Two recent Moroccan study cases are described using dynamic data originated by a distillation column and an industrial polyethylene process plant. The purpose of the wavelet scheme is to build on-line dynamic models. In both case studies, a comparison is carried out between the Haar wavelet mother response model and a linear difference equation model. Finally it concludes, on the base of the comparison of the process performances and the best responses, which may be useful to create an estimated on-line internal model control and its application towards model-predictive controllers (MPC). Although many studies have been conducted on the dynamic model of HDR bearings, few models can reflect phenomena such as dependency of experienced shear strain on initial history. In order to develop a model that can represent the dependency of experienced shear strain of HDR by Mullins effect, dynamic loading test was conducted using HDR specimen. The reaction of HDR was measured by applying a horizontal vibration using a hybrid actuator under a constant vertical load. Dynamic program analysis was also performed after dynamic loading test. The dynamic model applied in program analysis is a bilinear type double-target model. This model is modified from typical bilinear model. This model can express the nonlinear characteristics related to the initial history of HDR bearings. Based on the dynamic loading test and program analysis results, equivalent stiffness and equivalent damping ratio were calculated to evaluate the mechanical properties of HDR and the feasibility of the bilinear type double-target model was examined. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=base-isolation" title="base-isolation">base-isolation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bilinear%20model" title=" bilinear model"> bilinear model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20damping%20rubber" title=" high damping rubber"> high damping rubber</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=loading%20test" title=" loading test"> loading test</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127258/evaluation-of-high-damping-rubber-considering-initial-history-through-dynamic-loading-test-and-program-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127258.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">123</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28452</span> Performance Evaluation of Dynamic Signal Control System for Mixed Traffic Conditions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aneesh%20Babu">Aneesh Babu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20P.%20Anusha"> S. The present study focus on evaluating the performance of dynamic signal control systems for mixed traffic conditions. Data collected from four different approaches to a typical four-legged signalized intersection at Trivandrum city in the Kerala state of India is used for the study. Performance of three other dynamic signal control methods, namely (i) Non-sequential method (ii) Webster design for consecutive signal cycle using flow as input, and (iii) dynamic signal control using RFID delay as input, were evaluated. The evaluation of the dynamic signal control systems was carried out using a calibrated VISSIM microsimulation model. Python programming was used to integrate the dynamic signal control algorithm through the COM interface in VISSIM. The intersection delay obtained from different dynamic signal control methods was compared with the delay obtained from fixed signal control. Based on the study results, it was observed that the intersection delay was reduced significantly by using dynamic signal control methods. The dynamic signal control method using delay from RFID sensors resulted in a higher percentage reduction in delay and hence is a suitable choice for implementation under mixed traffic conditions. The developed dynamic signal control strategies can be implemented in ITS applications under mixed traffic conditions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20signal%20control" title="dynamic signal control">dynamic signal control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intersection%20delay" title=" intersection delay"> intersection delay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixed%20traffic%20conditions" title=" mixed traffic conditions"> mixed traffic conditions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RFID%20sensors" title=" RFID sensors"> RFID sensors</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156123/performance-evaluation-of-dynamic-signal-control-system-for-mixed-traffic-conditions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156123.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">106</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28451</span> Evaluating the Suitability and Performance of Dynamic Modulus Predictive Models for North Dakota’s Asphalt Mixtures</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Duncan%20Oteki">Duncan Oteki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andebut%20Yeneneh"> Andebut Yeneneh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daba%20Gedafa"> Daba Gedafa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nabil%20Suleiman"> Nabil Suleiman</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Most agencies lack the equipment required to measure the dynamic modulus (|E*|) of asphalt mixtures, necessitating the need to use predictive models. This study compared measured |E*| values for nine North Dakota asphalt mixes using the original Witczak, modified Witczak, and Hirsch models. The influence of temperature on the |E*| models was investigated, and Pavement ME simulations were conducted using measured |E*| and predictions from the most accurate |E*| model. The results revealed that the original Witczak model yielded the lowest Se/Sy and highest R² values, indicating the lowest bias and highest accuracy, while the poorest overall performance was exhibited by the Hirsch model. Using predicted |E*| as inputs in the Pavement ME generated conservative distress predictions compared to using measured |E*|. The original Witczak model was recommended for predicting |E*| for low-reliability pavements in North Dakota. