ที่โด่งดังที่สุดของ google คือ pagerank เป็น algorythm แรกที่ google คิดค้นขึ้นและใช้งานจนมาถึงปัจจุบัน อะไรทำให้ pagerank เป็นที่โด่งดังมาจนถึงทุกวันนี้ นั่นคือ pagerank มีตัวชี้วัดที่แน่นอน เป็นแถบ pagerank ที่สามารถดูได้ว่า เว็บแต่ละเว็บได้คะแนนอยู่ในลำดับที่เท่าไหร่ แม้ว่าการอัพเดตให้ดูนั้นจะใช้เวลานานมากในแต่ละรอบ แม้ว่า google จะมีการออก algorythm มาอีกหลายตัว ไม่ว่าจะเป็น hilltop, trustrank หรือสองตัวล่าสุดอย่าง caffeine และ panda แต่ตัวพวกนี้ได้แต่พูดถึงว่าเป็นอย่างไร ยังไงในการทำ seo pagerank ยังเป็นเครื่องมือช่วยที่ดีที่สุด เพราะว่าเป็น algorythm ตัวเดียวที่มีมาตรวัดคะแนน ดังนั้นไม่ว่าเนื้อหานั้นจะเป็นบทความทั่ว ๆ ไป เรื่องในบล็อก หรือแม้แต่การโพสท์ในฟอรั่มต่าง ๆ ขอเพียง เป็นเนื้อหาใหม่ที่ไม่ซ้ำใคร เกี่ยวเนื่องกับบทความนั้น ๆ google ก็จะให้ความสำคัญกับบทความนั้น ๆ
