and behold<MH2009>, there was a man<MH376> whose appearance<MH4758> was like the appearance<MH4758> of bronze<MH5178>, with a thread<MH6616> of flax<MH6593> and a measuring<MH4060a> <a href="#fn">[b]</a>rod<MH7070> in his hand<MH3027>; and he was standing<MH5975> in the gateway<MH8179>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-4.htm">4</a>And the man<MH376> said<MH1696> to me, “Son<MH1121> of man<MH120>, see<MH7200> with your eyes<MH5869>, hear<MH8085> with your ears<MH241>, and <a href="#fn">[c]</a>pay<MH7760> attention<MH3820> to all<MH3605> that I am going to show<MH7200> you; for you have been brought<MH935> here<MH2008> in<MH4616> order<MH4616> to<MH4616> show<MH7200> it to you. Declare<MH5046> to the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478> all<MH3605> that you see<MH7200>.” Measurements Relating to the Temple<a href="/ezekiel/40-5.htm">5</a>And behold<MH2009>, there was a wall<MH2346> on the outside<MH2351> of the <a href="#fn">[d]</a>temple<MH1004> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>, and in the man’s<MH376> hand<MH3027> was a measuring<MH4060a> rod<MH7070> of six<MH8337a> <a href="#fn">[e]</a>cubits<MH520>, <a href="#fn">[f]</a>each of which was a <a href="#fn">[g]</a>cubit<MH520> and a hand<MH2948> width<MH2948>. So he measured<MH4058> the thickness<MH7341> of the <a href="#fn">[h]</a>wall<MH2346>, one<MH259> rod<MH7070>; and the height<MH6967>, one<MH259> rod<MH7070>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-6.htm">6</a>Then he went<MH935> to the gate<MH8179> which<MH834> faced<MH6440, 1870> east<MH6921>, went<MH5927> up<MH5927> its steps<MH4609b>, and measured<MH4058> the threshold<MH5592b> of the gate<MH8179>, one<MH259> rod<MH7070> <a href="#fn">[i]</a>in width<MH7341>; and the other<MH259> threshold<MH5592b> was one<MH259> rod<MH7070> <a href="#fn">[j]</a>in width<MH7341>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-7.htm">7</a>The guardroom<MH8372> was one<MH259> rod<MH7070> long<MH753> and one<MH259> rod<MH7070> wide<MH7341>; and there were five<MH2568> cubits<MH520> between<MH996> the guardrooms<MH8372>. And the threshold<MH5592b> of the gate<MH8179> by the porch<MH197> of the gate<MH8179> <a href="#fn">[k]</a>facing<MH4480> inward<MH1004> was one<MH259> rod<MH7070>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-8.htm">8</a>Then he measured<MH4058> the porch<MH197> of the gate<MH8179> <a href="#fn">[l]</a>facing<MH4480> inward<MH1004>, one<MH259> rod<MH7070>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-9.htm">9</a>And he measured<MH4058> the porch<MH197> of the gate<MH8179>, eight<MH8083> cubits<MH520>; and its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b>, two<MH8147> cubits<MH520>. And the porch<MH197> of the gate<MH8179> was <a href="#fn">[m]</a>faced<MH1004> inward<MH1004>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-10.htm">10</a>The guardrooms<MH8372> of the gate<MH8179> toward<MH1870> the east<MH6921> numbered three<MH7969> on each<MH6311> side<MH6311>; the three<MH7969> of them had the same<MH259> measurement<MH4060a>. The side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b> also had the same<MH259> measurement<MH4060a> on each<MH6311> side<MH6311>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-11.htm">11</a>And he measured<MH4058> the width<MH7341> of the <a href="#fn">[n]</a>gateway<MH6607, 8179>, ten<MH6235> cubits<MH520>, and the length<MH753> of the gate<MH8179>, thirteen<MH7969, 6240> cubits<MH520>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-12.htm">12</a>There was a <a href="#fn">[o]</a>barrier<MH1366> wall one<MH259> cubit<MH520> wide in front<MH6440> of the guardrooms<MH8372> on each<MH6311> side<MH6311>; and the guardrooms<MH8372> were six<MH8337a> cubits<MH520> square on each<MH6311> side<MH6311>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-13.htm">13</a>And