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asphalt%20mixture" title="asphalt mixture">asphalt mixture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=binder" title=" binder"> binder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20modulus" title=" dynamic modulus"> dynamic modulus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MEPDG" title=" MEPDG"> MEPDG</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pavement%20ME" title=" pavement ME"> pavement ME</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=performance" title=" performance"> performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prediction" title=" prediction"> prediction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182251/evaluating-the-suitability-and-performance-of-dynamic-modulus-predictive-models-for-north-dakotas-asphalt-mixtures" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182251.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">46</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28450</span> Investigation of Extreme Gradient Boosting Model Prediction of Soil Strain-Shear Modulus</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ehsan%20Mehryaar">Ehsan Mehryaar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Reza%20Bushehri"> Reza Bushehri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the principal parameters defining the clay soil dynamic response is the strain-shear modulus relation. Predicting the strain and, subsequently, shear modulus reduction of the soil is essential for performance analysis of structures exposed to earthquake and dynamic loadings. Many soil properties affect soil’s dynamic behavior. In order to capture those effects, in this study, a database containing 1193 data points consists of maximum shear modulus, strain, moisture content, initial void ratio, plastic limit, liquid limit, initial confining pressure resulting from dynamic laboratory testing of 21 clays is collected for predicting the shear modulus vs. strain curve of soil. A model based on an extreme gradient boosting technique is proposed. A tree-structured parzan estimator hyper-parameter tuning algorithm is utilized simultaneously to find the best hyper-parameters for the model. The performance of the model is compared to the existing empirical equations using the coefficient of correlation and root mean square error. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=XGBoost" title="XGBoost">XGBoost</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hyper-parameter%20tuning" title=" hyper-parameter tuning"> hyper-parameter tuning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil%20shear%20modulus" title=" soil shear modulus"> soil shear modulus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20response" title=" dynamic response"> dynamic response</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141477/investigation-of-extreme-gradient-boosting-model-prediction-of-soil-strain-shear-modulus" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141477.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">201</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28449</span> Dynamic Response and Damage Modeling of Glass Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Composite Pipes: Numerical Investigation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ammar%20Maziz">Ammar Maziz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mostapha%20Tarfaoui"> Mostapha Tarfaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Said%20Rechak"> Said Rechak</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The high mechanical performance of composite pipes can be adversely affected by their low resistance to impact loads. Loads in dynamic origin are dangerous and cause consequences on the operation of pipes because the damage is often not detected and can affect the structural integrity of composite pipes. In this work, an advanced 3-D finite element (FE) model, based on the use of intralaminar damage models was developed and used to predict damage under low-velocity impact. The performance of the numerical model is validated with the confrontation with the results of experimental tests. The results show that at low impact energy, the damage happens mainly by matrix cracking and delamination. The model capabilities to simulate the low-velocity impact events on the full-scale composite structures were proved. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composite%20materials" title="composite materials">composite materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20velocity%20impact" title=" low velocity impact"> low velocity impact</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FEA" title=" FEA"> FEA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20behavior" title=" dynamic behavior"> dynamic behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=progressive%20damage%20modeling" title=" progressive damage modeling"> progressive damage modeling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107609/dynamic-response-and-damage-modeling-of-glass-fiber-reinforced-epoxy-composite-pipes-numerical-investigation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107609.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">172</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28448</span> Dynamic Model of Automatic Loom on SimulationX</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Jomartov">A. With increasing automatic loom speeds, the dynamic loads on their separate mechanisms and moving joints sharply increase. Dynamic research allows us to determine the weakest mechanisms of the automatic loom. The modern automatic loom consists of a large number of structurally different mechanisms. These are cam, lever, gear, friction and combined cyclic mechanisms. The modern automatic loom contains various mechatronic devices: A device for the automatic removal of faulty weft, electromechanical drive warp yarns, electronic controllers, servos, etc. In the paper, we consider the multibody dynamic model of the automatic loom on the software complex SimulationX. SimulationX is multidisciplinary software for modeling complex physical and technical facilities and systems. The multibody dynamic model of the automatic loom allows consideration of: The transition processes, backlash at the joints and nodes, the force of resistance and electric motor performance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=automatic%20loom" title="automatic loom">automatic loom</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamics" title=" dynamics"> dynamics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=model" title=" model"> model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multibody" title=" multibody"> multibody</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SimulationX" title=" SimulationX"> SimulationX</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59167/dynamic-model-of-automatic-loom-on-simulationx" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59167.