Already voted Wired&#8217;s <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20060614164437/http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.01/play.html?pg=1">Best Worst Movie of the Year</a>. </p> <p> <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20060614164437/http://imdb.com/title/tt0417148/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnx0dD0xfGZiPXV8cG49MHxrdz0xfHE9c25ha2VzIG9uIGEgcGxhbmV8ZnQ9MXxteD0yMHxsbT01MDB8Y289MXxodG1sPTF8bm09MQ__;fc=1;ft=22">It&#8217;s real</a>. </p> <p> So I heard <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20060614164437/http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5298003">the story on NPR</a> and mentioned it to my class. They already knew <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20060614164437/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snakes_on_a_plane">about it</a>. Apparently it is an <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20060614164437/http://www.defamer.com/hollywood/samuel-l-jackson/dudesnakes-on-a-plane-117687.php">internet meme</a>. Still in production, mock <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20060614164437/http://www.youtube.com/results?search=%22snakes+on+a+plane%22&amp;search_type=search_videos&amp;search=Search">trailers</a>, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20060614164437/http://wigu.com/overcompensating/2005/09/snakes-on-plane.html">T-shirts</a> and <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20060614164437/http://www.tagworld.com/snakesonaplane">music</a> about the movie are already out there. </p> <p> And what is even more interesting is that the movie producers are paying attention. To keep the movie aligned with the already formed market, the film is being changed from its PG-13 to an R, more violence, more gore, more nudity (huh? how? where? what?) and allowing Samuel L. Then I thought about my students. </p> <p> What am I really teaching them? </p> <p> There are lists of things they should learn. All the important things wouldn&#8217;t be on the syllabus. Those would be an attitude about life, about whether or not the world is a welcoming place, and how much they can participate in it and change it. Maybe that everything can be laughed at if you look at it just so. </p> <p> I&#8217;m working on something right now and I&#8217;m not sure that it&#8217;ll go anywhere, but it is enough that I was in it. There&#8217;s value in that. The boarder started it. Then the kids wanted to go too, and I went. So the pack of us would traipse around the goodly sized block trading leash, flashlight and Gabriel. </p> <p> And here we are again. It is a sweet ritual. </p> <p> So time to get on the warm coat and the leash and puppy and to go out into the sunshine because this morning I can. That means she cannot talk to any of her friends. Only to you. </p> <p> If you want, you can <i>kiss her for death</i>. Conversely, you can also <i>kiss her for life</i>. (This happens after you have tickled or kissed them for death). </p> <p> If the girl takes her kiss back, she can be unmarried and therefore talk to her friends again. </p> <p> I only know this because Gabriel kissed me and married me and told me I couldn&#8217;t talk to my friends any more. So I was married by him...for a few minutes anyway. It may not last, but the last few years seem to have been both warmer and dryer. </p> <p> I do believe in global warming. </p> <p> I bought shares in an <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20060614164437/http://www.gvocsa.org/">organic farm cooperative</a>. That means I go to the farm and work a few shifts (3 four hours blocks), go to the distribution center and give out some of the stuff (twice) and give them some money (seventeen dollars a week) and in return get around two bags of organic produce every week from mid-May to mid-November. I&#8217;ll bring the kids with me to the farm. They can work too. I think it&#8217;ll be fun, and they get to see what it takes to get what we eat. </p> <p> Ah, yes. The weather. </p> <p> So this morning it was hard rain and thunderstorms. The boarder was thinking <i>no bike today</i>. I was thinking <i>the plants need it</i>. Last year was a drought that was relieved by Katrina for a week or two and continued through this winter.
