examination of bone structures and teeth. On the other hand visualization of the soft tissues is still limited. The goal of our study was to elaborate methodology for soft tissue samples imaging in micro-CT. Methodology: We used organs of rats and mice. We either did a preparation of the organs and fixation in contrast solution or we did cannulation of blood vessels and their injection for imaging of the vascular system. First, we scanned native specimens, then we created corrosive specimens by resins. In the next step, we injected vascular system either by Aurovist contrast agent or by Exitron. In the next step, we focused on soft tissues contrast increase. We scanned samples fixated in Lugol solution, samples fixated in pure ethanol and in formaldehyde solution. All used methods were afterwards compared. Results: Native specimens did not provide sufficient contrast of the tissues in any of organs. Corrosive samples of the blood stream provided great contrast and details; on the other hand, it was necessary to destroy the organ. Further examined possibility was injection of the AuroVist contrast that leads to the great bloodstream contrast. Injection of Exitron contrast agent comparing to Aurovist did not provide such a great contrast. The soft tissues (kidney, heart, lungs, brain, and liver) were best visualized after fixation in ethanol. This type of fixation showed best results in all studied tissues. Lugol solution had great results in muscle tissue. Fixation by formaldehyde solution showed similar quality of contrast in the tissues like ethanol. Conclusion: Before imaging, we need to, first, determinate which structures of the soft tissues we want to visualize. In the case of the bloodstream, the best was AuroVist and corrosive specimens. Muscle tissue is best visualized by Lugol solution. In the case of the organs containing cavities, like kidneys or brain, the best way was ethanol fixation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=experimental%20imaging" title="experimental imaging">experimental imaging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fixation" title=" fixation"> fixation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=micro-CT" title=" micro-CT"> micro-CT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soft%20tissues" title=" soft tissues"> soft tissues</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51423/an-inquiry-on-imaging-of-soft-tissues-in-micro-computed-tomography" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51423.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">325</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5413</span> Application of Synthetic Monomers Grafted Xanthan Gum for Rhodamine B Removal in Aqueous Solution</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=T.%20Moremedi">T. As a result, water systems are affected by modern methods upon use due to secondary contamination. The application of novel adsorbents derived from natural polymer holds a great promise in addressing challenges in water treatment. In this study, the UV irradiation technique was used to prepare acrylamide (AAm) monomer, and acrylic acid (AA) monomer grafted xanthan gum (XG) copolymer. Furthermore, the factors affecting rhodamine B (RhB) adsorption from aqueous media, such as pH, dosage, concentration, and time were also investigated. The FTIR results confirmed the formation of graft copolymer by the strong vibrational bands at 1709 cm-1 and 1612 cm-1 for AA and AAm, respectively. Additionally, more irregular, porous and wrinkled surface observed from SEM of XG-g-AAm/AA indicated copolymerization interaction of monomers. The optimum conditions for removing RhB dye with a maximum adsorption capacity of 313 mg/g at 25 0C from aqueous solution were pH approximately 5, initial dye concentration = 200 ppm, adsorbent dose = 30 mg. Also, the detailed investigation of the isothermal and adsorption kinetics of RhB from aqueous solution showed that the adsorption of the dye followed a Freundlich model (R2 = 0.96333) and pseudo-second-order kinetics. The results further indicated that this absorbent based on XG had the universality to remove dye through the mechanism of chemical adsorption. The outstanding adsorption potential of the grafted copolymer could be used to remove cationic dyes from aqueous solution as a low-cost product. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=xanthan%20gum" title="xanthan gum">xanthan gum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adsorbents" title=" adsorbents"> adsorbents</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rhodamine%20B" title=" rhodamine B"> rhodamine B</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Freundlich" title=" Freundlich"> Freundlich</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116908/application-of-synthetic-monomers-grafted-xanthan-gum-for-rhodamine-b-removal-in-aqueous-solution" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116908.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">127</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5412</span> Application of Acer velutinum for Absorbing Heavy Metal, Mercury, from the Environment</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Armin%20Hashemi">Seyed Armin Hashemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Somayeh%20Rahimzadeh"> Somayeh Rahimzadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One-year seedlings of Acer velutinum were provided from plantations and the solution of Mercuric chloride was developed in 20,40 and 60 mg/l concentrations, then this solution was added to the soil and the Acer velutinum were placed in a vase. For this purpose, coupled energy conservation and mass fluid continuity equations governing hydrothermal behavior of unsaturated soil media are presented in terms of temperature and volumetric moisture