A methodology to reconstruct and generate a transparent model has been developed, as well as visualization and particle tracking techniques. The generated transparent models allow visualizing the flow patterns with a regular camera using the visualization techniques. The final goal is to use visualization as a tool to provide more information on the treatment and surgery decisions in aneurysms. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aneurysms" title="aneurysms">aneurysms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PIV" title=" PIV"> PIV</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flow%20visualization" title=" flow visualization"> flow visualization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20tracking" title=" particle tracking"> particle tracking</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165909/flow-visualization-in-biological-complex-geometries-for-personalized-medicine" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165909.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">90</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">133</span> Structural Performance of a Bridge Pier on Dubious Deep Foundation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=V%C3%ADctor%20Cecilio">Víctor Cecilio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roberto%20G%C3%B3mez"> Roberto Gómez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=J.%20Alberto%20Escobar"> J. Detection of foundation piles with uncertain integrity prompted the review of possible situations that could jeopardy the structural safety of the pier. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the structural conditions of the support, taking into account the type of anomaly reported and the depth at which it is located, the position of the pile with uncertain integrity in the foundation system, the stratigraphy of the surrounding soil and the geometry and structural characteristics of the pier. To carry out the above, dynamic analysis, spectral modal, and step-by-step, with elastic and inelastic material models, were performed. Results were evaluated in accordance with the standards used for the design of the original structural project and with the Construction Regulations for Mexico’s Federal District (RCDF-2017, 2017). Comments on the response of the analyzed models are issued, and the conclusions are presented from a structural point of view. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20analysis" title="dynamic analysis">dynamic analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inelastic%20models" title=" inelastic models"> inelastic models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dubious%20foundation" title=" dubious foundation"> dubious foundation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bridge%20pier" title=" bridge pier"> bridge pier</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116289/structural-performance-of-a-bridge-pier-on-dubious-deep-foundation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116289.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">132</span> Quercetin Nanoparticles and Their Hypoglycemic Effect in a CD1 Mouse Model with Type 2 Diabetes Induced by Streptozotocin and a High-Fat and High-Sugar Diet</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adriana%20Garcia-Gurrola">Adriana Garcia-Gurrola</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carlos%20Adrian%20Pe%C3%B1a%20Natividad"> Carlos Adrian Peña Natividad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ana%20Laura%20Martinez%20Martinez"> Ana Laura Martinez Martinez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20Abraham%20Escobar%20Puentes"> Alberto Abraham Escobar Puentes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Estefania%20Ochoa%20Ruiz"> Estefania Ochoa Ruiz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aracely%20Serrano%20Medina"> Aracely Serrano Medina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abraham%20Wall%20Medrano"> Abraham Wall Medrano</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Simon%20Yobanny%20Reyes%20Lopez"> Simon Yobanny Reyes Lopez</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels. Quercetin is a natural flavonoid with a hypoglycemic effect, but reported data are inconsistent due mainly to the structural instability and low solubility of quercetin. Nanoencapsulation is a distinct strategy to overcome the intrinsic limitations of quercetin. Therefore, this work aims to develop a quercetin nano-formulation based on biopolymeric starch nanoparticles to enhance the release and hypoglycemic effect of quercetin in T2DM induced mice model. Starch-quercetin nanoparticles were synthesized using high-intensity ultrasonication, and structural and colloidal properties were determined by FTIR and DLS. For in vivo studies, CD1 male mice (n=25) were divided into five groups (n=5). T2DM was induced using a high-fat and high-sugar diet for 32 weeks and streptozotocin injection. Group 1 consisted of healthy mice fed with a normal diet and water ad libitum; Group 2 were diabetic mice treated with saline solution; Group 3 were diabetic mice treated with glibenclamide; Group 4 were diabetic mice treated with empty nanoparticles; and Group 5 was diabetic mice treated with quercetin nanoparticles. Quercetin nanoparticles had a hydrodynamic size of 232 ± 88.45 nm, a PDI of 0.310 ± 0.04 and a zeta potential of -4 ± 0.85 mV. The encapsulation efficiency of nanoparticles was 58 ± 3.33 %. No significant differences (p = > 0.05) were observed in biochemical parameters (lipids, insulin, and peptide C). Groups 3 and 5 showed a similar hypoglycemic effect, but quercetin nanoparticles showed a longer-lasting effect. Histopathological studies reveal that T2DM mice groups showed degenerated and fatty liver tissue; however, a treated group with quercetin nanoparticles showed liver tissue like that of the healthy mice group. These results demonstrate that quercetin nano-formulations based on starch nanoparticles are effective alternatives with hypoglycemic effects. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quercetin" title="quercetin">quercetin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diabetes%20mellitus%20tipo%202" title=" diabetes mellitus tipo 2"> diabetes mellitus tipo 2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=in%20vivo%20study" title=" in vivo study"> in vivo study</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoparticles" title=" nanoparticles"> nanoparticles</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188958/quercetin-nanoparticles-and-their-hypoglycemic-effect-in-a-cd1-mouse-model-with-type-2-diabetes-induced-by-streptozotocin-and-a-high-fat-and-high-sugar-diet" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188958.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">33</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">131</span> Development and Structural Characterization of a Snack Food with Added Type 4 Extruded Resistant Starch</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20A.