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">348</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28447</span> Combining the Dynamic Conditional Correlation and Range-GARCH Models to Improve Covariance Forecasts</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Piotr%20Fiszeder">Piotr Fiszeder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marcin%20Fa%C5%82dzi%C5%84ski"> Marcin Fałdziński</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peter%20Moln%C3%A1r"> Peter Molnár</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The dynamic conditional correlation model of Engle (2002) is one of the most popular multivariate volatility models. However, this model is based solely on closing prices. It has been documented in the literature that the high and low price of the day can be used in an efficient volatility estimation. We, therefore, suggest a model which incorporates high and low prices into the dynamic conditional correlation framework. Empirical evaluation of this model is conducted on three datasets: currencies, stocks, and commodity exchange-traded funds. The utilisation of realized variances and covariances as proxies for true variances and covariances allows us to reach a strong conclusion that our model outperforms not only the standard dynamic conditional correlation model but also a competing range-based dynamic conditional correlation model. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=volatility" title="volatility">volatility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DCC%20model" title=" DCC model"> DCC model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20and%20low%20prices" title=" high and low prices"> high and low prices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=range-based%20models" title=" range-based models"> range-based models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=covariance%20forecasting" title=" covariance forecasting"> covariance forecasting</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107388/combining-the-dynamic-conditional-correlation-and-range-garch-models-to-improve-covariance-forecasts" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107388.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">183</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28446</span> Dynamic Process Monitoring of an Ammonia Synthesis Fixed-Bed Reactor</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bothinah%20Altaf">Bothinah Altaf</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gary%20Montague"> Gary Montague</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elaine%20B.%20Martin"> Elaine B. The process exhibits complex dynamic behavior due to the presence of heat recycling and feed quench. One limitation of static PLS model in this situation is that it does not take account of the process dynamics and hence dynamic PLS was used. Although it showed, superior performance to static PLS in terms of prediction, the monitoring scheme was inappropriate hence adaptive PLS was considered. A limitation of adaptive PLS is that non-conforming observations also contribute to the model, therefore, a new adaptive approach was developed, robust adaptive dynamic PLS. This approach updates a dynamic PLS model and is robust to non-representative data. The developed methodology showed a clear improvement over existing approaches in terms of the modeling of the reactor and the detection of faults. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ammonia%20synthesis%20fixed-bed%20reactor" title="ammonia synthesis fixed-bed reactor">ammonia synthesis fixed-bed reactor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20partial%20least%20squares%20modeling" title=" dynamic partial least squares modeling"> dynamic partial least squares modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recursive%20partial%20least%20squares" title=" recursive partial least squares"> recursive partial least squares</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=robust%20modeling" title=" robust modeling"> robust modeling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37994/dynamic-process-monitoring-of-an-ammonia-synthesis-fixed-bed-reactor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37994.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28445</span> Design of Reinforced Concrete (RC) Walls Considering Shear Amplification by Nonlinear Dynamic Behavior</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sunghyun%20Kim">Sunghyun Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hong-Gun%20Park"> Hong-Gun Park</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the performance-based design (PBD), by using the nonlinear dynamic analysis (NDA), the actual performance of the structure is evaluated. In a previous article, we have shown that modeling and implementing Genetic Algorithms (GA) using the software product line (SPL) paradigm is very appreciable because they constitute a product family sharing a common base of code. In the present article we propose to extend the use of the feature model of the genetic algorithms family to model the potential states of the GA in what is called a Dynamic Software Product Line. The objective of this paper is the systematic generation of a reconfigurable architecture that supports the dynamic of the GA and which is easily deduced from the feature model. The resultant GA is able to perform dynamic reconfiguration autonomously to fasten the convergence process while producing better solutions. Another important advantage of our approach is the exploitation of recent advances in the domain of dynamic SPLs to enhance the performance of the GAs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-adaptive%20genetic%20algorithms" title="self-adaptive genetic algorithms">self-adaptive genetic algorithms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=software%20engineering" title=" software engineering"> software engineering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20software%20product%20lines" title=" dynamic software product lines"> dynamic software product lines</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reconfigurable%20architecture" title=" reconfigurable architecture"> reconfigurable architecture</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37396/a-dynamic-software-product-line-approach-to-self-adaptive-genetic-algorithms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37396.