These data are also of interest to NOAA and your snow data will be included in the MADIS data set and distributed to user organizations including the NWS. Before signing-up to do this public service, read <A href="https://madis.ncep.noaa.gov/snow_project.shtml"><B>snow project description</B></A> and <A href="https://madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov/snow_measurements.html"><B>snow measurement instructions</B></A> to be sure you understand it. Also, consider joining the <A href="https://www.freelists.org/webpage/cwop-snow"><B>CWOP-snow</B></A> discussion list.</FONT></P><BR> <P><FONT size=5>1. Instructions for CWOP Members</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=3>If you are already a CWOP member, you can sign-up to send in snow data by filling out the form below. Put your NWS ID in the first line. If you can't remember your ID, check <A href="http://www.wxqa.com/members.txt"><B>here</B></A> or <A href="http://www.wxqa.com/inactive_members.txt"><B>here</B></A> and search for your name.</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=3>Put your postal zip code in the second line. If you are a registered member of CWOP, enter "reg" into the latitude and longitude lines to tell us that we already have your latitude, longitude and elevation in the CWOP database. Registered CWOP members are listed <A href="http://www.wxqa.com/APRSWXNETStation.txt"><B>here</B></A>. If you are not in this list, enter your latitude and longitude, which you can determine (for USA locations) by following the procedure in the paragraph below the form. We need the latitude and longitude in decimal degrees with five places to the right of the decimal point.</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=3>Select your standard (winter) time zone and if "other", enter the time zone name in the comment field. Then select "Yes" if you change to Daylight time in the summer or "No" if you do not. Select "Yes" if you will be sending both electronic weather station data and manual snow data or "No" if you will only be sending manual data. Your e-mail address is optional, but will let us ask you if we have a question. If you can see your location in the displayed image, double click on that location or decrease the scale for a higher resolution image. When you double click, your Latitude and Longitude will be displayed in the entry box. If you can't see your location, you can move the image by clicking on the appropriate direction at the upper left to where you can double click on your location to display the latitude and longitude. Remember, North Latitude is positive, South Latitude is negative, east Longitude is positive, and west Longitude is negative.</FONT></P><BR> <P><FONT size=5>2. Instructions for Non-members of CWOP</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=3>The Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP) is described <A href="http://www.wxqa.com"<B>here</B></A>. To become a CWOP member and obtain a CW designation number fill out this <A href="http://www.findu.com/citizenweather/cw_form.html">CW form</A>. Within a few minutes, you will receive an e-mail reply with your assigned CW Designator, similar to "CW9999" and the 5 character NWS ID is obtained by dropping the "W". Then follow the instructions for non-registered CWOP members in item # 1 above. If you don't know your elevation, the procedure in the paragraph above will allow you to get elevation in feet from the topographic map along with latitude and longitude. Multiply elevation in feet by 0.3048 to change to elevation in meters.</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=5>3. Instructions for members of CoCoRaHS</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=3>If you are currently contributing snow data to the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network, <A href="https://www.cocorahs.org/"<B>CoCoRaHS</B></A>, indicate so in the comment line. This will allow us to eliminate duplicate data in the combined snow data set.</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=5>4. Where to send and where to see your data</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=3>To enter CWOP snow data, use the <A href="https://madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov/snow_data_login.html"<B>snow data entry form</B></A>.
