class="chap"><A name="2"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-1.htm#aramaic"><b>1</b></a></span>In the twentythird year of Yoash, son of Ekhazyah, King of Yehuda, Yahuakhaz, son of Yahu was made king over Israel in Samaria for seventeen years. <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>And he did evil before LORD JEHOVAH, and he walked in the sins of Yorbaam, son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, and he did not turn aside from them. <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>And the anger of LORD JEHOVAH was provoked against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Khazail, King of Edom, and into the hand of BarHadad, son of Khezael, all their days. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And Yahuakhaz prayed before LORD JEHOVAH, and LORD JEHOVAH heard him because he saw the affliction of Israel with which the King of Edom oppressed them. <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH gave a Savior to Israel, and they went out from under the hand of Edom, and the children of Israel dwelt in quietness in their tents like that of yesterday, and like that from the day before yesterday. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>However they did not pass from the sins of Yorbaam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, and they walked in them, also idol worship remained in Samaria. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And a people was not left to Yahuakhaz but only fifty horsemen and twenty chariots and ten thousand Foot Soldiers, because the King of Edom destroyed them and made them as dust to tread on. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And the rest of the words of Yahuakhaz and everything that he did and his heroism, behold they are written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And Yahuakhaz fell asleep with his parents, and he was buried in Samaria, and Yehoash his son reigned after him.<p> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>In the year thirty seventh year of Yoash King of Yehuda, Yehoash, son of Yahuakhaz, son of Yahu was made king over Israel in Samaria for thirteen years. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And he did evil before LORD JEHOVAH, and he did not turn aside from all of the sins of Yorbaam, son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, but he walked in them. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And the rest of the words of Yehoash, and everything that he did, and his heroism, and that which he fought with Amutsia, King of Yehuda, behold, they are written in the book of The Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And Yehoash slept with his parents, and Yorbaam his son sat on his throne, and Yehoash was buried in Samaria with the Kings of Israel.<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And Elisha was taken ill with a mortal disease in him, and Yehoash, King of Israel, came down to him and wept on his face and said: &#8220;My father! My father! The chariot of Israel and its horsemen!&#8221; <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And Elisha said to him: &#8220;Take a bow and arrows!&#8221; And he took a bow and arrows. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And he said to the King of Israel: &#8220;Put your hand on the bow.&#8221; And he set his hand, and Elisha laid his hands on the hands of the King. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And he said: &#8220;Open the window toward the East.&#8221; And he opened it. And Elisha said to him: &#8220;Shoot!&#8221; And he shot an arrow, and he said: &#8220;The arrow of redemption of LORD JEHOVAH and an arrow of redemption in Edom, and you shall strike the Edomites in Aphaq until you finish them!&#8221; <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And he said to him: &#8220;Take an arrow.&#8221; And he took, and he said: &#8220;Strike on the ground.&#8221; And he struck three times and stopped. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And the Prophet of God was angry with him and said: &#8220;Striking five or six times and then you would strike the Edomites until you finish them; now you shall strike Edom three times.&#8221;<p> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And Elisha died and they buried him, and robbers of Moab came against the land that year. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And when they were burying a man, they saw a band of robbers, and they threw the man into the tomb of Elisha, and the man went touching the bones of Elisha, and he came to life and stood on his feet.<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And Khezayel, King of Edom, oppressed Israel all the days of Yahuakhaz. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH pitied them and had compassion upon them, and he turned toward them because of his covenant that was with Abraham and with Isaaq and with Yaqob, and LORD JEHOVAH did not choose to destroy them and did not cast them out from before him until then.<p> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And Khezael, King of Edom, died, and BarHadad his son reigned after him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/2_kings/13-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And Yehoash son of Yahuakhaz returned, and he took the cities from BarHadad son of Khezael which he had taken from Yahuakhaz his father in war.