he measured<MH4058> the gate<MH8179> from the roof<MH1406> of the one guardroom<MH8372> to the roof<MH1406> of the other, a width<MH7341> of twenty-five<MH6242, 2568> cubits<MH520>, from one door<MH6607> to the door<MH6607> opposite<MH5048>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-14.htm">14</a>He made<MH6213a> the side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b> sixty<MH8346> cubits<MH520> high; the gate<MH8179> extended all<MH5439> around<MH5439> to the side<MH352b> pillar<MH352b> of the courtyard<MH2691a>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-15.htm">15</a>And from the front<MH6440> of the entrance<MH382b> gate<MH8179> to the front<MH6440> of the inner<MH6442> porch<MH197> of the gate<MH8179> was fifty<MH2572> cubits<MH520>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-16.htm">16</a>And there were <a href="#fn">[p]</a>shuttered<MH331> windows<MH2474> looking toward<MH413> the guardrooms<MH8372>, and toward<MH413> their side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b> within<MH6441> the gate<MH8179> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>, and likewise<MH3651> for the porches<MH361>. And there were windows<MH2474> all<MH5439> around<MH5439> inside<MH6441>; and on each side<MH352b> pillar<MH352b> were palm<MH8561> tree<MH8561> decorations<MH8561>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-17.htm">17</a>Then he brought<MH935> me into the outer<MH2435> courtyard<MH2691a>, and behold<MH2009>, there were chambers<MH3957> and a stone<MH7531b> pavement<MH7531b> made<MH6213a> for the courtyard<MH2691a> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>; thirty<MH7970> chambers<MH3957> <a href="#fn">[q]</a>faced<MH413> the pavement<MH7531b>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-18.htm">18</a>And the pavement<MH7531b> (that is, the lower<MH8481> pavement<MH7531b>) was by the <a href="#fn">[r]</a>side<MH3802> of the gates<MH8179>, corresponding<MH5980> to the length<MH753> of the gates<MH8179>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-19.htm">19</a>Then he measured<MH4058> the width<MH7341> from the front<MH6440> of the lower<MH8481> gate<MH8179> to the front<MH6440> of the exterior<MH2351> of the inner<MH6442> courtyard<MH2691a>, a hundred<MH3967> cubits<MH520> on the east<MH6921> and on the north<MH6828>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-20.htm">20</a>And as for the gate<MH8179> of the outer<MH2435> courtyard<MH2691a> which<MH834> faced<MH6440, 1870> north<MH6828>, he measured<MH4058> its length<MH753> and its width<MH7341>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-21.htm">21</a><a href="#fn">[s]</a>It had three<MH7969> guardrooms<MH8372> on each<MH6311> side<MH6311>; and its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b> and its porches<MH361> <a href="#fn">[t]</a>had<MH1961> the same measurement<MH4060a> as the first<MH7223> gate<MH8179>. Its length<MH753> was fifty<MH2572> cubits<MH520>, and the width<MH7341> twenty-five<MH6242, 2568> cubits<MH520>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-22.htm">22</a>Its windows<MH2474>, its porches<MH361>, and its palm<MH8561> tree<MH8561> decorations<MH8561> had the same measurements<MH4060a> as the gate<MH8179> which<MH834> faced<MH6440, 1870> east<MH6921>; and <a href="#fn">[u]</a>it was reached<MH5927> by seven<MH7651> steps<MH4609b>, and its <a href="#fn">[v]</a>porch<MH361> was in front<MH6440> of them. <a href="/ezekiel/40-23.htm">23</a>The inner<MH6442> courtyard<MH2691a> had a gate<MH8179> opposite<MH5048> the gate<MH8179> on the north<MH6828> as well as the gate on the east<MH6921>; and he measured<MH4058> a hundred<MH3967> cubits<MH520> from gate<MH8179> to gate<MH8179>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-24.htm">24</a>Then he led<MH1980> me toward<MH1870> the