content. In consideration of the soil environment as an infinite half-space and by linearization of the governing equations, Laplace–Fourier transformation is conducted to convert differential equations with partial derivatives (PDEs) to ordinary differential equations (ODEs). The obtained ODEs are solved, and the inverse transformations are calculated to determine the solution to the system of equations. Results indicate that heat variation induces moisture transport in both horizontal and vertical directions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=analytical%20solution" title="analytical solution">analytical solution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%20conduction" title=" heat conduction"> heat conduction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrothermal%20analysis" title=" hydrothermal analysis"> hydrothermal analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laplace%E2%80%93fourier%20transformation" title=" laplace–fourier transformation"> laplace–fourier transformation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-dimensional" title=" two-dimensional"> two-dimensional</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112397/effects-of-daily-temperature-changes-on-transient-heat-and-moisture-transport-in-unsaturated-soils" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112397.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">216</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5408</span> Thermalytix: An Advanced Artificial Intelligence Based Solution for Non-Contact Breast Screening</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Sudhakar">S. Survival rates in developing countries like India are very low due to accessibility and affordability issues of screening tests such as Mammography. In addition, Mammography is not much effective in younger women with dense breasts. This leaves a gap in current screening methods. Thermalytix is a new technique for detecting breast abnormality in a non-contact, non-invasive way. It is an AI-enabled computer-aided diagnosis solution that automates interpretation of high resolution thermal images and identifies potential malignant lesions. The solution is low cost, easy to use, portable and is effective in all age groups. This paper presents the results of a retrospective comparative analysis of Thermalytix over Mammography and Clinical Breast Examination for breast cancer screening. Thermalytix was found to have better sensitivity than both the tests, with good specificity as well. In addition, Thermalytix identified all malignant patients without palpable lumps. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=breast%20cancer%20screening" title="breast cancer screening">breast cancer screening</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=radiology" title=" radiology"> radiology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermalytix" title=" thermalytix"> thermalytix</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20intelligence" title=" artificial intelligence"> artificial intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermography" title=" thermography"> thermography</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87848/thermalytix-an-advanced-artificial-intelligence-based-solution-for-non-contact-breast-screening" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87848.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">291</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5407</span> A Unified Webcam Proctoring Solution on Edge</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saw%20Thiha">Saw Thiha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jay%20Rajasekera"> Jay Rajasekera</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A boom in video conferencing generated millions of hours of video data daily to be analyzed. However, such enormous data pose certain scalability issues to be analyzed efficiently, let alone do it in real-time, as online conferences can involve hundreds of people and can last for hours. This paper proposes an efficient online proctoring solution that can analyze the online conferences real-time on edge devices such as Android, iOS, and desktops. Since the computation can be done upfront on the devices where online conferences take place, it can scale well without requiring intensive resources such as GPU servers and complex cloud infrastructure. According to the linear models, face orientation does indeed impact the perceived eye openness. Also, the proposed z score facial landmark standardization was proven to be functional in detecting face orientation and contributed to classifying eye blinks with single eyelid distance computation while achieving a better f1 score and accuracy than the Eye Aspect Ratio (EAR) threshold method. Last but not least, the authors implemented the solution natively in the MediaPipe framework and open-sourced it along with the reproducible experimental results on GitHub. The solution provides face orientation, eye blink, facial activity, and translation detections out of the box and is highly customizable and extensible. