And the prophets<MH5030>, do they live<MH2421a> forever<MH5769>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>But did My words<MH1697> and My statutes<MH2706>, which<MH834> I commanded<MH6680> My servants<MH5650> the prophets<MH5030>, not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>overtake<MH5381> your fathers<MH1>? Then they repented<MH7725> and said<MH559>, ‘Just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> planned<MH2161> to do<MH6213a> to us in accordance with our ways<MH1870> and our deeds<MH4611>, so<MH3651> He has dealt<MH6213a> with us.’”’” <p class="hdg">Patrol of the Earth</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>On the twenty-fourth<MH6242, 702> day<MH3117> of the eleventh<MH6249, 6240> month<MH2320>, that is, the month<MH2320> Shebat<MH7627>, in the second<MH8147> year<MH8141> of Darius<MH1867>, the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> came<MH1961> to Zechariah<MH2148a> the prophet<MH5030>, the son<MH1121> of Berechiah<MH1296>, the son<MH1121> of Iddo<MH5714>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>as follows<MH559>: <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>I saw<MH7200> at night<MH3915>, and behold<MH2009>, a man<MH376> was riding<MH7392> on a red<MH122> horse<MH5483b>, and he was standing<MH5975> among<MH996> the myrtle<MH1918> trees<MH1918> which<MH834> were in the ravine<MH4699>, with red<MH122>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>sorrel<MH8320>, and white<MH3836> horses<MH5483b> behind<MH310> him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Then I said<MH559>, “What<MH4100> are these<MH428>, my lord<MH113>?” And the angel<MH4397> who was speaking<MH1696> with me said<MH559> to me, “I will show<MH7200> you what<MH4100> these<MH428> are.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And the man<MH376> who was standing<MH5975> among<MH996> the myrtle<MH1918> trees<MH1918> responded<MH6030a> and said<MH559>, “These<MH428> are the ones whom<MH834> the LORD<MH3068> has sent<MH7971> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>patrol<MH1980> the earth<MH776>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>So they responded<MH6030a> to the angel<MH4397> of the LORD<MH3068> who was standing<MH5975> among<MH996> the myrtle<MH1918> trees<MH1918> and said<MH559>, “We have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>patrolled<MH1980> the earth<MH776>, and behold<MH2009>, all<MH3605> the earth<MH776> is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>still<MH3427> and quiet<MH8252>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then the angel<MH4397> of the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559>, “LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635>, how<MH4970> long<MH5704, 4970> will You take<MH7355> no<MH3808> pity<MH7355> on<MH7355> Jerusalem<MH3389> and the cities<MH5892b> of Judah<MH3063>, with which<MH834> You have been<MH2194> indignant<MH2194> for these<MH2088> seventy<MH7657> years<MH8141>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And the LORD<MH3068> responded<MH6030a> to the angel<MH4397> who was speaking<MH1696> with me with <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>gracious<MH2896a> words<MH1697>, comforting<MH5150> words<MH1697>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>So the angel<MH4397> who was speaking<MH1696> with me said<MH559> to me, “Proclaim<MH7121>, saying<MH559>, ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> says<MH559>: “I am<MH7065> exceedingly<MH1419> jealous<MH7065> for Jerusalem<MH3389> and Zion<MH6726>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>But I am<MH7107> very<MH1419, 7110a> angry<MH7107> with the nations<MH1471> who are carefree<MH7600>; for while I was<MH7107> <i>only</i> a little<MH4592> angry<MH7107>, they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>furthered<MH5826> the disaster<MH7463a>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Therefore<MH3651> the LORD<MH3068> says<MH559> this<MH3541>: “I will return<MH7725> to Jerusalem<MH3389> with compassion<MH7356>; My house<MH1004> will be built<MH1129> in it,” declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635>, “and a measuring<MH6957b> line<MH6957b> will be stretched<MH5186> over<MH5921> Jerusalem<MH3389>.”’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Again<MH5750>, proclaim<MH7121>, saying<MH559>, ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> says<MH559>: “My cities<MH5892b> will again<MH5750> overflow<MH6327b> with prosperity<MH2896b>, and the LORD<MH3068> will again<MH5750> comfort<MH5162> Zion<MH6726> and again<MH5750> choose<MH977> Jerusalem<MH3389>.”’” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>Then I raised<MH5375> my eyes<MH5869> and looked<MH7200>, and behold<MH2009>, <i>there were</i> four<MH702> horns<MH7161>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>So I said<MH559> to the angel<MH4397> who was speaking<MH1696> with me, “What<MH4100> are these<MH428>?” And he said<MH559> to me, “These<MH428> are the horns<MH7161> that have scattered<MH2219> Judah<MH3063>, Israel<MH3478>, and Jerusalem<MH3389>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> showed<MH7200> me four<MH702> craftsmen<MH2796>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/zechariah/1-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And I said<MH559>, “What<MH4100> are these<MH428> coming<MH935> to do<MH6213a>?” And he said<MH559>, “These<MH428> are the horns<MH7161> that<MH834> have scattered<MH2219> Judah<MH3063> so<MH6310> that<MH6310> no<MH3808> one<MH376> lifts<MH5375> up<MH5375> his head<MH7218>;