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">285</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28443</span> Performance Investigation of UAV Attitude Control Based on Modified PI-D and Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ebrahim%20Hassan%20Kapeel">Ebrahim Hassan Kapeel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Mohsen%20Kamel"> Ahmed Mohsen Kamel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hossan%20Hendy"> Hossan Hendy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yehia%20Z.%20Elhalwagy"> Yehia Z. Due to the enormous number of applications that UAVs can achieve, the number of applied control theories used for them has increased in recent years. These small fixed-wing UAVs are suffering high non-linearity, sensitivity to disturbances, and coupling effects between their channels. In this work, the nonlinear dynamic inversion (NDI) control lawisdesigned for a nonlinear small fixed-wing UAV model. The NDI is preferable for varied operating conditions, there is no need for a scheduling controller. Moreover, it’s applicable for high angles of attack. For the designed flight controller validation, a nonlinear Modified PI-D controller is performed with our model. A comparative study between both controllers is achieved to evaluate the NDI performance. Simulation results and analysis are proposed to illustrate the effectiveness of the designed controller based on NDI. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UAV%20dynamic%20model" title="UAV dynamic model">UAV dynamic model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=attitude%20control" title=" attitude control"> attitude control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20PID" title=" nonlinear PID"> nonlinear PID</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20inversion" title=" dynamic inversion"> dynamic inversion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150437/performance-investigation-of-uav-attitude-control-based-on-modified-pi-d-and-nonlinear-dynamic-inversion" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150437.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">110</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28442</span> High-Fidelity 1D Dynamic Model of a Hydraulic Servo Valve Using 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics and Electromagnetic Finite Element Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=D.%20Henninger">D. Increased model accuracy was achieved by analyzing the detailed three-dimensional electromagnetic behavior of the solenoids and flow behavior through the spool valve body for a set of relevant operating conditions, thereby allowing the accurate mapping of flow and magnetic forces on the moving valve body, in lieu of representing the respective forces by lower-order models or by means of simplistic textbook correlations. Focusing on the determinant factors of technology adoption at the firm level, the study will contribute to the broader study of resource base view (RBV) and dynamic capability (DC). There is no study connecting directly the TOE factors to the DCs, this paper proposes technology adoption as a functional competence/capability which mediates a relationship between technology adoptions with firm’s performance. The study wants to show a conceptual model of the indirect effects of DCs at the firm level, which can be key predictors of firm performance in dynamic business environment. The results of this research is mostly relevant to top corporate executives (BOD) or top management team (TMT) who seek to provide some supporting ‘hardware’ content and condition such as technological factors, organizational factors, environmental factors, and to improve firm's ‘software ‘ ability such as adaptive capability, absorptive capability and innovative capability, in order to achieve a successful technology adoption in organization. There are also mediating factors which are elaborated at this paper; timing and external network. A further research for showing its empirical results is highly recommended. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=technology%20adoption" title="technology adoption">technology adoption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TOE%20framework" title=" TOE framework"> TOE framework</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20capability" title=" dynamic capability"> dynamic capability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resources%20based%20view" title=" resources based view "> resources based view </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31897/the-determinant-factors-of-technology-adoption-for-improving-firms-performance-toward-a-conceptual-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31897.