south<MH1864>, and behold<MH2009>, there was a gate<MH8179> toward<MH1870> the south<MH1864>; and he measured<MH4058> its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b> and its porches<MH361> according to <a href="#fn">[w]</a>those<MH428> same measurements<MH4060a>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-25.htm">25</a><a href="#fn">[x]</a>The gate and its porches<MH361> had windows<MH2474> all<MH5439> around<MH5439> like <a href="#fn">[y]</a>those<MH428> other windows<MH2474>; the length<MH753> was fifty<MH2572> cubits<MH520> and the width<MH7341>, twenty-five<MH6242, 2568> cubits<MH520>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-26.htm">26</a>There were seven<MH7651> steps<MH4609b> going<MH5927> up<MH5927> to it, and its porches<MH361> were in front<MH6440> of them; and it had palm<MH8561> tree<MH8561> decorations<MH8561> on its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b>, one<MH259> on each<MH6311> side<MH6311>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-27.htm">27</a>The inner<MH6442> courtyard<MH2691a> had a gate<MH8179> toward<MH1870> the south<MH1864>; and he measured<MH4058> from gate<MH8179> to gate<MH8179> toward<MH1870> the south<MH1864>, a hundred<MH3967> cubits<MH520>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-28.htm">28</a>Then he brought<MH935> me to the inner<MH6442> courtyard<MH2691a> by the south<MH1864> gate<MH8179>; and he measured<MH4058> the south<MH1864> gate<MH8179> according to those<MH428> same measurements<MH4060a>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-29.htm">29</a>Its guardrooms<MH8372> also, its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b>, and its porches<MH361> were according to those<MH428> same measurements<MH4060a>. And <a href="#fn">[z]</a>the gate and its porches<MH361> had windows<MH2474> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>; it was fifty<MH2572> cubits<MH520> long<MH753> and twenty-five<MH6242, 2568> cubits<MH520> wide<MH7341>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-30.htm">30</a>There were porches<MH361> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>, twenty-five<MH6242, 2568> cubits<MH520> long<MH753> and five<MH2568> cubits<MH520> wide<MH7341>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-31.htm">31</a>And its porches<MH361> were toward<MH413> the outer<MH2435> courtyard<MH2691a>; and palm<MH8561> tree<MH8561> decorations<MH8561> were on its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b>, and its stairway<MH4608> had eight<MH8083> steps<MH4609b>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-32.htm">32</a>Then he brought<MH935> me into the inner<MH6442> courtyard<MH2691a> toward<MH1870> the east<MH6921>. And he measured<MH4058> the gate<MH8179> according to those<MH428> same measurements<MH4060a>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-33.htm">33</a>Its guardrooms<MH8372> also, its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b>, and its porches<MH361> were according to those<MH428> same measurements<MH4060a>. And <a href="#fn">[aa]</a>the gate and its porches<MH361> had windows<MH2474> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>; it was fifty<MH2572> cubits<MH520> long<MH753> and twenty-five<MH6242, 2568> cubits<MH520> wide<MH7341>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-34.htm">34</a>Its porches<MH361> were toward the outer<MH2435> courtyard<MH2691a>; and palm<MH8561> tree<MH8561> decorations<MH8561> were on its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b>, on each<MH6311> side<MH6311>, and its stairway<MH4608> had eight<MH8083> steps<MH4609b>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-35.htm">35</a>Then he brought<MH935> me to the north<MH6828> gate<MH8179>; and he measured<MH4058> it according to those<MH428> same measurements<MH4060a>, <a