%20Escobar%20Puentes">Alberto A. However, due to the increase on the demand and third generation (3G) snacks market, low price and easy to prepare, can be considered as carriers of compounds with certain nutritional value. Resistant starch (RS) is classified as a prebiotic fiber it helps to control metabolic problems and has anti-cancer colon properties. The active compound can be developed by chemical cross-linking of starch with phosphate salts to obtain a type 4 resistant starch (RS4). The chemical reaction can be achieved by extrusion, a process widely used to produce snack foods, since it's versatile and a low-cost procedure. Starch is the major ingredient for snacks 3G manufacture, and the seeds of sorghum contain high levels of starch (70%), the most drought-tolerant gluten-free cereal. Due to this, the aim of this research was to develop a snack (3G), with RS4 in optimal conditions extrusion (previously determined) from sorghum starch, and carry on a sensory, chemically and structural characterization. A sample (200 g) of sorghum starch was conditioned with 4% sodium trimetaphosphate/ sodium tripolyphosphate (99:1) and set to 28.5% of moisture content. Then, the sample was processed in a single screw extruder equipped with rectangular die. The inlet, transport and output temperatures were 60°C, 134°C and 70°C, respectively. The resulting pellets were expanded in a microwave oven. The expansion index (EI), penetration force (PF) and sensory analysis were evaluated in the expanded pellets. The pellets were milled to obtain flour and RS content, degree of substitution (DS), and percentage of phosphorus (% P) were measured. Spectroscopy [Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR)], X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis were performed in order to determine structural changes after the process. The results in 3G were as follows: RS, 17.14 ± 0.29%; EI, 5.66 ± 0.35 and PF, 5.73 ± 0.15 (N). Groups of phosphate were identified in the starch molecule by FTIR: DS, 0.024 ± 0.003 and %P, 0.35±0.15 [values permitted as food additives (<4 %P)]. In this work an increase of the gelatinization temperature after the crosslinking of starch was detected; the loss of granular and vapor bubbles after expansion were observed by SEM; By using X-ray diffraction, loss of crystallinity was observed after extrusion process. Finally, a snack (3G) was obtained with RS4 developed by extrusion technology. The sorghum starch was efficient for snack 3G production. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extrusion" title="extrusion">extrusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resistant%20starch" title=" resistant starch"> resistant starch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=snack%20%283G%29" title=" snack (3G)"> snack (3G)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sorghum" title=" Sorghum"> Sorghum</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49819/development-and-structural-characterization-of-a-snack-food-with-added-type-4-extruded-resistant-starch" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49819.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">309</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">130</span> Sorghum Polyphenols Encapsulated by Spray Drying, Using Modified Starches as Wall Materials</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adriana%20Garcia%20G.">Adriana Garcia G.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20A.%20Escobar%20P."> Alberto A. However, these compounds are highly sensible to environmental factors such as light and heat, so lose its long-term stability, besides possess an astringent and bitter taste. Nevertheless, the polyphenols can be protected by microcapsule formulation. In this sense, a rich source of polyphenols is sorghum, besides presenting a high starch content. Due to the above, the aim of this work was to obtain modified starches from sorghum by extrusion to encapsulate polyphenols the sorghum by spray drying. Polyphenols were extracted by ethanol solution from sorghum (Pajarero/red) and determined by the method of Folin-Ciocalteu, obtaining GAE at 30 mg/g. Moreover, was extracted starch of sorghum (Sinaloense/white) through wet milling (yield 32 %). The hydrolyzed starch was modified with three treatments: acetic anhydride (2.5g/100g), sodium tripolyphosphate (4g/100g), and sodium tripolyphosphate/ acetic anhydride (2g/1.25g by each 100 g) by extrusion. Processing conditions of extrusion were as follows: barrel temperatures were of 60, 130 and 170 °C at the feeding, transition, and high-pressure extrusion zones, respectively. Analysis of Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), showed bands exhibited of acetyl groups (1735 cm-1) and phosphates (1170 cm-1, 910 cm-1 and 525 cm-1), indicating the respective modification of starch. Besides, all modified starches not developed viscosity, which is a characteristic required for use in the encapsulation of polyphenols using the spray drying technique. As result of the modification starch, was obtained a water solubility index (WSI) from 33.8 to 44.8 %, and crystallinity from 8 to 11 %, indicating the destruction of the starch granule. Afterwards, microencapsulation of polyphenols was developed by spray drying, with a blend of 10 g of modified starch, 60 ml polyphenol extract and 30 ml of distilled water. Drying conditions were as follows: inlet air temperature 150 °C ± 1, outlet air temperature 80°C ± 5. As result of the microencapsulation: were obtained yields of 56.8 to 77.4 % and an efficiency of encapsulation from 84.6 to 91.4 %. The FTIR analysis showed evidence of microcapsules loaded with polyphenols in bands 1042 cm-1, 1038 cm-1 and 1148 cm-1. Analysis Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed transition temperatures from 144.1 to 173.9 °C. For the order hand, analysis of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), were observed rounded surfaces with concavities, typical feature of microcapsules produced by spray drying, how result of rapid evaporation of water. Finally, the modified starches were obtained by extrusion with good characteristics for use as cover materials by spray drying, where the phosphorylated starch was the best treatment in this work, according to the encapsulation yield, efficiency, and transition temperature. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=encapsulation" title="encapsulation">encapsulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extrusion" title=" extrusion"> extrusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modified%20starch" title=" modified starch"> modified starch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polyphenols" title=" polyphenols"> polyphenols</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spray%20drying" title=" spray drying"> spray drying</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49820/sorghum-polyphenols-encapsulated-by-spray-drying-using-modified-starches-as-wall-materials" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49820.