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=android" title="android">android</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=desktop" title=" desktop"> desktop</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=edge%20computing" title=" edge computing"> edge computing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blink" title=" blink"> blink</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=face%20orientation" title=" face orientation"> face orientation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=facial%20activity%20and%20translation" title=" facial activity and translation"> facial activity and translation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MediaPipe" title=" MediaPipe"> MediaPipe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=open%20source" title=" open source"> open source</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=real-time" title=" real-time"> real-time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=video%20conference" title=" video conference"> video conference</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=web" title=" web"> web</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=iOS" title=" iOS"> iOS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Z%20score%20facial%20landmark%20standardization" title=" Z score facial landmark standardization"> Z score facial landmark standardization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155052/a-unified-webcam-proctoring-solution-on-edge" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155052.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">97</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5406</span> APPLE: Providing Absolute and Proportional Throughput Guarantees in Wireless LANs</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhijie%20Ma">Zhijie Ma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qinglin%20Zhao"> Qinglin Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hongning%20Dai"> Hongning Dai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huan%20Zhang"> Huan Zhang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper proposes an APPLE scheme that aims at providing absolute and proportional throughput guarantees, and maximizing system throughput simultaneously for wireless LANs with homogeneous and heterogenous traffic. Mahadeshwar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Concept introduction: This paper talks about how an innovative cloud based analytics enabled solution that could address a major industry challenge that is approaching all of us globally faster than what one would think. The world of supply chain for drugs and devices is changing today at a rapid speed. In the US, the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) is a new law for Tracing, Verification and Serialization phasing in starting Jan 1, 2015 for manufacturers, repackagers, wholesalers and pharmacies / clinics. Similarly we are seeing pressures building up in Europe, China and many countries that would require an absolute traceability of every drug and device end to end. Companies (both manufacturers and distributors) can use this opportunity not only to be compliant but to differentiate themselves over competition. And moreover a country such as UAE can be the leader in coming up with a global solution that brings innovation in this industry. Problem definition and timing: The problem of counterfeit drug market, recognized by FDA, causes billions of dollars loss every year. Even in UAE, the concerns over prevalence of counterfeit drugs, which enter through ports such as Dubai remains a big concern, as per UAE pharma and healthcare report, Q1 2015. Distribution of drugs and devices involves multiple processes and systems that do not talk to each other. Consumer confidence is at risk due to this lack of traceability and any leading provider is at risk of losing its reputation. Globally there is an increasing pressure by government and regulatory bodies to trace serial numbers and lot numbers of every drug and medical devices throughout a supply chain. Though many of large corporations use some form of ERP (enterprise resource planning) software, it is far from having a capability to trace a lot and serial number beyond the enterprise and making this information easily available real time. Solution: The solution here talks about a service provider that allows all subscribers to take advantage of this service. The solution allows a service provider regardless of its physical location, to host this cloud based traceability and analytics solution of millions of distribution transactions that capture lots of each drug and device. The solution platform will capture a movement of every medical device and drug end to end from its manufacturer to a hospital or a doctor through a series of distributor or retail network. The platform also provides advanced analytics solution to do some intelligent reporting online. Why Dubai? Opportunity exists with huge investment done in Dubai healthcare city also with using technology and infrastructure to attract more FDI to provide such a service. UAE and countries similar will be facing this pressure from regulators globally in near future. But more interestingly, Dubai can attract such innovators/companies to run and host such a cloud based solution and become a hub of such traceability globally. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloud" title="cloud">cloud</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pharmaceutical" title=" pharmaceutical"> pharmaceutical</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=supply%20chain" title=" supply chain"> supply chain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tracking" title=" tracking "> tracking </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25408/cloud-based-supply-chain-traceability" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25408.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">526</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5404</span> An Investigation on the Removal of Synthetic Dyes from Aqueous Solution by a Functional Polymer</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Kara">Ali Kara</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asim%20Olgun"> Asim Olgun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sevgi%20Sozugecer"> Sevgi Sozugecer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahin%20Ozel"> Sahin Ozel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kubra%20Nur%20Yildiz"> Kubra Nur Yildiz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=P.