for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>in that <i>matter in</i> which<MG3739> you judge<MG2919> someone<MG2087> else<MG2087>, you condemn<MG2632> yourself<MG4572>; for you who judge<MG2919> practice<MG4238> the same<MG846> things<MG846>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>And we know<MG3609a> that the judgment<MG2917> of God<MG2316> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>rightly<MG2596, 225> falls<MG1510> upon those<MG3588> who practice<MG4238> such<MG5108> things<MG5108>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>But do you suppose<MG3049> this<MG3778>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>you <i>foolish</i> person<MG444> who passes<MG2919> judgment<MG2919> on<MG2919> those<MG3588> who practice<MG4238> such<MG5108> things<MG5108>, and <i>yet</i> does<MG4160> them <i>as well,</i> that you will escape<MG1628> the judgment<MG2917> of God<MG2316>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Or<MG2228> do you think<MG2706> lightly<MG2706> of the riches<MG4149> of His kindness<MG5544> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>restraint<MG463> and patience<MG3115>, not knowing<MG50> that the kindness<MG5543> of God<MG2316> leads<MG71> you to repentance<MG3341>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>But <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>because<MG2596> of your stubbornness<MG4643> and unrepentant<MG279> heart<MG2588> you are storing<MG2343> up<MG2343> wrath<MG3709> for yourself<MG4572> on the day<MG2250> of wrath<MG3709> and revelation<MG602> of the righteous<MG1341> judgment<MG1341> of God<MG2316>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>who<MG3739> WILL REPAY<MG591> EACH<MG1538> PERSON<MG1538> ACCORDING<MG2596> TO HIS DEEDS<MG2041>: <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>to those<MG3588> who by perseverance<MG5281> in doing<MG2041> good<MG18> seek<MG2212> glory<MG1391>, honor<MG5092>, and immortality<MG861>, <i>He will give</i> eternal<MG166> life<MG2222>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>but to those<MG3588> who are self-serving<MG2052> and do not<MG544> obey<MG544> the truth<MG225>, but obey<MG3982> unrighteousness<MG93>, <i>He will give</i> wrath<MG3709> and indignation<MG2372>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span><i>There will be</i> tribulation<MG2347> and distress<MG4730> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>for every<MG3956> soul<MG5590> of mankind<MG444> who does<MG2716> evil<MG2556>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>for the Jew<MG2453> first<MG4413> and also<MG5037> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>for the Greek<MG1672>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>but glory<MG1391>, honor<MG5092>, and peace<MG1515> to everyone<MG3956> who does<MG2038b> what<MG18> is<MG18> good<MG18>, to the Jew<MG2453> first<MG4413> and also<MG5037> to the Greek<MG1672>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>For there is no<MG3756> partiality<MG4382> with God<MG2316>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>For all<MG3745> who<MG3745> have sinned<MG264> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>without<MG460> the<MG460> Law<MG460> will also<MG2532> perish<MG622> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>without<MG460> the<MG460> Law<MG460>, and all<MG3745> who<MG3745> have sinned<MG264> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>under<MG1722> the Law<MG3551> will be judged<MG2919> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>by the Law<MG3551>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>for <i>it is</i> not the hearers<MG202> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>of the Law<MG3551> <i>who</i> are <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>righteous<MG1342> before<MG3844> God<MG2316>, but the doers<MG4163> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>of the Law<MG3551> <i>who</i> will be justified<MG1344>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>For when<MG3752> Gentiles<MG1484> who do not have<MG2192> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>the Law<MG3551> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>instinctively<MG5449> perform<MG4160> the <i>requirements</i> of the Law<MG3551>, these<MG3778>, though not having<MG2192> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>the Law<MG3551>, are a law<MG3551> to themselves<MG1438>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>in that they show<MG1731> the work<MG2041> of the Law<MG3551> written<MG1123> in their hearts<MG2588>, their conscience<MG4893> testifying<MG4828> and their thoughts<MG3053> alternately<MG3342> accusing<MG2723> or<MG2228> else<MG2532> defending<MG626> them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>on the day<MG2250> when<MG3739>, according<MG2596> to my gospel<MG2098>, God<MG2316> will judge<MG2919> the secrets<MG2927> of mankind<MG444> through<MG1223> Christ<MG5547> Jesus<MG2424>. <p class="hdg">The Jews under the Law</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>But if<MG1487> you call<MG2028> yourself a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>Jew<MG2453> and rely<MG1879> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>upon<MG1879> the Law<MG3551> and boast<MG2744> in God<MG2316>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>and know<MG1097> <i>His</i> will<MG2307> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>distinguish<MG1381a> the things that matter<MG1308>, being instructed<MG2727> from the Law<MG3551>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>and are confident<MG3982> that you yourself<MG4572> are a guide<MG3595> to people<MG5185> who<MG5185> are<MG5185> blind<MG5185>, a light<MG5457> to those<MG3588> in darkness<MG4655>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>corrector<MG3810> of the foolish<MG878>, a teacher<MG1320> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[x]</a></span>the immature<MG3516>, possessing<MG2192> in the Law<MG3551> the embodiment<MG3446> of knowledge<MG1108> and of the truth<MG225>— <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span><i>you,</i> therefore<MG3767>, who teach<MG1321> someone<MG2087> else<MG2087>, do you not teach<MG1321> yourself<MG4572>? <i>You</i> who <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[y]</a></span>preach<MG2784> that one is not to steal<MG2813>, do you steal<MG2813>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><i>You</i> who say<MG3004> that one is not to commit<MG3431> adultery<MG3431>, do you commit<MG3431> adultery<MG3431>? <i>You</i> who loathe<MG948> idols<MG1497>, do you rob<MG2416> temples<MG2416>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>You who<MG3739> boast<MG2744> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[z]</a></span>in the Law<MG3551>, through<MG1223> your breaking<MG3847> the Law<MG3551>, do you dishonor<MG818> God<MG2316>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>For “THE NAME<MG3686> OF GOD<MG2316> IS BLASPHEMED<MG987> AMONG<MG1722> THE GENTILES<MG1484> BECAUSE<MG1223> OF YOU,” just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> it is written<MG1125>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>For indeed<MG3303a> circumcision<MG4061> is<MG5623> of<MG5623> value<MG5623> if<MG1437> you practice<MG4238> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[aa]</a></span>the Law<MG3551>; but if<MG1437> you are a violator<MG3848> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[ab]</a></span>of the Law<MG3551>, your circumcision<MG4061> has turned<MG1096> into<MG1096> uncircumcision<MG203>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>So<MG3767> if<MG1437> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[ac]</a></span>uncircumcised<MG203> man<MG203> keeps<MG5442> the requirements<MG1345> of the Law<MG3551>, will his uncircumcision<MG203> not be regarded<MG3049> as circumcision<MG4061>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And he who is physically<MG5449> uncircumcised<MG203>, if he keeps<MG5055> the Law<MG3551>, will he not judge<MG2919> you who<MG3588> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[ad]</a></span>though<MG1223> having the letter<MG1121> <i>of the Law</i> and circumcision<MG4061> are a violator<MG3848> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[ae]</a></span>of the Law<MG3551>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>For he is not a Jew<MG2453> who<MG3588> is one outwardly<MG1722, 5318>, nor<MG3761> is circumcision<MG4061> that which is outward<MG5318> in the flesh<MG4561>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/2-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>But he is a Jew<MG2453> who<MG3588> is one inwardly<MG2927>;
