Sources at ACM FAccT 2023</h1> </div> </div> <div class="container"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-lg-12"> <p class="lead">Authors of papers accepted at the conference must provide a detailed disclosure of funding sources in the camera-ready version of their papers.</p> <p>Please notice that this applies only to the <strong>final</strong> publication-ready version of a paper. ACM FAccT 2023 usues a <strong>mutually anonymous</strong> review process, and acknowledgments should not be included in any manuscript submitted for review.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-lg-12"> <p>The detailed funding disclosure includes three elements:</p> <ol> <li><strong>Funding/sponsorship sources,</strong> including partial funding.</li> <li><strong>The role of each entity (employer, funder, or sponsor)</strong> with respect to at least the following aspects of the paper:</li> <ol> <li>design and conduct of the study;</li> <li>access and collection of data;</li> <li>analysis and interpretation of data;</li> <li>preparation, review, or approval of the manuscript; and</li> <li>decision to submit the manuscript for publication.</li> </ol> <li><strong>Financial interests</strong> connecting authors to entities that may be affected by the publication of a paper.</li> </ol> <p><strong>Funding/sponsorship sources</strong> must include all entities that provided support for the paper (such as funding, sponsorship, provision of materials including data, processing capacity, and other forms of support). If support is provided through a grant having an identifier (such as a grant number), please include that identifier. The entities listed as author affiliations are assumed to provide support and do not need to be listed in this part.</p> <p><strong>The role of each entity (employer, funder, or sponsor)</strong> must be specified for each entity in at least the five aspects listed above. If a funder/sponsor does not have a role in an aspect, that also must be specified. The entities listed as author affiliations must be listed here if anyone, other than the listed authors, played a role in an aspect.</p> <p><strong>Financial interests</strong> should include all entities with whom an author has a relationship, activity, or interest, and that may be affected by the publication of the paper. Authors should interpret “financial interests” broadly. Hence, if you are in doubt about whether to list a relationship, you should do so. A disclosure does not indicate a bias, on the contrary, a disclosure represents a commitment to transparency.</p> <p>Authors should include relationships, activities, and interests covering 36 months before the date of submission of the manuscript, including:</p> <ul> <li>Grants, contracts, or employment, related to either private, non-profit or public entities, not already disclosed in the author’s affiliations or in the funding/sponsorship sources.</li> <li>Royalties or licenses paid; patent applications being drafted, presented, or issued.</li> <li>Consulting fees, speaker fees, expert testimony fees, honoraria, or other payments.</li> <li>Participation in any board, committee, or working group, such as an advisory board.</li> <li>Support for attending meetings and/or travel.</li> <li>Donations or support for purchasing equipment, materials, or services.</li> <li>Other financial or non-financial interests that would lead a reasonable person to believe an external entity to which an author is related may be affected by the publication of a paper, or may have influenced it. The exact definitions of “related”, “affected”, and “influence” are nuanced and context-dependent, and as a result cannot be completely framed.</li> </ul> <p>Authors may include additional details in the funding disclosure that they consider relevant.
