UGKS is a direct modeling method for both continuum and rarefied flow computations. The dynamics of particle and gas are described as rarefied and continuum flow, respectively. Therefore, we use the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) equation for the particle distribution function. For the gas phase, the gas kinetic scheme for Navier-Stokes equation is solved. The momentum transfer between gas and particle is achieved by the acceleration term added to the BGK equation. The new scheme is tested by a 2cm-in-thickness dense bed comprised of glass particles with 1.5mm in diameter, and reasonable agreement is achieved. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gas-particle%20flow" title="gas-particle flow">gas-particle flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unified%20gas-kinetic%20scheme" title=" unified gas-kinetic scheme"> unified gas-kinetic scheme</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=momentum%20transfer" title=" momentum transfer"> momentum transfer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shock-induced%20fluidization" title=" shock-induced fluidization"> shock-induced fluidization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94993/unified-gas-kinetic-scheme-for-gas-particle-flow-in-shock-induced-fluidization-of-particles-bed" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94993.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">260</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2575</span> A Study on Kinetic of Nitrous Oxide Catalytic Decomposition over CuO/HZSM-5</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Y.%20J.%20Song">Y. The kinetic of nitrous oxide decomposition was studied for CuO/HZSM-5 catalyst prepared by incipient wetness impregnation method. The external and internal diffusion of catalytic reaction were considered in the investigation. Experiment results indicated that the external diffusion was basically eliminated when the reaction gas mixture gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) was higher than 9000h⁻¹ and the influence of the internal diffusion was negligible when the particle size of the catalyst CuO/HZSM-5 was small than 40-60 mesh. The experiment results showed that the kinetic of catalytic decomposition of N₂O was a first-order reaction and the activation energy and the pre-factor of the kinetic equation were 115.15kJ/mol and of 1.6×109, respectively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=catalytic%20decomposition" title="catalytic decomposition">catalytic decomposition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CuO%2FHZSM-5" title=" CuO/HZSM-5"> CuO/HZSM-5</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kinetic" title=" kinetic"> kinetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nitrous%20oxide" title=" nitrous oxide"> nitrous oxide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130896/a-study-on-kinetic-of-nitrous-oxide-catalytic-decomposition-over-cuohzsm-5" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130896.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">184</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2574</span> Influence of an External Magnetic Field on the Acoustomagnetoelectric Field in a Rectangular Quantum Wire with an Infinite Potential by Using a Quantum Kinetic Equation </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=N.%20Q.%20Bau">N. We obtained ananalytic expression for the AME field in the RQWIP in the presence of the EMF. The dependence of AME field on the frequency of external acoustic wave, the temperature T of system, the cyclotron frequency of the EMF and the intensity of the EMF is obtained. Theoretical results for the AME field are numerically evaluated, plotted and discussed for a specific RQWIP GaAs/GaAsAl. This result has shown that the dependence of the AME field on intensity of the EMF is nonlinearly and it is many distinct maxima in the quantized magnetic region. We also compared received fields with those for normal bulk semiconductors, quantum well and quantum wire to show the difference. The influence of an EMF on AME field in a RQWIP is newly developed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rectangular%20quantum%20wire" title="rectangular quantum wire">rectangular quantum wire</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acoustomagnetoelectric%20field" title=" acoustomagnetoelectric field"> acoustomagnetoelectric field</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electron-phonon%20interaction" title=" electron-phonon interaction"> electron-phonon interaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kinetic%20equation%20method" title=" kinetic equation method"> kinetic equation method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41446/influence-of-an-external-magnetic-field-on-the-acoustomagnetoelectric-field-in-a-rectangular-quantum-wire-with-an-infinite-potential-by-using-a-quantum-kinetic-equation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41446.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">336</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2573</span> Energy Conservation and H-Theorem for the Enskog-Vlasov Equation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eugene%20Benilov">Eugene Benilov</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mikhail%20Benilov"> Mikhail Benilov</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Enskog-Vlasov (EV) equation is a widely used semi-phenomenological model of gas/liquid phase transitions. Numerical studies are an important part of impact, which several researchers have tried to simulate the impact by using different formulas. Estimation of the impact force and the dissipated energy depends significantly on some parameters of impact. Mass of bodies, stiffness of spring, coefficient of restitution, damping ratio of dashpot and impact velocity are some known and unknown parameters to simulate the impact and measure dissipated energy during collision. Collision is usually shown by force-displacement hysteresis curve. The enclosed area of the hysteresis loop explains the dissipated energy during impact. In this paper, the effect of using different types of impact models is investigated in order to calculate the impact force. To increase the accuracy of impact model and to optimize the results of simulations, a new damping equation is assumed and is validated to get the best results of impact force and dissipated energy, which can show the accuracy of suggested equation of motion