It creates interoperable descriptions in <a href="/web/20230320145746/https://archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk/ead/">EAD</a> format, but it does not require knowledge of EAD. The Console also provides access to edit your repository description and you can create <a href="/web/20230320145746/https://archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk/contributingonlineresources/">Online Resource descriptions</a>. </p> <p>Location: <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20230320145746/https://editor.archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk/">https://editor.archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk</a> </p> <p>Our <a href="/web/20230320145746/https://archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk/eadeditorhelp/">EAD Editor Help Page</a> provides further information on how to access the Editor, what the Editor does, uploading descriptions and user administration. </p>  </div> </div> <div class="col span-6"> <div class="l-gutter--left"> <div class="cms">  <p><blockquote>"The EAD editor is really clever – it caught a few classic instances of reversed dates, and even where I had duplicated a reference number." (Hub contributor, 2022)</blockquote></p> <p>With the Editor you can:</p> <p> <ul><li>Create a collection level or multi-level entry</li> <li>Add former and alternative references in addition to current references</li> <li>Add standardised dates for searching in addition to display dates</li> <li>Link to VIAF names through our VIAF lookup</li> <li>Preview all of your work as you go along</li> <li>Use our formatting menu to add italics, lists and links</li> <li>Add images and links to digital content</li> <li>Add structured index terms, including events</li> <li>Add both place names and geographical features</li> <li>View and navigate your hierarchy via the tree structure</li> <li>Add components with auto references or with your own references </li> <li>Use templates to create boilerplate text</li> <li>Add descriptions of theme-based online resources </li> <li>Create admin users, who can access all descriptions, and basic users, who can access their own edit area</li> </ul> </p> <p>Read about how the University of Leeds have used the Editor to <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20230320145746/https://leedsunilibrary.wordpress.com/2020/06/03/spreading-the-word-our-archives-hub-project/">spread the word</a>!</p> </p> <p><blockquote>"it was great!..I enjoyed the whole day; the pace was just right, the information all relevant but not overwhelming and all in all I can't think of any way of improving it."
