And there was warre betweene Abiam & Ieroboam.<p> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And Abiam slept with his fathers, & they buried him in the citie of Dauid: and Asa his sonne raigned in his steade.<p> <A name="10"></a><p class="hdg">Asa Reigns in Judah<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../2_chronicles/14.htm">2 Chronicles 14:1–15</a>; <a href ="../2_chronicles/15.htm#8">2 Chronicles 15:8–19</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>In the twentith yere of Ieroboam king of Israel raigned Asa ouer Iuda. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Fourtie & one yeres raigned he in Hierusalem: and his mothers name was Maacha, the daughter of Abisalom. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And Asa did <FI>that seemed<Fi> ryght in the eyes of the Lorde, as did Dauid his father. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And he toke away the male stewes out of the lande, and put away all the abhominable idols that his fathers had made. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And he put downe Maacha his mother from bearing rule, because she had made an idoll in a groue: And Asa destroyed her idoll, and burnt it by the brooke Cedron. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>But the hie places were not put downe: Neuerthelesse Asa his heart was perfect with the Lorde all his dayes. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>He brought in the holy vessels of his father, and that he had dedicate vnto the house of the Lord, golde, and siluer, and iewels.<p> <A name="17"></a><p class="hdg">War between Asa and Baasha<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../2_chronicles/16.htm">2 Chronicles 16:1–6</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And there was warre betweene Asa, & Baasa king of Israel all their dayes. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And Baasa king of Israel went vp against Iuda, and built Rama, so that he woulde let none go out or in to Asa king of Iuda. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Then Asa toke al the siluer and golde that was left in the treasures of the house of the Lorde, and the treasures of the kinges house, and deliuered them vnto the handes of his seruauntes, and king Asa sent them to Benhadad the sonne of Tabrimon the sonne of Hezion king of Syria that dwelt at Damasco, saying: <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>There is a bonde betweene me & thee, betweene my father and thy father: and beholde I haue sent vnto thee a present of siluer and golde, that thou come and breake the bonde that thou hast with Baasa king of Israel, that he may depart from me. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>So Benhadad hearkened vnto king Asa, & sent the captaynes of the hoastes which he had, against the cities of Israel, and smote Hion, and Dan, and Abel, Beth Maacah, and all <FI>the region of<Fi> Ceneroth, with all the lande of Nephthali. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And when Baasa heard thereof, he left building of Rama, and dwelt in Thirza. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Iuda, that none should be excused: And so they toke the stones of Ramah and the tymber wherewith Baasa had builded, and king Asa built with them the hill of Beniamin and Mispah.<p> <A name="24"></a><p class="hdg">Jehoshaphat Succeeds Asa<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../2_chronicles/17.htm">2 Chronicles 17:1–19</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>The remnaunt of all the wordes that concerne Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he builded, are they not written in the booke of the cronicles of the kinges of Iuda?