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">308</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">129</span> A Multivariate 4/2 Stochastic Covariance Model: Properties and Applications to Portfolio Decisions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yuyang%20Cheng">Yuyang Cheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marcos%20Escobar-Anel"> Marcos Escobar-Anel</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper introduces a multivariate 4/2 stochastic covariance process generalizing the one-dimensional counterparts presented in Grasselli (2017). Our construction permits stochastic correlation not only among stocks but also among volatilities, also known as co-volatility movements, both driven by more convenient 4/2 stochastic structures. The parametrization is flexible enough to separate these types of correlation, permitting their individual study. Conditions for proper changes of measure and closed-form characteristic functions under risk-neutral and historical measures are provided, allowing for applications of the model to risk management and derivative pricing. We apply the model to an expected utility theory problem in incomplete markets. Our analysis leads to closed-form solutions for the optimal allocation and value function. Conditions are provided for well-defined solutions together with a verification theorem. Our numerical analysis highlights and separates the impact of key statistics on equity portfolio decisions, in particular, volatility, correlation, and co-volatility movements, with the latter being the least important in an incomplete market. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stochastic%20covariance%20process" title="stochastic covariance process">stochastic covariance process</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=4%2F2%20stochastic%20volatility%20model" title=" 4/2 stochastic volatility model"> 4/2 stochastic volatility model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stochastic%20co-volatility%20movements" title=" stochastic co-volatility movements"> stochastic co-volatility movements</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=characteristic%20function" title=" characteristic function"> characteristic function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=expected%20utility%20theory" title=" expected utility theory"> expected utility theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=veri%0Ccation%20theorem" title=" verication theorem"> verication theorem</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/153747/a-multivariate-42-stochastic-covariance-model-properties-and-applications-to-portfolio-decisions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/153747.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">152</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">128</span> Variational Evolutionary Splines for Solving a Model of Temporomandibular Disorders</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20Hananel">Alberto Hananel</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this work is to modelize the occlusion of a person with temporomandibular disorders as an evolutionary equation and approach its solution by the construction and characterizing of discrete variational splines. The heat supplied to the evaporation stages is obtained from the cane bagasse through the thermochemical process of combustion, where the thermal energy released is transferred to OE by the flue gas. Therefore, the optimization of energy usage becomes essential for the proper design of the production process. For optimize the energy use, it is necessary modeling and simulation of heat transfer between the combustion gases and the juice and to understand the major mechanisms involved in the heat transfer. The main objective of this work was simulated heat transfer phenomena between the flue gas and open heat exchangers using Computational Fluid Dynamics model (CFD). The simulation results were compared to field measured data. Numerical results about temperature profile along the flue gas pipeline at the measurement points are in good accordance with field measurements. Thus, this study could be of special interest in design NCS production process and the optimization of the use of energy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mathematical%20modeling" title="mathematical modeling">mathematical modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=design%20variables" title=" design variables"> design variables</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computational%20fluid%20dynamics" title=" computational fluid dynamics"> computational fluid dynamics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=overall%20thermal%20efficiency" title=" overall thermal efficiency"> overall thermal efficiency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146794/non-centrifugal-cane-sugar-production-heat-transfer-study-to-optimize-the-use-of-energy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146794.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">125</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">126</span> Electrocardiogram-Based Heartbeat Classification Using Convolutional Neural Networks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jacqueline%20Rose%20T.%20Alipo-on">Jacqueline Rose T. However, the traditional rule-based analysis of large volumes of ECG data is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and prone to human errors. With the advancement of the programming paradigm, algorithms such as machine learning have been increasingly used to perform an analysis of ECG signals. In this paper, various deep learning algorithms were adapted to classify five classes of heartbeat types. The dataset used in this work is the synthetic MIT-BIH Arrhythmia dataset produced from generative adversarial networks (GANs). Various deep learning models such as ResNet-50 convolutional neural network (CNN), 1-D CNN, and long short-term memory (LSTM) were evaluated and compared. ResNet-50 was found to outperform other models in terms of recall and F1 score using a five-fold average score of 98.88% and 98.87%, respectively. 