<t><p class="indent1">Live<MH7931> in<MH7931> the land<MH776> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>cultivate<MH7462b> faithfulness<MH530>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Delight<MH6026> yourself in the LORD<MH3068>; <t><p class="indent1">And He will give<MH5414> you the desires<MH4862> of your heart<MH3820>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Commit<MH1556> your way<MH1870> to the LORD<MH3068>, <t><p class="indent1">Trust<MH982> also in Him, and He will do<MH6213a> it. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>He will bring<MH3318> out<MH3318> your righteousness<MH6664> as the light<MH216>, <t><p class="indent1">And your judgment<MH4941> as the noonday<MH6672a>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>Rest<MH1826a> in the LORD<MH3068> and wait<MH2342a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>patiently<MH2342a> for Him; <t><p class="indent1">Do not get<MH2734> upset<MH2734> because of one who is<MH6743b> successful<MH6743b> in his way<MH1870>, <t><p class="indent1">Because of the person<MH376> who carries<MH6213a> out<MH6213a> wicked<MH4209> schemes<MH4209>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Cease<MH7503> from anger<MH639> and abandon<MH5800a> wrath<MH2534>; <t><p class="indent1">Do not get<MH2734> upset<MH2734>; <i>it leads</i> only<MH389> to evildoing<MH7489a>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>For evildoers<MH7489a> will be eliminated<MH3772>, <t><p class="indent1">But those who wait<MH6960a> for the LORD<MH3068>, they will inherit<MH3423> the land<MH776>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Yet<MH5750> a little<MH4592> while<MH4592> and the wicked<MH7563> person<MH7563> will be no<MH369> more<MH369>; <t><p class="indent1">And you will look<MH995> carefully<MH995> for his place<MH4725> and he will not be <i>there.</i> <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>But the humble<MH6035> will inherit<MH3423> the land<MH776> <t><p class="indent1">And will delight<MH6026> themselves in abundant<MH7230> prosperity<MH7965>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>The wicked<MH7563> plots<MH2161> against the righteous<MH6662>, <t><p class="indent1">And gnashes<MH2786> at him with his teeth<MH8127>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>The Lord<MH136> laughs<MH7832> at him, <t><p class="indent1">For He sees<MH7200> that his day<MH3117> is coming<MH935>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>The wicked<MH7563> have drawn<MH6605a> the sword<MH2719> and bent<MH1869> their bow<MH7198> <t><p class="indent1">To take<MH5307> down<MH5307> the afflicted<MH6041> and the needy<MH34>, <t><p class="indent1">To kill<MH2873> off<MH2873> those who are upright<MH3477> in conduct<MH1870>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Their sword<MH2719> will enter<MH935> their own heart<MH3820>, <t><p class="indent1">And their bows<MH7198> will be broken<MH7665>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Better<MH2896a> is the little<MH4592> of the righteous<MH6662> <t><p class="indent1">Than<MH4480> the abundance<MH1995> of many<MH7227a> wicked<MH7563>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>For the arms<MH2220> of the wicked<MH7563> will be broken<MH7665>, <t><p class="indent1">But the LORD<MH3068> sustains<MH5564> the righteous<MH6662>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>The LORD<MH3068> knows<MH3045> the days<MH3117> of the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>blameless<MH8549>, <t><p class="indent1">And their inheritance<MH5159> will be forever<MH5769>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>They will not be<MH954> ashamed<MH954> in the time<MH6256> of evil<MH7463a>, <t><p class="indent1">And in the days<MH3117> of famine<MH7459> they will have<MH7646> plenty<MH7646>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>But the wicked<MH7563> will perish<MH6>; <t><p class="indent1">And the enemies<MH340> of the LORD<MH3068> will be like the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>glory<MH3368> of the pastures<MH3733b>, <t><p class="indent1">They vanish<MH3615>—like smoke<MH6227> they vanish<MH3615> away. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>The wicked<MH7563> borrows<MH3867b> and does not pay<MH7999a> back<MH7999a>, <t><p class="indent1">But the righteous<MH6662> is gracious<MH2603a> and gives<MH5414>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>For those blessed<MH1288> by Him will inherit<MH3423> the land<MH776>, <t><p class="indent1">But those cursed<MH7043> by Him will be eliminated<MH3772>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>The steps<MH4703> of a man<MH1397> are established<MH3559> by the LORD<MH3068>, <t><p class="indent1">And He delights<MH2654a> in his way<MH1870>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>When<MH3588> he falls<MH5307>, he will not be hurled<MH2904> down<MH2904>, <t><p class="indent1">Because<MH3588> the LORD<MH3068> is the One <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>who holds<MH5564> his hand<MH3027>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>I have been<MH1961> young<MH5288> and now<MH1571> I am<MH2204> old<MH2204>, <t><p class="indent1">Yet I have not seen<MH7200> the righteous<MH6662> forsaken<MH5800a> <t><p class="indent1">Or his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>descendants<MH2233> begging<MH1245> for bread<MH3899>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>All<MH3605> day<MH3117> long he is gracious<MH2603a> and lends<MH3867b>, <t><p class="indent1">And his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>descendants<MH2233> are a blessing<MH1293>. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>Turn<MH5493> from evil<MH7451b> and do<MH6213a> good<MH2896b>, <t><p class="indent1">So that you will dwell<MH7931> forever<MH5769>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>For the LORD<MH3068> loves<MH157> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>justice<MH4941> <t><p class="indent1">And does not abandon<MH5800a> His godly<MH2623> ones<MH2623>; <t><p class="indent1">They are protected<MH8104> forever<MH5769>, <t><p class="indent1">But the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>descendants<MH2233> of the wicked<MH7563> will be eliminated<MH3772>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>The righteous<MH6662> will inherit<MH3423> the land<MH776> <t><p class="indent1">And dwell<MH7931> in it forever<MH5703>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>The mouth<MH6310> of the righteous<MH6662> utters<MH1897> wisdom<MH2451>, <t><p class="indent1">And his tongue<MH3956> speaks<MH1696> justice<MH4941>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>The Law<MH8451> of his God<MH430> is in his heart<MH3820>; <t><p class="indent1">His steps<MH804a> do not slip<MH4571>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>The wicked<MH7563> spies<MH6822> upon the righteous<MH6662> <t><p class="indent1">And seeks<MH1245> to kill<MH4191> him. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>The LORD<MH3068> will not leave<MH5800a> him in his hand<MH3027> <t><p class="indent1">Or let him be condemned<MH7561> when he is judged<MH8199>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>Wait<MH6960a> for the LORD<MH3068> and keep<MH8104> His way<MH1870>, <t><p class="indent1">And He will exalt<MH7311> you to inherit<MH3423> the land<MH776>; <t><p class="indent1">When the wicked<MH7563> are eliminated<MH3772>, you will see<MH7200> it. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>I have seen<MH7200> a wicked<MH7563>, violent<MH6184> person<MH7563> <t><p class="indent1">Spreading<MH6168> himself like a luxuriant<MH7488> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>tree<MH249> in its native<MH249> soil. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>Then he passed<MH5674a> away<MH5674a>, and behold<MH2009>, he was no<MH369> more<MH369>; <t><p class="indent1">I searched<MH1245> for him, but he could not be found<MH4672>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>Observe<MH8104> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>blameless<MH8535> person<MH8535>, and look<MH7200> at the upright<MH3477>; <t><p class="indent1">For the person<MH376> of peace<MH7965> will have a future<MH319>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>But wrongdoers<MH6586> will altogether<MH3164a> be destroyed<MH8045>; <t><p class="indent1">The future<MH319> of the wicked<MH7563> will be eliminated<MH3772>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>But the salvation<MH8668> of the righteous<MH6662> is from the LORD<MH3068>; <t><p class="indent1">He is their strength<MH4581> in time<MH6256> of trouble<MH6869a>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/psalms/37-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>The LORD<MH3068> helps<MH5826> them and rescues<MH6403> them;