%20Sevin%C3%A7"> P. Some the synthetic dyes are highly toxic and/or carcinogenic, and their biodegradation can produce even more toxic aromatic amines. The adsorption procedure is one of the most effective means of removing synthetic dye pollutants, and has been described in a number of previous studies by using the functional polymers. In this study, we investigated the removal of synthetic dyes from aqueous solution by using a functional polymer as an adsorbent material. The effect of initial solution concentration, pH, and contact time on the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent were studied in details. The results showed that functional polymer has a potential to be used as cost-effective and efficient adsorbent for the treatment of aqueous solutions from textile industries. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=functional%20polymers" title="functional polymers">functional polymers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=synhetic%20dyes" title=" synhetic dyes"> synhetic dyes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adsorption" title=" adsorption"> adsorption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physicochemical%20parameters" title=" physicochemical parameters"> physicochemical parameters</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94325/an-investigation-on-the-removal-of-synthetic-dyes-from-aqueous-solution-by-a-functional-polymer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94325.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">182</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5403</span> Mathematical and Numerical Analysis of a Nonlinear Cross Diffusion System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20Al%20Salman">Hassan Al Salman</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We consider a nonlinear parabolic cross diffusion model arising in applied mathematics. In addition to inadequate infrastructure and poor planning, the country is experiencing high rates of water wastage due to pipe leaks. This study outlines the level of water wastage and develops a smart solution to efficiently manage and reduce the effects of pipe leaks, while monitoring the situation before and after fixing the pipe leaks. To understand the issue in depth, a literature review of journal papers and government reports was conducted. A questionnaire was designed and distributed to the general public. Additionally, the municipality office was contacted from a managerial perspective. The analysis from the study indicated that the majority of the citizens are aware of the water crisis and are willing to participate positively to decrease the level of water wasted. Furthermore, the response from the municipality acknowledged that more practical solutions are needed to reduce water wastage, and resources to attend to pipe leaks swiftly. Therefore, this paper proposes a specific solution for municipalities, local plumbers and citizens to minimize the effects of pipe leaks. The solution provides web and mobile application platforms to report and manage leaks swiftly. The solution is beneficial to the country in achieving water security and would promote a culture of responsibility toward water usage. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20distribution%20networks" title="urban distribution networks">urban distribution networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=leak%20management" title=" leak management"> leak management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20application" title=" mobile application"> mobile application</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=responsible%20citizens" title=" responsible citizens"> responsible citizens</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20crisis" title=" water crisis"> water crisis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20security" title=" water security "> water security </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105927/managing-city-pipe-leaks-through-community-participation-using-a-web-and-mobile-application-in-south-africa" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/105927.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">145</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5400</span> Flow and Heat Transfer of a Nanofluid over a Shrinking Sheet</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=N.%20Bachok">N. In this specific methodology, the displacement field is computed as a sum of finite functions with unknown coefficients. These aforementioned functions satisfy exactly both the homogeneous and inhomogeneous boundary conditions in the proposed media. It is worth mentioning that the unknown coefficients are determined by implementing the principle of minimum potential energy. The numerical integration is implemented by employing the Generalized Gaussian Quadrature solution. Furthermore, with the aid of the calculated unknown coefficients, the displacement field, as well as the other parameters of the elastic field, are obtainable as well. Besides other important material features, the corrosion parameters and corrosion products are responsible for limiting the biological and chemical bio compatibility of metallic materials that produce undesirable reactions in implant-adjacent and/or more distant tissues. Electrochemical corrosion behaviors of novel beta titanium alloys, Ti-4.7Mo-4.5Fe, Ti-3Mo-0.5Fe, and Ti-2Mo-0.5Fe were characterized in naturally aerated Ringer’s solution at room temperature compared with common used biomedical titanium alloy, Ti-6Al-4V. The corrosion resistance of titanium alloys were investigated through open circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization measurements and optical microscope (OM). A high corrosion resistance was obtained for all alloys due to