For details about where the RePEc Author Service account is useful for, see <a href="https://blog.repec.org/2019/10/03/what-a-repec-author-service-account-is-good-for/">this FRED Blog post</a>.</p><h2 xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">Overview</h2><p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> By聽registering a聽user creates a聽profile and an聽account in the system.聽 <a ref="new-user!">Registration</a> process requires a聽valid email address and takes several screens to go聽through.聽 After main several screens, the system sends a聽confirmation email to the user.聽 When user opens the confirmation link in the email message, the user鈥檚 data is saved and account activated. </p><p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> When a聽profile is聽created and each time it is聽updated, it is聽written to a聽static web page with a聽short permanent address. </p><p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> Users enter the email address and a聽password to聽login.聽 After you login into the service, you can change any part of聽your profile. </p><p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> The changes you do to聽your profile will not take effect until you log off.聽 If you do not log off yourself, the system will do it for you after a聽short period of聽inactivity.聽 It will save your changes (if any) and close your session.