href="/ezekiel/40-36.htm">36</a>with its guardrooms<MH8372>, its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b>, and its porches<MH361>. And <a href="#fn">[ab]</a>the gate had windows<MH2474> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>; the length<MH753> was fifty<MH2572> cubits<MH520> and the width<MH7341> twenty-five<MH6242, 2568> cubits<MH520>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-37.htm">37</a>And its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b> were toward the outer<MH2435> courtyard<MH2691a>; and palm<MH8561> tree<MH8561> decorations<MH8561> were on its side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b>, on each<MH6311> side<MH6311>, and its stairway<MH4608> had eight<MH8083> steps<MH4609b>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-38.htm">38</a>A chamber<MH3957> with its doorway<MH6607> was by the side<MH352b> pillars<MH352b> at the gates<MH8179>; there<MH8033> they rinse<MH1740> the burnt<MH5930a> offering<MH5930a>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-39.htm">39</a>And in the porch<MH197> of the gate<MH8179> were two<MH8147> tables<MH7979> on each<MH6311> side<MH6311>, on which to slaughter<MH7819> the burnt<MH5930a> offering<MH5930a>, the sin<MH2403b> offering<MH2403b>, and the guilt<MH817> offering<MH817>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-40.htm">40</a>On the outer<MH2351> <a href="#fn">[ac]</a>side<MH3802>, <a href="#fn">[ad]</a>as one went<MH5927> up<MH5927> to the <a href="#fn">[ae]</a>gateway<MH6607, 8179> toward the north<MH6828>, were two<MH8147> tables<MH7979>; and on the other<MH312> <a href="#fn">[af]</a>side<MH3802> of the porch<MH197> of the gate<MH8179> were two<MH8147> tables<MH7979>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-41.htm">41</a>Four<MH702> tables<MH7979> were on each<MH6311> side<MH6311> <a href="#fn">[ag]</a>next<MH3802> to the gate<MH8179>; eight<MH8083> tables<MH7979> on which they slaughter<MH7819> sacrifices. <a href="/ezekiel/40-42.htm">42</a>For the burnt<MH5930a> offering<MH5930a> there were four<MH702> tables<MH7979> of cut<MH1496> stone<MH68>, a cubit<MH520> and a half<MH2677> long<MH753>, a cubit<MH520> and a half<MH2677> wide<MH7341>, and one<MH259> cubit<MH520> high<MH1363>, on which they set<MH5117> the utensils<MH3627> with which<MH834> they slaughter<MH7819> the burnt<MH5930a> offering<MH5930a> and the sacrifice<MH2077>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-43.htm">43</a>And the double<MH8240b> <a href="#fn">[ah]</a>hooks<MH8240b>, <a href="#fn">[ai]</a>one<MH259> hand<MH2948> width<MH2948> in length, were installed<MH3559> <a href="#fn">[aj]</a>in the house<MH1004> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>; and on the tables<MH7979> was the flesh<MH1320> of the offering<MH7133a>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-44.htm">44</a>From the outside<MH2351> to the inner<MH6442> gate<MH8179> were <a href="#fn">[ak]</a>chambers<MH3957> for the singers<MH7891> in the inner<MH6442> courtyard<MH2691a>, one of which<MH834> was at the <a href="#fn">[al]</a>side<MH3802> of the north<MH6828> gate<MH8179>, with <a href="#fn">[am]</a>its front<MH6440> toward<MH1870> the south<MH1864>, and one<MH259> at the <a href="#fn">[an]</a>side<MH3802> of the <a href="#fn">[ao]</a>south gate<MH8179> facing<MH6440, 1870> north<MH6828>. <a href="/ezekiel/40-45.htm">45</a>Then he said<MH1696> to me, “This<MH2090> is the chamber<MH3957> which<MH834> faces<MH6440, 1870> south<MH1864>, intended for the priests<MH3548> who <a href="#fn">[ap]</a>are<MH8104> responsible<MH8104, 4931> for the <a href="#fn">[aq]</a>temple<MH1004>; <a href="/ezekiel/40-46.htm">46</a>but the chamber<MH3957> which<MH834> faces<MH6440, 1870> north<MH6828> is for the priests<MH3548> who <a href="#fn">[ar]</a>are<MH8104> responsible<MH8104, 4931> for the altar<MH4196>.