the stable passive film formed on their surfaces. The new present alloys are promising metallic biomaterials for the future, owing to their very low elastic modulus and good corrosion resistance capabilities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=titanium%20alloys" title="titanium alloys">titanium alloys</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corrosion%20resistance" title=" corrosion resistance"> corrosion resistance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ringer%E2%80%99s%20solution" title=" Ringer’s solution"> Ringer’s solution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrochemical%20corrosion" title=" electrochemical corrosion"> electrochemical corrosion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19503/electrochemical-corrosion-behavior-of-new-developed-titanium-alloys-in-ringers-solution" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19503.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">658</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5396</span> Smart Help at the Workplace for Persons with Disabilities (SHW-PWD)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghassan%20Kbar">Ghassan Kbar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shady%20Aly"> Shady Aly</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ibrahim%20Alsharawy"> Ibrahim Alsharawy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akshay%20Bhatia"> Akshay Bhatia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nur%20Alhasan"> Nur Alhasan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ronaldo%20Enriquez"> Ronaldo Enriquez</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Smart Help for persons with disability (PWD) is a part of the project SMARTDISABLE which aims to develop relevant solution for PWD that target to provide an adequate workplace environment for them. The mathematical model capturing the time dependent flow of viscous reactive fluid is solved using implicit finite difference method while the corresponding steady state model is solved using regular perturbation technique. Results of analytical and numerical solutions are reported for various parametric conditions to illustrate special features of the solutions. The coefficient of skin friction and rate of heat transfer are obtained and illustrated graphically. The numerical solution is shown to be in excellent agreement with the closed form analytical solution. It is interesting to note that time required to reach steady state is higher in case of injection in comparison to suction. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=porous%20pipe" title="porous pipe">porous pipe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reactive%20viscous%20fluid" title=" reactive viscous fluid"> reactive viscous fluid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transient%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20natural-convective%20flow" title=" transient natural-convective flow"> transient natural-convective flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=analytical%20solution" title=" analytical solution"> analytical solution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14191/transientsteady-natural-convective-flow-of-reactive-viscous-fluid-in-vertical-porous-pipe" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14191.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">297</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5394</span> Buoyancy Effects in Pressure Retarded Osmosis with Extremely High Draw Solution Concentration</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ivonne%20Tshuma">Ivonne Tshuma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ralf%20Cord-Ruwisch"> Ralf Cord-Ruwisch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wendell%20Ela"> Wendell Ela</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Water crisis is a world-wide problem because of population growth and climate change. Hence, desalination is a solution to water scarcity, which threatens the world. Reverse osmosis (RO) is the most used technique for desalination; unfortunately, this process, usually requires high-pressure requirement hence requires a lot of energy about 3 – 5.5 KWhr/m³ of electrical energy. The pressure requirements of RO can be alleviated by the use of PRO (pressure retarded osmosis) to drive the RO process. This paper proposes a process of utilizing the energy directly from PRO to drive an RO process. The paper mostly analyses the PRO process parameters such as cross-flow velocity, density, and buoyancy and how these have an effect on PRO hence ultimately the RO process. The experimental study of the PRO with various feed solution concentrations and cross-flow velocities at fixed applied pressure with different orientations of the PRO cell was performed. The study revealed that without cross-flow velocity, buoyancy effects were observed but not with cross-flow velocity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cross-flow%20velocity" title="cross-flow velocity">cross-flow velocity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pressure%20retarded%20osmosis" title=" pressure retarded osmosis"> pressure retarded osmosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=density" title=" density"> density</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=buoyancy" title=" buoyancy"> buoyancy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/115925/buoyancy-effects-in-pressure-retarded-osmosis-with-extremely-high-draw-solution-concentration" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/115925.