Re-Nylon」プロジェクトだ。ブランドが扱うすべてのナイロン素材を、海洋廃棄物から作られた再生ナイロンECONYL®(エコニール®)へ100%転換する公約を掲げ、そのミッションを遂行している。プラダが地球のために考える、再生可能な真の豊かさとは?</p><h2 class="p-contents__article-headings-h2">反骨精神を宿し、進化を続ける「ナイロン」</h2><p class="p-contents__article-text">世界の誰もが知る、プラダのナイロン素材のバッグ。モードの意識革命を巻き起こした記念碑的名品が誕生したのは、1984年のこと。それは、ランウェイでは装飾過剰な80sルックが台頭し、高級バッグといえばレザー製品が主流だった時代。皮革製品を扱う老舗、プラダ創業家の3代目として、1978年からメゾンを引き継いだミウッチャ・プラダは、大胆にも工業用ナイロン素材で黒のバックパックをクリエイトした。当時の高級志向とは真逆の、前代未聞の発想だった。</p><p class="p-contents__article-text">今でこそプラダの代名詞となった、運命的なナイロン素材の名は「ポコノ」。軍隊向けのテントやパラシュート製品に使用されていた特殊なマテリアルであり、軽く丈夫で、はっ水性に優れながらも美しい光沢感を特徴とした。型破りな3代目ミウッチャはそんな未知の素材に着目し、老舗の職人技と融合してみせた。やがて、モダニティ極まるナイロンバッグは、業績が低迷していたプラダ復活の起爆剤に。この伝説のバッグをきっかけに、プラダは世界的人気ブランドへの道を駆け上がった。</p><p class="p-contents__article-text">ナイロンはつまり、プラダのDNAそのもの。ナイロンがハイファッションの主役に躍り出てから37年経った今も、既存の体制に挑戦し続けるプラダ・スピリットは健在だ。2019年には、新たに「プラダ Re-Nylon」に使われるのは、アクアフィル社が開発した再生ナイロン繊維エコニール®。世界中の海や埋立地から回収されたプラスチック廃棄物や漁網、工場から回収された繊維廃棄物など、100%廃棄物から再生された環境配慮型素材だ。集められた廃棄物は、ナイロンを最大限取り出せるよう分類・洗浄された後、解重合処理され、浄化され、新しいポリマーに変換され、そして糸となり、新しいナイロンへと再生する。エコニール®の繊維は、品質を損なうことなく無限にリサイクルできる、真にイノベーティブなマテリアルだ。</p><p class="p-contents__article-text">さらに、プラダ・グループはユネスコと連携し、2020年から海洋サステナビリティーに関する教育プログラム「SEA BEYOND(シー ビヨンド)」を推進している。「プラダ Re-Nylon」の売り上げの一部で支援されている同プログラムは、若い世代の海洋保護に対する意識向上を目指し、世界10都市の中高生を対象に開始されたもの。対象校の生徒たちは4カ月間にわたって海洋汚染問題や海洋リテラシー全般について学び、海洋保全の啓発キャンペーンを自ら企画するプロジェクト内容に。これまでに約300人の学生に向けて実施してきたが、今年からは学生だけでなく地域コミュニティーやプラダ・グループの従業員まで対象を広げ、教育の側面からもサステナビリティーを支えていく。</p><div