1-D CNN, on the other hand, was found to have the highest average precision of 98.93%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heartbeat%20classification" title="heartbeat classification">heartbeat classification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=convolutional%20neural%20network" title=" convolutional neural network"> convolutional neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrocardiogram%20signals" title=" electrocardiogram signals"> electrocardiogram signals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=generative%20adversarial%20networks" title=" generative adversarial networks"> generative adversarial networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=long%20short-term%20memory" title=" long short-term memory"> long short-term memory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ResNet-50" title=" ResNet-50"> ResNet-50</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162763/electrocardiogram-based-heartbeat-classification-using-convolutional-neural-networks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162763.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">128</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">125</span> The Effect of the Hemispheres of the Brain and the Tone of Voice on Persuasion</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rica%20Jell%20de%20Laza">Rica Jell de Laza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20Alberto%20Fernandez"> Jose Alberto Fernandez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andrea%20Marie%20Mendoza"> Andrea Marie Mendoza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qristin%20Jeuel%20Regalado"> Qristin Jeuel Regalado</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study investigates whether participants experience different levels of persuasion depending on the hemisphere of the brain and the tone of voice. In this work, we show cosmology, from a perspective that can provide some proposals to help develop SMB in Mexico. We start from the belief that, in a complex world, the solutions to problems must nurture from different approaches. In order to be able to do this, we need to change our point of reference and use theoretical proposals and methodologies that came from other disciplines; in this case, we will try to show that between philosophy and administration exist dialogs that need to be incentivized. The work is structured in three parts. In the first one, we create a description of cosmology and how it could be applied to business. In the second, we show some of the most common problems that the SMB suffer from and in the third, we present a proposal of how cosmology can help improve the development. Finally, we concluded that better understanding of real needs, integration of knowledge at large scale and using information technologies within the cosmology framework presentment could make a difference. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=harmonic%20fusion" title="harmonic fusion">harmonic fusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=national%20sustainability" title=" national sustainability"> national sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20management" title=" financial management"> financial management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=triple%20helix" title=" triple helix"> triple helix</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69627/enterprise-harmonic-fusion-as-national-sustainability" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69627.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">394</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">120</span> Evaluation of Limestone as Self-Curing Aggregate for Concretes in the Southeast of Yucatan Peninsula</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=D.%20G.%20Rejon-Parra">D. Due to its recent geological formation (Quaternary) and weathering effects causing an affordable aggregate for local manufacturers of concrete. It is characterized as lightweight aggregates (average density of 2,50), susceptible to abrasion and varying porosities (water content exceeding 7,50 % of its mass, in saturated condition). In this study, local aggregates with two moisture conditions (saturated and dry), have been examined in order to compare them for optimizing the performance of concrete. It is possible that these aggregates favour a phenomenon of mass transport (self-curing by porous aggregate); influencing the water reactions to form crystalline and gel hydration products. Based on the ACI methodology, a concrete mixture of 250 kg/cm2 was designed, with portland blended cement 30R. The bond between the mortar and the coarse aggregate was characterized as physicochemical based on trials which were carefully observed during time span of 28 days. The BET technique was used to analyse the micro porosity and surface areas of contact of the different crystalline phases of the limestone. Its chemical composition and crystal structures were verified with scanning electron microscopy SEM-EDS. On the third day, the samples with saturated aggregate reached 237 kg/cm2 of resistence, nearly the design strength; while samples with dry aggregate, exceeded the design strength, with a capacity of 308 kg/cm2. Aggregates in dry conditions demand a high quantity of water in the initial mixture, causing high resistance at the early stages. In saturated conditions, the development of resistance is progressive but constant. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=concrete" title="concrete">concrete</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internal%20curing" title=" internal curing"> internal curing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=limestone%20aggregate" title=" limestone aggregate"> limestone aggregate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=porosity" title=" porosity"> porosity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29256/evaluation-of-limestone-as-self-curing-aggregate-for-concretes-in-the-southeast-of-yucatan-peninsula" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29256.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">390</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">119</span> Prediction of Oxygen Transfer and Gas Hold-Up in Pneumatic Bioreactors Containing Viscous Newtonian Fluids</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Caroline%20E.%20Mendes">Caroline E. All correlations showed good fit to the experimental data (R2≥94%), and comparisons with correlations from the literature demonstrate the need for further similar studies due to shortage of data available, mainly for airlift reactors and high viscosity fluids. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bubble%20column" title="bubble column">bubble column</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internal%20loop%20airlift" title=" internal loop airlift"> internal loop airlift</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gas%20hold-up" title=" gas hold-up"> gas hold-up</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kLa" title=" kLa"> kLa</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2744/prediction-of-oxygen-transfer-and-gas-hold-up-in-pneumatic-bioreactors-containing-viscous-newtonian-fluids" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2744.