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">332</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28440</span> On the Use of Analytical Performance Models to Design a High-Performance Active Queue Management Scheme</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Jamali">Shahram Jamali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samira%20Hamed"> Samira Hamed </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the open issues in Random Early Detection (RED) algorithm is how to set its parameters to reach high performance for the dynamic conditions of the network. Although the evidence shows the clear value of economic, social and environmental aspects, the limitations of most of the social enterprises are the expanding impact of social and environmental aspects through the normal market mechanism. This is because the major sources of revenues of social enterprises derive from the business advocates who merely wish to support society and environment by using products and services of social enterprises rather than expect the satisfaction and the distinctive advantage of products and services. Thus, social enterprises cannot reach the achievement as other businesses do. The relevant concepts from the literature review revealed that dynamic capability is the ability to sense, integrate and reconfigure internal resources and utilize external resources to adapt to changing environments, create innovation and achieve competitive advantage. The objective of this research is to study the influence of dynamic capability that affects competitive advantage and sustainable performance, as well as to determine important elements of dynamic capability. The researchers developed a conceptual model from the related concepts and theories of dynamic capability. A conceptual model will support and show the influence of dynamic capability on competitive advantage and sustainable performance of social enterprises. The 230 organizations in South-East Asia served as participants in this study. The results of the study were analyzed by the structural equation model (SEM) and it was indicated that research model is consistent with empirical research. The results also demonstrated that dynamic capability has a direct and indirect influence on competitive advantage and sustainable performance. Moreover, it can be summarized that dynamic capability consists of the five elements: 1) the ability to sense an opportunity; 2) the ability to seize an opportunity; 3) the ability to integrate resources; 4) the ability to absorb resources; 5) the ability to create innovation. The study recommends that related sectors can use this study as a guideline to support and promote social enterprises. The focus should be pointed to the important elements of dynamic capability that are the development of the ability to transform existing resources in the organization and the ability to seize opportunity from changing market. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20capability" title="dynamic capability">dynamic capability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20enterprise" title=" social enterprise"> social enterprise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainable%20competitive%20advantage" title=" sustainable competitive advantage"> sustainable competitive advantage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainable%20performance" title=" sustainable performance"> sustainable performance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92779/dynamic-capability-an-exploratory-study-applied-to-social-enterprise-in-south-east-asia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92779.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">250</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28438</span> Dynamic Modeling of Wind Farms in the Jeju Power System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dae-Hee%20Son">Dae-Hee Son</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sang-Hee%20Kang"> Sang-Hee Kang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soon-Ryul%20Nam"> Soon-Ryul Nam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we develop a dynamic modeling of wind farms in the Jeju power system. Experimental results show that the proposed mapping approach provides significant performance improvements when compared to those using static routing. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Multi-Processor%20Systems-on-Chip%20%28MPSoCs%29" title="Multi-Processor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs)">Multi-Processor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Network-on-Chip%20%28NoC%29" title=" Network-on-Chip (NoC)"> Network-on-Chip (NoC)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heterogeneous%20architectures" title=" heterogeneous architectures"> heterogeneous architectures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20mapping%20heuristics" title=" dynamic mapping heuristics"> dynamic mapping heuristics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22269/dynamic-communications-mapping-in-noc-based-heterogeneous-mpsocs" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22269.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">533</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28435</span> An Online Mastery Learning Method Based on a Dynamic Formative Evaluation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jeongim%20Kang">Jeongim Kang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moon%20Hee%20Kim"> Moon Hee Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seong%20Baeg%20Kim"> Seong Baeg Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper proposes a novel e-learning model that is based on a dynamic formative evaluation. The conception of a virtual sensor based on other standard sensors is a good alternative. In this paper, a data-driven model using a Convolutional Neural Network is proposed to estimate the flow of the compressor. To fit the model to our dataset, we tested different loss functions. We show in our application that a Dynamic Time Warping based loss function called DILATE leads to better dynamical performance than the vanilla mean squared error (MSE) loss function. As well known facts, the machining stability is greatly determined by the dynamic characteristics of the spindle tool system. Therefore, understanding the factors affecting dynamic behavior of a spindle tooling system is a prerequisite in dominating the final machining performance of machine tool system. To this purpose, a physical spindle unit was employed to assess the dynamic characteristics by vibration tests. Then, a three-dimensional finite element model of a high-speed spindle system integrated with tool holder was created to simulate the dynamic behaviors. For modeling the angular contact bearings, a series