this is the sea of salt. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and the thirteenth year they revolted. <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and they shall smite the Rephaims in Ashtaroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And the Horites in their mountain Seir to Ael Paran, which is by the wilderness. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>And they shall turn back and shall come to En-Mishpat; this is Kadesh; and they shall smite all the field of the Amalekites and also of the Amorites dwelling in Hazezon Tamar. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And there shall come forth the king of Sodom and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela (this is Zoar), and they shall set in array with them the war in the valley of Siddim, <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>With Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal, king of nations, and Amraphel, king of Shinar, Arioch, king of Alasar; four kings with five.<p> <A name="11"></a><p class="hdg">Abram Rescues Lot<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And the valley of Siddim, pit, pit of pitch; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah shall flee and shall fall there; and those having remained shall flee to the mountain. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And they will take all the substance of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their food, and will go away. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And they shall take Lot and his substance, the son of Abram's brother, and will go away, and he will dwell in Sodom.<p> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And he having escaped, will come and declare to Abram, the Hebrew; and he dwelt by the oaks of Mamra, the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol, and the brother of Aner: and these having a covenant with Abram. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And Abram shall hear that his brother was carried away captive, and he will draw forth his trained, born in his house, eighteen and three hundred, and will pursue, even to Dan. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And he will divide against them at night, he and his servants, and will smite them, and will pursue them even to Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And he shall turn back all the substance, and also Lot, his brother, and having turned back his cattle, and also the women and the people.<p> <A name="18"></a><p class="hdg">Melchizedek Blesses Abram<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../psalms/110.htm">Psalm 110:1–7</a>; this is the king's valley. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And Melchise-dek, king of Salem, bringing forth bread and wine: and he is priest of the most high God.<p> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>And he will bless him, and will say, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessing the heavens and the earth.<p> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/14-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>And praised be the most high God who delivered thine oppressors into thy hand;