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">274</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">118</span> A Model Approach of Good Practice Based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge® Guide in the Project Owner</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Claudia%20Marcela%20Munoz%20Gonzalez">Claudia Marcela Munoz Gonzalez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diego%20Fernando%20Hernandez%20Losada"> Diego Fernando Hernandez Losada</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hugo%20Alberto%20Herrera%20Fonseca"> Hugo Alberto Herrera Fonseca</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The project owner's role in the public-private investment consists of controlling and verifying the correct execution of the project's objectives and resources. These affect the business continuity of an organization, regarding confidentiality, availability, and integrity of services, causing frequent losses of both information and money. The purpose of this study is to establish the necessary measures to mitigate DoS threats, which affect the availability of VoIP systems, based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). A Security Model called MS-DoS-SIP is proposed, which is based on two approaches. The first one analyzes the recommendations of international security standards. The second approach takes into account weaknesses and threats. The implementation of this model in a VoIP simulated system allowed to minimize the present vulnerabilities in 92% and increase the availability time of the VoIP service into an organization. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Denial-of-Service%20SIP%20attacks" title="Denial-of-Service SIP attacks">Denial-of-Service SIP attacks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MS-DoS-SIP" title=" MS-DoS-SIP"> MS-DoS-SIP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=security%20model" title=" security model"> security model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=VoIP-SIP%20vulnerabilities" title=" VoIP-SIP vulnerabilities"> VoIP-SIP vulnerabilities</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85955/towards-a-security-model-against-denial-of-service-attacks-for-sip-traffic" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85955.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">203</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">116</span> Cellular Automata Model for Car Accidents at a Signalized Intersection</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rachid%20Marzoug">Rachid Marzoug</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noureddine%20Lakouari"> Noureddine Lakouari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Beatriz%20Castillo%20T%C3%A9llez"> Beatriz Castillo Téllez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Margarita%20Castillo%20T%C3%A9llez"> Margarita Castillo Téllez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gerardo%20Alberto%20Mej%C3%ADa%20P%C3%A9rez"> Gerardo Alberto Mejía Pérez</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper developed a two-lane cellular automata model to explain the relationship between car accidents at a signalized intersection and traffic-related parameters. It is found that the increase of the lane-changing probability P?ₕ? increases the risk of accidents, besides, the inflow α and the probability of accidents Pₐ? exhibit a nonlinear relationship. Furthermore, depending on the inflow, Pₐ? exhibits three different phases. The transition from phase I to phase II is of first (second) order when P?ₕ?=0 (P?ₕ?>0). However, the system exhibits a second (first) order transition from phase II to phase III when P?ₕ?=0 (P?ₕ?>0). In addition, when the inflow is not very high, the green light length of one road should be increased to improve road safety. Finally, simulation results show that the traffic at the intersection is safer adopting symmetric lane-changing rules than asymmetric ones. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-lane%20intersection" title="two-lane intersection">two-lane intersection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=accidents" title=" accidents"> accidents</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fatality%20risk" title=" fatality risk"> fatality risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lane-changing" title=" lane-changing"> lane-changing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phase%20transition" title=" phase transition"> phase transition</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140637/cellular-automata-model-for-car-accidents-at-a-signalized-intersection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140637.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">218</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">115</span> Learning through Gaming with Mobile Devices</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luis%20Rodrigo%20Valencia%20P%C3%A9rez">Luis Rodrigo Valencia Pérez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Juan%20Manuel%20Pe%C3%B1a%20Aguilar"> Juan Manuel Peña Aguilar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adelina%20Morita%20Alexander"> Adelina Morita Alexander</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20Lamadrid%20Alvarez"> Alberto Lamadrid Alvarez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H%C3%A9ctor%20Fernando%20Valencia%20P%C3%A9rez"> Héctor Fernando Valencia Pérez</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Financial education is among the areas of opportunity in the Spanish-speaking from an early age to high school, through mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets using ludic and fun applications like interactive games, children can learn money management and investment through time, thereby fostering the habit of saving and/or sound management of cash and family business resources, having interaction with an uncontrolled environment such as the involvement of other players in the external decisions of the environment in which the game is play. These graphs englobe statistical information about music elements such as notes, chords, rhythms, intervals, etc., and the relations among them, and so become helpful in visualizing and understanding important stylistic features of a music fragment. In order to build such networks, musical data is parsed out of a digital symbolic music file. This data undergoes different analytical procedures from Graph Theory, such as measuring the centrality of nodes, community detection, and entropy calculation. The resulting networks reflect important structural characteristics of the fragment in question: predominant elements, connectivity between them, and complexity of the information contained in it. Music pieces in different styles are analyzed, and the results are contrasted with the traditional analysis outcome in order to show the consistency and potential utility of this method for music analysis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computational%20musicology" title="computational musicology">computational musicology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mathematical%20music%20modelling" title=" mathematical music modelling"> mathematical music modelling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=music%20analysis" title=" music analysis"> music analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=style%20classification" title=" style classification"> style classification</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163401/a-network-theorical-perspective-on-music-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163401.