lots<MH1486> <i>for</i> his son<MH1121> Zechariah<MH2148a>, a counselor<MH3289> with insight<MH7922>, and his lot<MH1486> came<MH3318> out<MH3318> to the north<MH6828>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>For Obed-edom<MH5654> <i>it fell</i> to the south<MH5045>, and to his sons<MH1121> went the storehouse<MH624>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>For Shuppim<MH8206> and Hosah<MH2621> <i>it was</i> to the west<MH4628>, by the gate<MH8179> of Shallecheth<MH7996>, on the ascending<MH5927> highway<MH4546>. Guard<MH4929> corresponded<MH5980> to guard<MH4929>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>On the east<MH4217> there were six<MH8337a> Levites<MH3881>, on the north<MH6828> four<MH702> daily<MH3117>, on the south<MH5045> four<MH702> daily<MH3117>, and at the storehouse<MH624> two<MH8147> by two<MH8147>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>At the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>annex<MH6503> on the west<MH4628> <i>there were</i> four<MH702> at the highway<MH4546> and two<MH8147> at the annex<MH6503>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>These<MH428> were the divisions<MH4256> of the gatekeepers<MH7778> of the sons<MH1121> of Korah<MH7145> and of the sons<MH1121> of Merari<MH4847>. <p class="hdg">Keepers of the Treasure</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>The Levites<MH3881>, their relatives<MH251>, were in<MH5921> charge<MH5921> of<MH5921> the treasures<MH214> of the house<MH1004> of God<MH430> and of the treasures<MH214> of the dedicated<MH6944> gifts<MH6944>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>The sons<MH1121> of Ladan<MH3936>, the sons<MH1121> of the Gershonites<MH1649> belonging to Ladan<MH3936>, <i>namely,</i> the Jehielites<MH3172>, <i>were</i> the heads<MH7218> of the fathers’<MH1> <i>households,</i> belonging to Ladan<MH3936> the Gershonite<MH1649>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>The sons<MH1121> of Jehieli<MH3172>, Zetham<MH2241>, and his brother<MH251> Joel<MH3100>, were in<MH5921> charge<MH5921> of<MH5921> the treasures<MH214> of the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>As for the Amramites<MH6020>, the Izharites<MH3325>, the Hebronites<MH2276>, and the Uzzielites<MH5817>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Shebuel<MH7619> the son<MH1121> of Gershom<MH1647>, the son<MH1121> of Moses<MH4872>, was officer<MH5057> over<MH5921> the treasures<MH214>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>His relatives<MH251> by Eliezer<MH461> <i>were</i> Rehabiah<MH7345> his son<MH1121>, Jeshaiah<MH3470b> his son<MH1121>, Joram<MH3141> his son<MH1121>, Zichri<MH2147> his son<MH1121>, and Shelomoth<MH8013> his son<MH1121>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>This<MH1931> Shelomoth<MH8013> and his relatives<MH251> were in<MH5921> charge<MH5921> of<MH5921> all<MH3605> the treasures<MH214> of the dedicated<MH6944> gifts<MH6944> which<MH834> King<MH4428> David<MH1732> and the heads<MH7218> of the fathers’<MH1> <i>households,</i> the commanders<MH8269> of thousands<MH505> and hundreds<MH3967>, and the commanders<MH8269> of the army<MH6635>, had dedicated<MH6942>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>They dedicated<MH6942> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>part of the spoils<MH7998> won in battles<MH4421> to dedicated<MH6942>, and Saul<MH7586> the son<MH1121> of Kish<MH7027>, Abner<MH74> the son<MH1121> of Ner<MH5369>, and Joab<MH3097> the son<MH1121> of Zeruiah<MH6870>, everyone<MH3605> who had dedicated<MH6942> <i>anything, all of this</i> was <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>under the care<MH3027> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>Shelomoth<MH8019a> and his relatives<MH251>. <p class="hdg">Outside Duties</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>As for the Izharites<MH3325>, Chenaniah<MH3663> and his sons<MH1121> were <i>assigned</i> to outside<MH2435> duties<MH4399> for Israel<MH3478>, as officers<MH7860> and judges<MH8199>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/26-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>As for the Hebronites<MH2276>, Hashabiah<MH2811> and his relatives<MH251>, 1,700<MH505, 7651, 3967> capable<MH2428> men<MH1121>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>were responsible<MH5921> for the affairs<MH6486> of Israel<MH3478> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>west<MH4628> of the Jordan<MH3383>, for all<MH3605> the