of spring elements were introduced between the inner and outer rings. The spring constant can be represented by the contact stiffness of the rolling bearing based on Hertz theory. The interface characteristic between spindle nose and tool holder taper can be quantified from the comparison of the measurements and predictions. According to the results obtained from experiments and finite element predictions, the vibration behavior of the spindle is dominated by the bending deformation of the spindle shaft in different modes, which is further determined by the stiffness of the bearings in spindle housing. Also, the spindle unit with tool holder shows a different dynamic behavior from that of spindle without tool holder. This indicates the interface property between tool holder and spindle nose plays an dominance on the dynamic characteristics the spindle tool system. Overall, the dynamic behaviors the spindle with and without tool holder can be successfully investigated through the finite element model proposed in this study. The prediction accuracy is determined by the modeling of the rolling interface of ball bearings in spindles and the interface characteristics between tool holder and spindle nose. Besides, identifications of the interface characteristics of a ball bearing and spindle tool holder are important for the refinement of the spindle tooling system to achieve the optimum machining performance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contact%20stiffness" title="contact stiffness">contact stiffness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20characteristics" title=" dynamic characteristics"> dynamic characteristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spindle" title=" spindle"> spindle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tool%20holder%20interface" title=" tool holder interface"> tool holder interface</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75188/modeling-of-the-dynamic-characteristics-of-a-spindle-with-experimental-validation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75188.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">298</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28431</span> Create a Dynamic Model in Project Control and Management </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamed%20Saremi">Hamed Saremi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahla%20Saremi"> Shahla Saremi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, control and management of construction projects is evaluated through developing a dynamic model in which some means are used in order to evaluating planning assumptions and reviewing the effectiveness of some project control policies based on previous researches about time, cost, project schedule pressure management, source management, project control, adding elements and sub-systems from cost management such as estimating consumption budget from budget due to costs, budget shortage effects and etc. using sensitivity analysis, researcher has evaluated introduced model that during model simulation by VENSIM software and assuming optimistic times and adding information about doing job and changes rate and project is forecasted with 373 days (2 days sooner than forecasted) and final profit $ 1,960,670 (23% amount of contract) assuming 15% inflation rate in year and costs rate accordance with planned amounts and other input information and final profit. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20planning" title="dynamic planning">dynamic planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cost" title=" cost"> cost</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time" title=" time"> time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=performance" title=" performance"> performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=project%20management" title=" project management"> project management</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30245/create-a-dynamic-model-in-project-control-and-management" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30245.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">478</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28430</span> SAP-Reduce: Staleness-Aware P-Reduce with Weight Generator</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lizhi%20Ma">Lizhi Ma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chengcheng%20Hu"> Chengcheng Hu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fuxian%20Wong"> Fuxian Wong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Partial reduce (P-Reduce) has set a state-of-the-art performance on distributed machine learning in the heterogeneous environment over the All-Reduce architecture. The dynamic P-Reduce based on the exponential moving average (EMA) approach predicts all the intermediate model parameters, which raises unreliability. It is noticed that the approximation trick leads the wrong way to obtaining model parameters in all the nodes. In this paper, SAP-Reduce is proposed, which is a variant of the All-Reduce distributed training model with staleness-aware dynamic P-Reduce. SAP-Reduce directly utilizes the EMA-like algorithm to generate the normalized weights. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm, the experiments are set based on a number of deep learning models, comparing the single-step training acceleration ratio and convergence time. It is found that SAP-Reduce simplifying dynamic P-Reduce outperforms the intermediate approximation one. The empirical results show SAP-Reduce is 1.3× −2.1× faster than existing baselines. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collective%20communication" title="collective communication">collective communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decentralized%20distributed%20training" title=" decentralized distributed training"> decentralized distributed training</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=P-Reduce" title=" P-Reduce"> P-Reduce</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188657/sap-reduce-staleness-aware-p-reduce-with-weight-generator" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188657.