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">102</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">113</span> Radar Charts Analysis to Compare the Level of Innovation in Mexico with Most Innovative Countries in Triple Helix Schema Economic and Human Factor Dimension</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Pe%C3%B1a%20Aguilar%20Juan">M. The above analysis suggests nine dimensions: Expenditure on R & D, intellectual property, appropriate environment to conduct business, economic stability, and triple helix for R & D, ICT Infrastructure, education, human resources and quality of life. Each dimension is represented by an indicator which is later used to construct a radial graph that compares the innovative capacity of the countries analysed. As a result, it is proposed a new indicator of innovation called The Area of Innovation. Observations are made from the results, and finally as a conclusion, those items or dimensions in which Mexico suffers lag in innovation are identify. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dimension" title="dimension">dimension</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=measure" title=" measure"> measure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovation%20level" title=" innovation level"> innovation level</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=economy" title=" economy"> economy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=radar%20chart" title=" radar chart"> radar chart</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7567/radar-charts-analysis-to-compare-the-level-of-innovation-in-mexico-with-most-innovative-countries-in-triple-helix-schema-economic-and-human-factor-dimension" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7567.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">472</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">112</span> The Regional Center for Business Quality of the University Center of the Valleys: Transiting to an Entrepreneurial University</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carlos%20Alberto%20Santamaria%20Velasco">Carlos Alberto Santamaria Velasco</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The study object of this chapter analyzes the case of the Centro Regional para la Calidad Empresarial (CreCE) starting from an analysis of the theoretical discussion about the universities as actors of the development and generation of enterprises. The objective is to know the theoretical discussion and the state of art about the entrepreneurial universities from the institutional theory of Douglas North, carrying out a theoretical analysis of the formal and informal factors from the universities linking the specific case of the CReCE. A literature review was carried out in the main journals in the topic of entrepreneurship, about the factors that influence the creation and development of entrepreneurial universities, complementing research in the study of a particular case, CreCE, and how this affects in the transformation of the CUVALLES(Centro Universitario de los Valles) in its way towards an entrepreneurial university. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=entrepreneurial%20university" title="entrepreneurial university">entrepreneurial university</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=institutional%20theory" title=" institutional theory"> institutional theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=university" title=" university"> university</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=entrepreneurial%20universities" title=" entrepreneurial universities"> entrepreneurial universities</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71713/the-regional-center-for-business-quality-of-the-university-center-of-the-valleys-transiting-to-an-entrepreneurial-university" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71713.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">232</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">111</span> Reactivation of Hydrated Cement and Recycled Concrete Powder by Thermal Treatment for Partial Replacement of Virgin Cement</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gustave%20Semugaza">Gustave Semugaza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anne%20Zora%20Gierth"> Anne Zora Gierth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tommy%20Mielke"> Tommy Mielke</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marianela%20Escobar%20Castillo"> Marianela Escobar Castillo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nat%20Doru%20C.%20Lupascu"> Nat Doru C. Several studies investigated the use of CDW materials in the production of new concrete and indicated the lower mechanical properties of the resulting concrete. Many other researchers considered the possibility of using the Hydrated Cement Powder (HCP) to replace a part of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), but only very few investigated the use of Recycled Concrete Powder (RCP) from CDW. The partial replacement of OPC for making new concrete intends to decrease the CO₂ emissions associated with OPC production. However, the RCP and HCP need treatment to produce the new concrete of required mechanical properties. The thermal treatment method has proven to improve HCP properties before their use. Previous research has stated that for using HCP in concrete, the optimum results are achievable by heating HCP between 400°C and 800°C. The optimum heating temperature depends on the type of cement used to make the Hydrated Cement Specimens (HCS), the crushing and heating method of HCP, and the curing method of the Rehydrated Cement Specimens (RCS). This research assessed the quality of recycled materials by using different techniques such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG), Scanning electron Microscopy (SEM), and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF). These recycled materials were thermally pretreated at different temperatures from 200°C to 1000°C. Additionally, the research investigated to what extent the thermally treated recycled cement could partially replace the OPC and if the new concrete produced would achieve the required mechanical properties. The mechanical properties were evaluated on the RCS, obtained by mixing the Dehydrated Cement Powder and Recycled Powder (DCP and DRP) with water (w/c = 0.6 and w/c = 0.45). The research used the compressive testing machine for compressive strength testing, and the three-point bending test was used to assess the flexural strength. