moving across much of the western U.S.. Unlike the previous storm in which Arctic air from Canada was involved, milder Pacific air is more dominant with the current system and moderate to heavy rain has overspread farther south into central California. In the higher elevation such as the Sierra Nevada, heavy snow is again likely. Moisture will then continue to penetrate into much of the Rockies today and moves off into the Northern Plains and the Midwest on Sunday. In the East, waves of low pressure along a cold front are bringing wintry precipitation from the northern Mid-Atlantic into the Northeast. The moisture is expected to move eastward rather quickly and precipitation should be off the coast later tonight.