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">32</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28429</span> Dynamic vs. Static Bankruptcy Prediction Models: A Dynamic Performance Evaluation Framework</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Mahdi%20Mousavi">Mohammad Mahdi Mousavi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Bankruptcy prediction models have been implemented for continuous evaluation and monitoring of firms. With the huge number of bankruptcy models, an extensive number of studies have focused on answering the question that which of these models are superior in performance. In practice, one of the drawbacks of existing comparative studies is that the relative assessment of alternative bankruptcy models remains an exercise that is mono-criterion in nature. Further, a very restricted number of criteria and measure have been applied to compare the performance of competing bankruptcy prediction models. In this research, we overcome these methodological gaps through implementing an extensive range of criteria and measures for comparison between dynamic and static bankruptcy models, and through proposing a multi-criteria framework to compare the relative performance of bankruptcy models in forecasting firm distress for UK firms. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bankruptcy%20prediction" title="bankruptcy prediction">bankruptcy prediction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20envelopment%20analysis" title=" data envelopment analysis"> data envelopment analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=performance%20criteria" title=" performance criteria"> performance criteria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=performance%20measures" title=" performance measures"> performance measures</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/52050/dynamic-vs-static-bankruptcy-prediction-models-a-dynamic-performance-evaluation-framework" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/52050.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">248</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28428</span> Exploring SSD Suitable Allocation Schemes Incompliance with Workload Patterns</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae%20Young%20Park">Jae Young Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hwansu%20Jung"> Hwansu Jung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong%20Tae%20Kim"> Jong Tae Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Whether the data has been well parallelized is an important factor in the Solid-State-Drive (SSD) performance. Due to the enormous number of applications that UAVs can achieve, the number of applied control theories used for them has increased in recent years. These small fixed-wing UAVs are suffering high non-linearity, sensitivity to disturbances, and coupling effects between their channels. In this work, the nonlinear dynamic inversion (NDI) control law is designed for a nonlinear small fixed-wing UAV model. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=attitude%20control" title="attitude control">attitude control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20PID" title=" nonlinear PID"> nonlinear PID</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20inversion" title=" dynamic inversion"> dynamic inversion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149836/performance-investigation-of-unmanned-aerial-vehicles-attitude-control-based-on-modified-pi-d-and-nonlinear-dynamic-inversion" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149836.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">110</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28426</span> Influence of a Company’s Dynamic Capabilities on Its Innovation Capabilities</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lovorka%20Galetic">Lovorka Galetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeljko%20Vukelic"> Zeljko Vukelic </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The advanced concepts of strategic and innovation management in the sphere of company dynamic and innovation capabilities, and achieving their mutual alignment and a synergy effect, are important elements in business today. This paper analyses the theory and empirically investigates the influence of a company&rsquo;s dynamic capabilities on its innovation capabilities. A new multidimensional model of dynamic capabilities is presented, consisting of five factors appropriate to real time requirements, while innovation capabilities are considered pursuant to the official OECD and Eurostat standards. After examination of dynamic and innovation capabilities indicated their theoretical links, the empirical study testing the model and examining the influence of a company&rsquo;s dynamic capabilities on its innovation capabilities showed significant results. In the study, a research model was posed to relate company dynamic and innovation capabilities. One side of the model features the variables that are the determinants of dynamic capabilities defined through their factors, while the other side features the determinants of innovation capabilities pursuant to the official standards. With regard to the research model, five hypotheses were set. The study was performed in late 2014 on a representative sample of large and very large Croatian enterprises with a minimum of 250 employees. The research instrument was a questionnaire administered to company top management. For both variables, the position of the company was tested in comparison to industry competitors, on a fivepoint scale. In order to test the hypotheses, correlation tests were performed to determine whether there is a correlation between each individual factor of company dynamic capabilities with the existence of its innovation capabilities, in line with the research model. The results indicate a strong correlation between a company&rsquo;s possession of dynamic capabilities in terms of their factors, due to the new multi-dimensional model presented in this paper, with its possession of innovation capabilities. Based on the results, all five hypotheses were accepted. Ultimately, it was concluded that there is a strong association between the dynamic and innovation capabilities of a company.&nbsp; <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