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrated%20cement%20powder" title="hydrated cement powder">hydrated cement powder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dehydrated%20cement%20powder" title=" dehydrated cement powder"> dehydrated cement powder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recycled%20concrete%20powder" title=" recycled concrete powder"> recycled concrete powder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20treatment" title=" thermal treatment"> thermal treatment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reactivation" title=" reactivation"> reactivation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical%20performance" title=" mechanical performance"> mechanical performance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148142/reactivation-of-hydrated-cement-and-recycled-concrete-powder-by-thermal-treatment-for-partial-replacement-of-virgin-cement" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148142.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">153</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">110</span> Artificial Intelligence for Safety Related Aviation Incident and Accident Investigation Scenarios</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bernabeo%20R.%20Alberto">Bernabeo R. Thus, we intend to contribute to the needed high innovation capacity, skills, and training development and management of artificial intelligence, supported by appropriate regulations and attention to ethical problems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20intelligence" title="artificial intelligence">artificial intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aviation%20accident" title=" aviation accident"> aviation accident</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aviation%20incident" title=" aviation incident"> aviation incident</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk" title=" risk"> risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety" title=" safety"> safety</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/191510/artificial-intelligence-for-safety-related-aviation-incident-and-accident-investigation-scenarios" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/191510.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">22</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">109</span> Predicting Machine-Down of Woodworking Industrial Machines</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Matteo%20Calabrese">Matteo Calabrese</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martin%20Cimmino"> Martin Cimmino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dimos%20Kapetis"> Dimos Kapetis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martina%20Manfrin"> Martina Manfrin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Donato%20Concilio"> Donato Concilio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Giuseppe%20Toscano"> Giuseppe Toscano</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Giovanni%20Ciandrini"> Giovanni Ciandrini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Giancarlo%20Paccapeli"> Giancarlo Paccapeli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gianluca%20Giarratana"> Gianluca Giarratana</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marco%20Siciliano"> Marco Siciliano</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andrea%20Forlani"> Andrea Forlani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20Carrotta"> Alberto Carrotta</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper we describe a machine learning methodology for Predictive Maintenance (PdM) applied on woodworking industrial machines. PdM is a prominent strategy consisting of all the operational techniques and actions required to ensure machine availability and to prevent a machine-down failure. One of the challenges with PdM approach is to design and develop of an embedded smart system to enable the health status of the machine. The proposed approach allows screening simultaneously multiple connected machines, thus providing real-time monitoring that can be adopted with maintenance management. This is achieved by applying temporal feature engineering techniques and training an ensemble of classification algorithms to predict Remaining Useful Lifetime of woodworking machines. The effectiveness of the methodology is demonstrated by testing an independent sample of additional woodworking machines without presenting machine down event. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=predictive%20maintenance" title="predictive maintenance">predictive maintenance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=connected%20machines" title=" connected machines"> connected machines</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20intelligence" title=" artificial intelligence"> artificial intelligence</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98461/predicting-machine-down-of-woodworking-industrial-machines" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98461.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">226</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">108</span> Mathematical Models for GMAW and FCAW Welding Processes for Structural Steels Used in the Oil Industry</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carlos%20Alberto%20Carvalho%20Castro">Carlos Alberto Carvalho Castro</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nancy%20Del%20Ducca%20Barbedo"> Nancy Del Ducca Barbedo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Edmilsom%20Otoni%20C%C3%B4rrea"> Edmilsom Otoni Côrrea</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With increase the production oil and lines transmission gases that are in ample expansion, the industries medium and great transport they had to adapt itself to supply the demand manufacture in this fabrication segment. In this context, two welding processes have been more extensively used: the GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) and the FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding). In this work, welds using these processes were carried out in flat position on ASTM A-36 carbon steel plates in order to make a comparative evaluation between them concerning to mechanical and metallurgical properties. A statistical tool based on technical analysis and design of experiments, DOE, from the Minitab software was adopted. For these analyses, the voltage, current, and welding speed, in both processes, were varied. As a result, it was observed that the welds in both processes have different characteristics in relation to the metallurgical properties and performance, but they present good weldability, satisfactory mechanical strength e developed mathematical models. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Flux%20Cored%20Arc%20Welding%20%28FCAW%29" title="Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)">Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gas%20Metal%20Arc%20Welding%20%28GMAW%29" title=" Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)"> Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Design%20of%20Experiments%20%28DOE%29" title=" Design of Experiments (DOE)"> Design of Experiments (DOE)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mathematical%20models" title=" mathematical models"> mathematical models</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29499/mathematical-models-for-gmaw-and-fcaw-welding-processes-for-structural-steels-used-in-the-oil-industry" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29499.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">560</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">107</span> Digital Maturity Framework: A Tool to Manage the Information Technologies and Develop Activities of Innovation in Companies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paulina%20Sol%C3%B3rzano%20Salgado">Paulina Solórzano Salgado</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luis%20Rodrigo%20Valencia%20P%C3%A9rez"> Luis Rodrigo Valencia Pérez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alberto%20de%20Jes%C3%BAs%20Pastrana%20Palma"> Alberto de Jesús Pastrana Palma</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this research, it is presented a digital maturity framework, which contributes to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the commercial sector. This proposal is based on three important concepts: Marketing activities in the enterprise, information and communication technologies ICT, as well as Innovation. Prior to the development of this framework, was formulated a quantitative assessment tool through a literature review, and was validated with a method used by experts, and which determines the relationship of digital marketing and innovation activities in companies. The instrument was applied to 64 Mexican companies from the Made in Mexico database, which allowed both descriptive results and correlation results. These contributed to the development of the methodology, and confirming that the management of digital marketing has a positive relation with innovation activities of companies. Also, that analytics in digital marketing is a source for its development. In this paper, the management stages and activities are presented to be developed by companies in order to generate knowledge, which will allow them to reach its digital maturity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20marketing" title="digital marketing">digital marketing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20maturity" title=" digital maturity"> digital maturity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovation" title=" innovation"> innovation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SMEs" title=" SMEs"> SMEs</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70476/digital-maturity-framework-a-tool-to-manage-the-information-technologies-and-develop-activities-of-innovation-in-companies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70476.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">469</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">106</span> Biosecurity Control Systems in Two Phases for Poultry Farms</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Pe%C3%B1a%20Aguilar%20Juan">M. The control system consists of two phases for the conditioning of the farm during the sanitary break. In the first phase, viral and bacterial inactivation was performed by treating the stool dry cleaning, along with the development of a specialized product that foster the generation of temperatures above 55 °C in less than 24 hr, for virus inactivation. In the second phase, a process for disinfection by fogging was implemented, along with the development of a specialized disinfectant that guarantee no risk for the operators’ health or birds. As a result of this process, it was possible to minimize the level of mortality of chickens on farms from 12% to 5.49%, representing a reduction of 6.51% in the death rate, through the formula applied to the treatment of poultry litter based on oxidising agents used as antiseptics, hydrogen peroxide solutions, glacial acetic acid and EDTA in order to act on bacteria, viruses, micro bacteria and spores. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovation" title="innovation">innovation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=triple%20helix" title=" triple helix"> triple helix</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=poultry%20farms" title=" poultry farms"> poultry farms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biosecurity" title=" biosecurity"> biosecurity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53145/biosecurity-control-systems-in-two-phases-for-poultry-farms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53145.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">284</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">105</span> An Extended X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure Study of CoTi Thin Films</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20Alberto%20Duarte%20Moller">Jose Alberto Duarte Moller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cynthia%20Deisy%20Gomez%20Esparza"> Cynthia Deisy Gomez Esparza</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The cobalt-titanium system was grown as thin films in an INTERCOVAMEX V3 sputtering system, equipped with four magnetrons assisted by DC pulsed and direct DC. A polished highly oriented (400) silicon wafer was used as substrate and the growing temperature was 500 oC. Xray Absorption Spectroscopy experiments were carried out in the SSRL in the 4-3 beam line. The Extenden X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure spectra have been numerically processed by WINXAS software from the background subtraction until the normalization and FFT adjustment. Analyzing the absorption spectra of cobalt in the CoTi2 phase we can appreciate that they agree in energy with the reference spectra that corresponds to the CoO, which indicates that the valence where upon working is Co2+. The RDF experimental results were then compared with those RDF´s generated theoretically by using FEFF software, from a model compound of CoTi2 phase obtained by XRD. The fitting procedure is a highly iterative process. Fits are also checked in R-space using both the real and imaginary parts of Fourier transform. Finally, the presence of overlapping coordination shells and the correctness of the assumption about the nature of the coordinating atom were checked. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong>