in comparison with other formulas. This relation is called "n-m". Based on mathematical relation, an initial value is selected for the mentioned coefficients and kinetic energy loss is calculated. After each simulation, kinetic energy loss and energy dissipation are compared with each other. If they are equal, selected parameters are true and, if not, the constant of parameters are modified and a new analysis is performed. Finally, two unknown parameters are suggested to estimate the impact force and calculate the dissipated energy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact%20force" title="impact force">impact force</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dissipated%20energy" title=" dissipated energy"> dissipated energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kinetic%20energy%20loss" title=" kinetic energy loss"> kinetic energy loss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=damping%20relation" title=" damping relation "> damping relation </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14416/prediction-of-pounding-between-two-sdof-systems-by-using-link-element-based-on-mathematic-relations-and-suggestion-of-new-equation-for-impact-damping-ratio" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14416.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">552</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2570</span> A Biomimetic Approach for the Multi-Objective Optimization of Kinetic Façade Design</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Do-Jin%20Jang">Do-Jin Jang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sung-Ah%20Kim"> Sung-Ah Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A kinetic fa&ccedil;ade responds to user requirements and environmental conditions. &nbsp; In designing a kinetic fa&ccedil;ade, kinetic patterns play a key role in determining its performance. The quality of machined surface depends on jet exit kinetic energy which depends on various operating and material parameters. In the present work the effect abrasive parameters such as its size, concentration and type on jet kinetic energy is investigated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). In addition, the effect of these parameters on wall shear stress developed inside the nozzle is also investigated. It is found that for the same operating parameters, increase in the abrasive volume fraction (concentration) results in significant decrease in the wall shear stress as well as the jet exit kinetic energy. Increase in the abrasive particle size results in marginal decrease in the jet exit kinetic energy. Numerical simulation also indicates that garnet abrasives produce better jet exit kinetic energy than aluminium oxide and silicon carbide. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=abrasive%20water%20jet%20machining" title="abrasive water jet machining">abrasive water jet machining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=jet%20kinetic%20energy" title=" jet kinetic energy"> jet kinetic energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=operating%20pressure" title=" operating pressure"> operating pressure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wall%20shear%20stress" title=" wall shear stress"> wall shear stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Garnet%20abrasive" title=" Garnet abrasive"> Garnet abrasive</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27545/numerical-analysis-on-the-effect-of-abrasive-parameters-on-wall-shear-stress-and-jet-exit-kinetic-energy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27545.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">377</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2567</span> The Effect of Raindrop Kinetic Energy on Soil Erodibility</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Moussouni">A. The kinetic energy of raindrop is the energy available for detachment and transport by splashing rain. The soil erodibility is defined as the ability of soil to resist to erosion. For this purpose, an experimental study was conducted in the laboratory using rainfall simulator to study the effect of the kinetic energy of rain (Ec) on the soil erodibility (K). The soil used was a sandy agricultural soil of 62.08% coarse sand, 19.14% fine sand, 6.39% fine silt, 5.18% coarse silt and 7.21% clay. The obtained results show that the kinetic energy of raindrops evolves as a power law with soil erodibility. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=erosion" title="erosion">erosion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=runoff" title=" runoff"> runoff</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=raindrop%20kinetic%20energy" title=" raindrop kinetic energy"> raindrop kinetic energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil%20erodibility" title=" soil erodibility"> soil erodibility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rainfall%20intensity" title=" rainfall intensity"> rainfall intensity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=raindrop%20fall%20velocity" title=" raindrop fall velocity"> raindrop fall velocity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19685/the-effect-of-raindrop-kinetic-energy-on-soil-erodibility" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19685.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">505</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2566</span> Adsorption of Paracetamol Using Activated Carbon of Dende and Babassu Coconut Mesocarp</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20C.%20Ferreira">R. The HC and the MR in Rectangular Quantum Wire (RQW) subjected to a crossed DC electric field and magnetic field in the presence of a Strong Electromagnetic Wave (EMW) characterized by electric field are studied in this work. Using the quantum kinetic equation for electrons interacting with optical phonons, we obtain the analytic expressions for the HC and the MR with a dependence on magnetic field, EMW frequency, temperatures of systems and the length characteristic parameters of RQW. These expressions are different from those obtained for bulk semiconductors and cylindrical quantum wires. The analytical results are applied to GaAs/GaAs/Al. For this material, MR depends on the ratio of the EMW frequency to the cyclotron frequency. Indeed, MR reaches a minimum at the ratio 5/4, and when this ratio increases, it tends towards a saturation value. The HC can take negative or positive values. Each curve has one maximum and one minimum. When magnetic field increases, the HC is negative, achieves a minimum value and then increases suddenly to a maximum with a positive value. This phenomenon differs from the one observed in cylindrical quantum wire, which does not have maximum and minimum values. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hall%20coefficient" title="hall coefficient">hall coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rectangular%20quantum%20wires" title=" rectangular quantum wires"> rectangular quantum wires</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electron-optical%20phonon%20interaction" title=" electron-optical phonon interaction"> electron-optical phonon interaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20kinetic%20equation" title=" quantum kinetic equation"> quantum kinetic equation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41442/the-hall-coefficient-and-magnetoresistance-in-rectangular-quantum-wires-with-infinitely-high-potential-under-the-influence-of-a-laser-radiation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41442.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">488</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2563</span> Hall Coefficient in the Presence of Strong Electromagnetic Waves Caused by Confined Electrons and Phonons in a Rectangular Quantum Wire</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nguyen%20Quang%20Bau">Nguyen Quang Bau</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nguyen%20Thu%20Huong"> Nguyen Thu Huong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dang%20Thi%20Thanh%20Thuy"> Dang Thi Thanh Thuy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The analytic expression for the Hall Coefficient (HC) caused by the confined electrons in the presence of a strong electromagnetic wave (EMW) including the effect of phonon confinement in rectangular quantum wires (RQWs) is calculated by using the quantum kinetic equation for electrons in the case of electron - optical phonon scattering. It is because the expression of the HC for the confined phonon case contains indexes m, m&rsquo; which are specific to the phonon confinement. The expression in a RQW is different from that for the case of unconfined phonons in a RQW or in 2D. The results are numerically calculated and discussed for a GaAs/GaAsAl RQW. The numerical results show that HC in a RQW can have both negative and positive values. This is different from the case of the absence of EMW and the case presence of EMW including the effect of phonon unconfinement in a RQW. These results are also compared with those in the case of unconfined phonons in a RQW and confined phonons in a quantum well. The conductivity in the case of confined phonon has more resonance peaks compared with that in case of unconfined phonons in a RQW. This new property is the same in quantum well. All results are compared with the case of unconfined phonons to see differences. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hall%20coefficient" title="Hall coefficient">Hall coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rectangular%20quantum%20wires" title=" rectangular quantum wires"> rectangular quantum wires</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electron-optical%20phonon%20interaction" title=" electron-optical phonon interaction"> electron-optical phonon interaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20kinetic%20equation" title=" quantum kinetic equation"> quantum kinetic equation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=confined%20phonons" title=" confined phonons"> confined phonons</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53789/hall-coefficient-in-the-presence-of-strong-electromagnetic-waves-caused-by-confined-electrons-and-phonons-in-a-rectangular-quantum-wire" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53789.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">280</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2562</span> OmniDrive Model of a Holonomic Mobile Robot</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hussein%20Altartouri">Hussein Altartouri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper the kinematic and kinetic models of an omnidirectional holonomic mobile robot is presented. As a marriage of the KdV equation and the classical Burgers (KdVB) equation, the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers (KdVB) equation is a mathematical model of waves on shallow water surfaces in the presence of viscous dissipation. Asymptotic analysis is a method of describing limiting behavior and is a key tool for exploring the differential equations which arise in the mathematical modeling of real-world phenomena. It is highly perishable and, spoilage occurs as a result of series of complicated biochemical changes brought about by enzymes which are the function of time and storage temperature also. The influence of storage temperature (5, 0, and -5 °C) on colour and texture of fish were studied during 14 days storage period in order to analyze kinetics of colour and textural changes. The rate of total colour change was most noticeable at the highest storage temperature (5°C), and these changes were well described by the first order reaction. Texture is an important variable of quality of the fish and is increasing concern to aquaculture industries. Textural parameters such as hardness, toughness and stiffness were evaluated on a texture analyzer for the different day of stored fish. The significant reduction (P ≤ 0.05) in hardness was observed after 2nd, 4th and 8th day for the fish stored at 5, 0, and -5 °C respectively. The textural changes of fish during storage followed a first order kinetic model and fitted well with this model (R2 > 0.95). However, the textural data with respect to time was also fitted to modified Maxwell model and found to be good fit with R2 value ranges from 0.96 to 0.98. Temperature dependence of colour and texture change was adequately modelled with the Arrhenius type equation. This fitted model may be used for the determination of shelf life of Rohu Rohu (Labeo rohita) Fish. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=first%20order%20kinetics" title="first order kinetics">first order kinetics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biochemical%20changes" title=" biochemical changes"> biochemical changes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maxwell%20model" title=" Maxwell model"> Maxwell model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=colour" title=" colour"> colour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=texture" title=" texture"> texture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arrhenius%20type%20equation" title=" Arrhenius type equation"> Arrhenius type equation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57115/kinetic-modeling-of-colour-and-textural-properties-of-stored-rohu-labeo-rohita-fish" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57115.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">234</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2558</span> Aging Evaluation of Ammonium Perchlorate/Hydroxyl Terminated Polybutadiene-Based Solid Rocket Engine by Reactive Molecular Dynamics Simulation and Thermal Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20F.%20B.%20Gon%C3%A7alves">R. In addition, the kinetic parameters of internal pressure of the combustion chamber in 08 rocket engines with 11 years of shelf-life were also acquired, for comparison purposes with the engine start-up data. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shelf-life" title="shelf-life">shelf-life</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20analysis" title=" thermal analysis"> thermal analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ozawa%20method" title=" Ozawa method"> Ozawa method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kissinger%20method" title=" Kissinger method"> Kissinger method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LAMMPS%20software" title=" LAMMPS software"> LAMMPS software</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thrust" title=" thrust"> thrust</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/99235/aging-evaluation-of-ammonium-perchloratehydroxyl-terminated-polybutadiene-based-solid-rocket-engine-by-reactive-molecular-dynamics-simulation-and-thermal-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/99235.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">127</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2557</span> The Potential of Braking Energy Recuperation in a City Bus Diesel Engine in the Japanese JE05 Emission Test Cycle</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Grzegorz%20Baranski">Grzegorz Baranski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Piotr%20Kacejko"> Piotr Kacejko</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Konrad%20Pietrykowski"> Konrad Pietrykowski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mariusz%20Duk"> Mariusz Duk</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper discusses a model of a bus-driving scheme. Rapid changes in speed result in a constantly changing kinetic energy accumulated in a bus mass and an increased fuel consumption due to hardly recuperated kinetic energy. The model is based on the results achieved from chassis dynamometer, airport and city street researches. The verified model was applied to simulate the mechanical energy recuperation during the Japanese JE05 Emission Test Cycle. The simulations were performed for several values of vehicle mass. The research results show that fuel economy is impacted by kinetic energy recuperation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heavy%20duty%20vehicle" title="heavy duty vehicle">heavy duty vehicle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=city%20bus" title=" city bus"> city bus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Japanese%20JE05%20test%20cycle" title=" Japanese JE05 test cycle"> Japanese JE05 test cycle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kinetic%20energy" title=" kinetic energy"> kinetic energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simulations" title=" simulations"> simulations</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81468/the-potential-of-braking-energy-recuperation-in-a-city-bus-diesel-engine-in-the-japanese-je05-emission-test-cycle" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81468.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">214</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2556</span> An Analytical Method for Solving General Riccati Equation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Y.%20Pala">Y. By the method developed, looking at the transformed equation, whether or not an explicit solution can be obtained is readily determined. Since the present method does not require a proper solution for the general solution, it is especially suitable for equations whose proper solutions cannot be seen at first glance. Since the transformed second order linear equation obtained by the present transformation has the simplest form that it can have, it is immediately seen whether or not the original equation can be solved analytically. Velocity gradients in a compressible turbulent flow field influence several important nonlinear turbulent processes like cascading and intermittency. In an attempt to understand the dynamics of the velocity gradients various researchers have tried to model the unclosed terms in the evolution equation of the VGT. The existing models proposed for these unclosed terms have limited applicability. This is mainly attributable to the complex structure of the higher order gradient terms appearing in the evolution equation of VGT. We investigate these higher order gradients using the data from direct numerical simulation (DNS) of compressible decaying isotropic turbulent flow. The gas kinetic method aided with weighted essentially non-oscillatory scheme (WENO) based flow- reconstruction is employed to generate DNS data. By applying neural-network to the DNS data, we map the structure of the unclosed higher order gradient terms in the evolution of the equation of the VGT with VGT itself. We validate our findings by performing alignment based study of the unclosed higher order gradient terms obtained using the neural network with the strain rate eigenvectors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=compressible%20turbulence" title="compressible turbulence">compressible turbulence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neural%20network" title=" neural network"> neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=velocity%20gradient%20tensor" title=" velocity gradient tensor"> velocity gradient tensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=direct%20numerical%20simulation" title=" direct numerical simulation"> direct numerical simulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/101552/data-driven-analysis-of-velocity-gradient-dynamics-using-neural-network" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/101552.