Is my father<MH1> still<MH5750> alive<MH2416a>?” But his brothers<MH251> could<MH3201> not answer<MH6030a> him, for they were terrified<MH926> in his presence<MH6440>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Then Joseph<MH3130> said<MH559> to his brothers<MH251>, “Please<MH4994> come<MH5066> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>closer<MH5066> to me.” And they came<MH5066> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>closer<MH5066>. And he said<MH559>, “I am your brother<MH251> Joseph<MH3130>, whom<MH834> you sold<MH4376> to Egypt<MH4714>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Now<MH6258> do not be grieved<MH6087a> or angry<MH2734> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>with yourselves<MH5869> because<MH3588> you sold<MH4376> me here<MH2008>, for God<MH430> sent<MH7971> me ahead<MH6440> of you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>to save<MH4241> lives<MH4241>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>For the famine<MH7458> <i>has been</i> in the land<MH776> these<MH2088> two years<MH8141>, and there are still<MH5750> five<MH2568> years<MH8141> in which<MH834> there<MH369> will<MH369> be<MH369> neither<MH369> plowing<MH2758> nor<MH369> harvesting<MH7105a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>So God<MH430> sent<MH7971> me ahead<MH6440> of you to ensure<MH7760> for you a remnant<MH7611> on the earth<MH776>, and to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>keep<MH2421a> you alive<MH2421a> by a great<MH1419> deliverance<MH6413>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Now<MH6258>, therefore, it was not you who sent<MH7971> me here<MH2008>, but God<MH430>; and He has made<MH7760> me a father<MH1> to Pharaoh<MH6547> and lord<MH113> of all<MH3605> his household<MH1004>, and ruler<MH4910> over all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Hurry<MH4116> and go<MH5927> up<MH5927> to my father<MH1>, and say<MH559> to him, ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> your son<MH1121> Joseph<MH3130> says<MH559>: “God<MH430> has made<MH7760> me lord<MH113> of all<MH3605> Egypt<MH4714>; come<MH3381> down<MH3381> to me, do not delay<MH5975>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>For you shall live<MH3427> in the land<MH776> of Goshen<MH1657>, and you shall be near<MH7138> me, you and your children<MH1121> and your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>grandchildren<MH1121>, and your flocks<MH6629> and your herds<MH1241> and all<MH3605> that you have. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>There<MH8033> I will also provide<MH3557> for you, for there are still<MH5750> five<MH2568> years<MH8141> of famine<MH7458> <i>to come,</i> and you and your household<MH1004> and all<MH3605> that you have would be impoverished<MH3423>.”’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Behold<MH2009>, your eyes<MH5869> see<MH7200>, and the eyes<MH5869> of my brother<MH251> Benjamin<MH1144> <i>see,</i> that it is my mouth<MH6310> which is speaking<MH1696> to you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Now you must tell<MH5046> my father<MH1> of all<MH3605> my splendor<MH3519b> in Egypt<MH4714>, and all<MH3605> that you have seen<MH7200>; and you must hurry<MH4116> and bring<MH3381> my father<MH1> down<MH3381> here<MH2008>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Then he fell<MH5307> on his brother<MH251> Benjamin’s<MH1144> neck<MH6677> and wept<MH1058>, and Benjamin<MH1144> wept<MH1058> on his neck<MH6677>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And he kissed<MH5401a> all<MH3605> his brothers<MH251> and wept<MH1058> on them, and afterward<MH310, 3651> his brothers<MH251> talked<MH1696> with him. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Now when the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>news<MH6963> was heard<MH8085> in Pharaoh’s<MH6547> house<MH1004> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>that Joseph’s<MH3130> brothers<MH251> had come<MH935>, it <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>pleased<MH3190, 5869> Pharaoh<MH6547> and his servants<MH5650>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Then Pharaoh<MH6547> said<MH559> to Joseph<MH3130>, “Say<MH559> to your brothers<MH251>, ‘Do<MH6213a> this<MH2088>: load<MH2943> your livestock<MH1165> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>go<MH1980, 935> to the land<MH776> of Canaan<MH3667a>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>and take<MH3947> your father<MH1> and your households<MH1004> and come<MH935> to me; and I will give<MH5414> you the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>best<MH2898> of the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>, and you will eat<MH398> the fat<MH2459> of the land<MH776>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Now you are ordered<MH6680>, ‘Do<MH6213a> this<MH2088>: <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>take<MH3947> wagons<MH5699> from the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> for your little<MH2945> ones<MH2945> and for your wives<MH802>, and bring<MH5375> your father<MH1> and come<MH935>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>And do not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>concern<MH2347, 5869> yourselves<MH5869> with your property<MH3627>, for the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>best<MH2898> of all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> is yours.’” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Then the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> did<MH6213a> so<MH3651>; and Joseph<MH3130> gave<MH5414> them wagons<MH5699> according<MH5921> to the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>command<MH6310> of Pharaoh<MH6547>, and gave<MH5414> them provisions<MH6720> for the journey<MH1870>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>To <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>each<MH3605, 376> of them he gave<MH5414> changes<MH2487> of garments<MH8071>, but to Benjamin<MH1144> he gave<MH5414> three<MH7969> hundred<MH3967> <i>pieces of</i> silver<MH3701> and five<MH2568> changes<MH2487> of garments<MH8071>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And to his father<MH1> he sent<MH7971> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>the following<MH2088>: ten<MH6235> male<MH2543> donkeys<MH2543> loaded<MH5375> with the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>best<MH2898> things<MH2898> of Egypt<MH4714>, ten<MH6235> female<MH860> donkeys<MH860> loaded<MH5375> with grain<MH1250>, bread<MH3899>, and sustenance<MH4202> for his father<MH1> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>on the journey<MH1870>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>So he sent<MH7971> his brothers<MH251> away<MH7971>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>as they departed<MH1980>, he said<MH559> to them, “Do not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>quarrel<MH7264> on the journey<MH1870>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Then they went<MH5927> up<MH5927> from Egypt<MH4714>, and came<MH935> to the land<MH776> of Canaan<MH3667a>, to their father<MH1> Jacob<MH3290>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And they told<MH5046> him, saying<MH559>, “Joseph<MH3130> is still<MH5750> alive<MH2416a>, and indeed<MH3588> he is ruler<MH4910> over all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>.” But <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[x]</a></span>he was stunned<MH6313>, for he did not believe<MH539> them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>When they told<MH1696> him all<MH3605> the words<MH1697> of Joseph<MH3130> that he had spoken<MH1696> to them, and when he saw<MH7200> the wagons<MH5699> that Joseph<MH3130> had sent<MH7971> to carry<MH5375> him, then the spirit<MH7307> of their father<MH1> Jacob<MH3290> revived<MH2421a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/45-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Then Israel<MH3478> said<MH559>, “It is enough<MH7227a>;