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5393</span> Cryptocurrency-Based Mobile Payments with Near-Field Communication-Enabled Devices</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marko%20Niinimaki">Marko Niinimaki</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cryptocurrencies are getting increasingly popular, but very few of them can be conveniently used in daily mobile phone purchases. Using the system, users are able to purchase physical items with an NFC tag that contains an e-commerce URL. The payment is done simply by touching the tag with a mobile device and accepting the payment. Our method is constructive: we describe the design and technologies used in the implementation and evaluate the security and performance of the solution. The coating of TiO₂ on the surface of glass fibers was carried out at 120℃ and for 15 min ~ 24 h with aqueous peroxotitanium acid solution using a hydrothermal synthesis autoclave reactor. The morphology TiO₂ coating layer was largely dependent on the reaction time, as shown in the results of scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Increasing the reaction times, the TiO₂ layer on the glass expanded uniformly. Moreover, the surface fluorination of glass fibers can promote the formation of the TiO₂ layer on the surface. The photocatalytic activity of prepared titania-coated glass fibrous filters was investigated by both the degradation test of methylene blue (MB) and the decomposition test of gaseous acetaldehyde. The MB decomposition ratio with fluorinated samples was about 95% for 30 min of UV irradiation time, and it was much higher than that (70%) with the untreated thing. The decomposition ratio (50%) of gaseous acetaldehyde with fluorinated samples was also higher than that (30%) with the untreated thing. Consequently, photocatalytic activity is enhanced by surface fluorination. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aqueous%20peroxotitanium%20acid%20solution" title="aqueous peroxotitanium acid solution">aqueous peroxotitanium acid solution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=titania-coated%20glass%20fibrous%20filters" title=" titania-coated glass fibrous filters"> titania-coated glass fibrous filters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photocatalytic%20activity" title=" photocatalytic activity"> photocatalytic activity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surface%20fluorination" title=" surface fluorination"> surface fluorination</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152868/preparation-and-characterization-of-titania-coated-glass-fibrous-filters-using-aqueous-peroxotitanium-acid-solution" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152868.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">84</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5391</span> Characteristics of Oil-In-Water Emulsion Stabilized with Pregelatinized Waxy Rice Starch</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20Yulianingsih">R. The yield stress and consistency index value of PWR solution increased with an increase in starch concentration. The pseudoplasticity of PWR 65 solution increased and that for both PWR 75 and 85 solution decreased with an increase in starch concentration. Small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) profiles analyzed by Kratky Plot indicated that PWR 65 is natively unfolded particles while PWR 75 and 85 are the globular particles. The characteristics of emulsions stabilized with PWR were influenced by the temperature of gelatinization process and starch concentration. Elevated concentration of starch decreased the value of yield stress and increased the consistency index. This research will be performed on Columns subjected to compressive axial load, therefore the non-linearity of the geometry is also considered. If the considered strut is perfect, the governing differential equation contains a branching point in the solution path. Investigation into the Elastica is a part of generalizing the developed method. It presents the ability of the Modified Newmark Method in treating non-linear differential equations Derived from elastic strut stability problems. These include not only an approximate polynomial solution for the Elastica problems, but can also recognize the branching point and the stable solution. However, this investigation deals with the post-buckling response of elastic and pin ended columns subjected to central or equally eccentric axial loads. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=columns" title="columns">columns</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20modeling" title=" structural modeling"> structural modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structures%20%26%20structural%20stability" title=" structures &amp; structural stability"> structures &amp; structural stability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=loads" title=" loads"> loads</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42637/investigating-elastica-and-post-buckling-behavior-columns-using-the-modified-newmark-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42637.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">312</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5388</span> All Solution-Processed Organic Light Emitting Diode with Low Melting Point Alloy Encapsulation </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Geon%20Bae">Geon Bae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheol%20Hee%20Moon"> Cheol Hee Moon</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) are being developed rapidly as next-generation displays due to their self-luminous and flexible characteristics. OLEDs are highly susceptible to moisture and oxygen due to their structural properties. Thus, requiring a high level of encapsulation technology. Recently, encapsulation technology such as Thin Film Encapsulation (TFE) has been developed for OLED, but it is not perfect to prevent moisture permeation on the side. In this study, we propose OLED encapsulation method using Low melting Point Alloy (LMPA). The LMPA line was designed in square box shape on the outer edge of the device and was formed by screen printing method. To determine if LMPA has an effect on OLED, we fabricated solution processed OLEDs with a square-shaped LMPA line and evaluate the I-V-L characteristics of the OLEDs. Also, the resistance characteristic of the LMPA line was observed by repeatedly bending the LMPA line. It is expected that LMPA encapsulation will have a great advantage in shortening the process time and cost reduction. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OLED" title="OLED">OLED</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=encapsulation" title=" encapsulation"> encapsulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LMPA" title=" LMPA"> LMPA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solution%20process" title=" solution process"> solution process</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92197/all-solution-processed-organic-light-emitting-diode-with-low-melting-point-alloy-encapsulation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92197.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">246</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5387</span> Determination of Verapamil Hydrochloride in the Tablet and Injection Solution by the Verapamil-Sensitive Electrode and Possibilities of Application in Pharmaceutical Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Faisal%20A.%20Salih">Faisal A. In all cases, good reproducibility and excellent correspondence with the declared quantities were observed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=verapamil" title="verapamil">verapamil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=potentiometry" title=" potentiometry"> potentiometry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ion-selective%20electrode" title=" ion-selective electrode"> ion-selective electrode</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lipophilic%20physiologically%20active%20amines" title=" lipophilic physiologically active amines"> lipophilic physiologically active amines</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154452/determination-of-verapamil-hydrochloride-in-the-tablet-and-injection-solution-by-the-verapamil-sensitive-electrode-and-possibilities-of-application-in-pharmaceutical-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154452.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">86</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5386</span> The Improved Laplace Homotopy Perturbation Method for Solving Non-integrable PDEs</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noufe%20H.%20Aljahdaly">Noufe H. The method has been used for solving several problems in science. It requires the initial condition, so it solves the initial value problem. In physics, when some important terms are taken in account, we may obtain non-integrable partial differential equations that do not have analytical integrals. This type of PDEs do not have exact solution, therefore, we need to compute the solution without initial condition. In this work, we improved the LHPM to be able to solve non-integrable problem, especially the damped PDEs, which are the PDEs that include a damping term which makes the PDEs non-integrable. We improved the LHPM by setting a perturbation parameter and an embedding parameter as the damping parameter and using the initial condition for damped PDE as the initial condition for non-damped PDE. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-integrable%20PDEs" title="non-integrable PDEs">non-integrable PDEs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modified%20Kawahara%20equation%3B" title=" modified Kawahara equation;"> modified Kawahara equation;</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laplace%20homotopy%20perturbation%20method" title=" laplace homotopy perturbation method"> laplace homotopy perturbation method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=damping%20term" title=" damping term"> damping term</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172304/the-improved-laplace-homotopy-perturbation-method-for-solving-non-integrable-pdes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172304.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">100</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5385</span> Robust Optimisation Model and Simulation-Particle Swarm Optimisation Approach for Vehicle Routing Problem with Stochastic Demands</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohanad%20Al-Behadili">Mohanad Al-Behadili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Djamila%20Ouelhadj"> Djamila Ouelhadj</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, a specific type of vehicle routing problem under stochastic demand (SVRP) is considered. This problem is of great importance because it models for many of the real world vehicle routing applications. This paper used a robust optimisation model to solve the problem along with the novel Simulation-Particle Swarm Optimisation (Sim-PSO) approach. The proposed Sim-PSO approach is based on the hybridization of the Monte Carlo simulation technique with the PSO algorithm. A comparative study between the proposed model and the Sim-PSO approach against other solution methods in the literature has been given in this paper. This comparison including the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to show the ability of the model and solution method in solving the complicated SVRP. The experimental results show that the proposed model and Sim-PSO approach has a significant impact on the obtained solution by providing better quality solutions comparing with well-known algorithms in the literature. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stochastic%20vehicle%20routing%20problem" title="stochastic vehicle