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">168</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2554</span> Electron Beam Effects on Kinetic Alfven Waves in the Cold Homogenous Plasma</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jaya%20Shrivastava">Jaya Shrivastava </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The particle aspect approach is adopted to investigate the trajectories of charged particles in the electromagnetic field of kinetic Alfven wave. Laboratory experimental data from a 5 liter batch digester operating at mesophilic temperature of 32 C is used to derive parameters for Michaelis-Menten kinetic model. These fitted kinetics are further used to predict the scale-up parameters of a batch digester using DynoChem modeling and scale-up software. The scale-up model results are compared with performance data from 20 liter, 50 liter, and 200 liter batch digesters. Michaelis-Menten kinetic model shows to be a very good and easy to use model for kinetic parameter fitting on DynoChem and can accurately predict scale-up performance of 20 liter and 50 liter batch reactor based on parameters fitted on a 5 liter batch reactor. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Biogas" title="Biogas">Biogas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kinetics" title=" kinetics"> kinetics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DynoChem%20Scale-up" title=" DynoChem Scale-up"> DynoChem Scale-up</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michaelis-Menten" title=" Michaelis-Menten "> Michaelis-Menten </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33007/kinetic-modeling-study-and-scale-up-of-niogas-generation-using-garden-grass-and-cattle-dung-as-feedstock" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33007.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">497</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2551</span> Operator Splitting Scheme for the Inverse Nagumo Equation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sharon-Yasotha%20Veerayah-Mcgregor">Sharon-Yasotha Veerayah-Mcgregor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Valipuram%20Manoranjan"> Valipuram Manoranjan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A backward or inverse problem is known to be an ill-posed problem due to its instability that easily emerges with any slight change within the conditions of the problem. The harmanic model converts an image into arbitrary shape; however, this mode cannot be described by any fixed functions in mathematics. In fact, it is represented by partial differential equation (PDE) with boundary conditions. Therefore, to develop an efficient method to solve such a PDE is extremely significant in the image transform. In this paper, a novel Integral Equation-Wavelet based method is presented, which consists of three steps: (1) The partial differential equation is converted into boundary integral equation and representation by an indirect method. (2) The boundary integral equation and representation are changed to plane integral equation and representation by boundary measure formula. (3) The plane integral equation and representation are then solved by a method we call wavelet collocation. Our approach has two main advantages, the shape of an image is arbitrary and the program code is independent of the boundary. The performance of our method is evaluated by numerical experiments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=harmonic%20model" title="harmonic model">harmonic model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=partial%20differential%20equation%20%28PDE%29" title=" partial differential equation (PDE)"> partial differential equation (PDE)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=integral%20equation" title=" integral equation"> integral equation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=integral%20representation" title=" integral representation"> integral representation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=boundary%20measure%20formula" title=" boundary measure formula"> boundary measure formula</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wavelet%20collocation" title=" wavelet collocation"> wavelet collocation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3920/image-transform-based-on-integral-equation-wavelet-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3920.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">558</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2548</span> Equilibrium and Kinetic Studies of Lead Adsorption on Activated Carbon Derived from Mangrove Propagule Waste by Phosphoric Acid Activation </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Widi%20Astuti">Widi Astuti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rizki%20Agus%20Hermawan"> Rizki Agus Hermawan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hariono%20Mukti"> Hariono Mukti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nurul%20Retno%20Sugiyono"> Nurul Retno Sugiyono</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The removal of lead ion (Pb2+) from aqueous solution by activated carbon with phosphoric acid activation employing mangrove propagule as precursor was investigated in a batch adsorption system. In this work, the heat release rates of pine, fir wood and mahogany pellets at 30–70℃ were measured by TAM air isothermal calorimeter, and the kinetic analysis was performed by iso-conversion ratio and non-steady-state methods to evaluate its self-heating potential. The results show that the reaction temperature can significantly affect the heat release rate. The higher the temperature, the greater the heat release rate. The heat release rates of different kinds of wood pellets are obviously different, and the order of the heat release rates for the three pellets at 70℃ is pine > fir wood > mahogany. The kinetic analysis of the iso-conversion ratio method indicates that the distribution of activation energy for pine, fir wood and mahogany pellets under the release of 0.1–1.0 J/g specific heat are 58–102 kJ/mol, 59–108 kJ/mol and 59–112 kJ/mol, respectively. Their activation energies obtained from the non-steady-state kinetic analysis are 13.43 kJ/mol, 19.19 kJ/mol and 21.09 kJ/mol, respectively. Both kinetic analyses show that the magnitude of self-heating risk for the three pellet fuels is pine pellets > fir wood pellets > mahogany pellets. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
