from His waist<MH4975> and downward<MH4295> <i>there was</i> the appearance<MH4758> of fire<MH784>, and from His waist<MH4975> and upward<MH4605> like the appearance<MH4758> of a glow<MH2096>, like gleaming<MH5869> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>metal<MH2830>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And He extended<MH7971> the form<MH8403> of a hand<MH3027> and took<MH3947> me by the hair<MH6734> of my head<MH7218>; and the Spirit<MH7307> lifted<MH5375> me up<MH5375> between<MH996> earth<MH776> and heaven<MH8064> and brought<MH935> me in the visions<MH4759a> of God<MH430> to Jerusalem<MH3389>, to the entrance<MH6607> of the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>north<MH6828> gate<MH8179> of the inner<MH6442> <i>courtyard,</i> where<MH834, 8033> the seat<MH4186> of the idol<MH5566> of jealousy<MH7068>, which<MH834> provokes<MH7065> to<MH7065> jealousy<MH7065>, <i>was located.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>And behold<MH2009>, the glory<MH3519b> of the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478> <i>was</i> there<MH8033>, like the appearance<MH4758> which<MH834> I saw<MH7200> in the plain<MH1237>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Then He said<MH559> to me, “Son<MH1121> of man<MH120>, raise<MH5375> your eyes<MH5869> now<MH4994> toward<MH1870> the north<MH6828>.” So I raised<MH5375> my eyes<MH5869> toward<MH1870> the north<MH6828>, and behold<MH2009>, to the north<MH6828> of the altar<MH4196> gate<MH8179> <i>was</i> this<MH2088> idol<MH5566> of jealousy<MH7068> at the entrance<MH872>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And He said<MH559> to me, “Son<MH1121> of man<MH120>, do you see<MH7200> what<MH4100> they are doing<MH6213a>, the great<MH1419> abominations<MH8441> which<MH834> the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478> are committing<MH6213a> here<MH6311>, so that I would be<MH7368> far<MH7368> from My sanctuary<MH4720>? But yet<MH5750> you will see<MH7200> still<MH7725> greater<MH1419> abominations<MH8441>!” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Then He brought<MH935> me to the entrance<MH6607> of the courtyard<MH2691a>, and when I looked<MH7200>, behold<MH2009>, a hole<MH2356> in the wall<MH7023>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And He said<MH559> to me, “Son<MH1121> of man<MH120>, now<MH4994> dig<MH2864> through the wall<MH7023>.” So I dug<MH2864> through the wall<MH7023>, and behold<MH2009>, an entrance<MH6607>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Then He said<MH559> to me, “Go<MH935> in<MH935> and see<MH7200> the wicked<MH7451a> abominations<MH8441> that they are committing<MH6213a> here<MH6311>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>So I entered<MH935> and looked<MH7200>, and behold<MH2009>, every<MH3605> form<MH8403> of crawling<MH7431> things<MH7431> and animals<MH929> <i>and</i> detestable<MH8263> things<MH8263>, with all<MH3605> the idols<MH1544> of the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478>, were carved<MH2707> on the wall<MH7023> all<MH5439> around<MH5439>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And standing<MH5975> in front<MH6440> of them were seventy<MH7657> elders<MH2205> of the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478>, with Jaazaniah<MH2970> the son<MH1121> of Shaphan<MH8227b> standing<MH5975> among<MH8432> them, each<MH376> man<MH376> <i>with</i> his censer<MH4730> in his hand<MH3027>; and the fragrance<MH6282b> of the cloud<MH6051> of incense<MH7004> was rising<MH5927>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then He said<MH559> to me, “Do you see<MH7200>, son<MH1121> of man<MH120>, what<MH834> the elders<MH2205> of the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478> are doing<MH6213a> in the dark<MH2822>, each<MH376> man<MH376> in the rooms<MH2315> of his carved<MH4906> images<MH4906>? For they say<MH559>, ‘The LORD<MH3068> does not see<MH7200> us; the LORD<MH3068> has abandoned<MH5800a> the land<MH776>.’” <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And He said<MH559> to me, “Yet<MH5750> you will see<MH7200> still<MH7725> greater<MH1419> abominations<MH8441> which<MH834> they are committing<MH6213a>!” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Then He brought<MH935> me to the entrance<MH6607> of the gate<MH8179> of the LORD’S<MH3068> house<MH1004> which<MH834> <i>was</i> toward<MH413> the north<MH6828>; and behold<MH2009>, women<MH802> were sitting<MH3427> there<MH8033> weeping<MH1058> for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>Tammuz<MH8542>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And He said<MH559> to me, “Do you see<MH7200> <i>this,</i> son<MH1121> of man<MH120>? Yet<MH5750> you will see<MH7200> still<MH7725> greater<MH1419> abominations<MH8441> than<MH4480> these<MH428>!” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Then He brought<MH935> me into the inner<MH6442> courtyard<MH2691a> of the LORD’S<MH3068> house<MH1004>. And behold<MH2009>, at the entrance<MH6607> to the temple<MH1964> of the LORD<MH3068>, between<MH996> the porch<MH197> and the altar<MH4196>, <i>were</i> about twenty-five<MH6242, 2568> men<MH376> <i>with</i> their backs<MH268> to the temple<MH1964> of the LORD<MH3068> while their faces<MH6440> were toward the east<MH6924b>; and they were <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>prostrating<MH2331c> themselves eastward<MH6924b> toward the sun<MH8121>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And He said<MH559> to me, “Do you see<MH7200> <i>this,</i> son<MH1121> of man<MH120>? Is<MH7043> it a<MH7043> trivial<MH7043> thing<MH7043> for the house<MH1004> of Judah<MH3063> to commit<MH6213a> the abominations<MH8441> which<MH834> they have committed<MH6213a> here<MH6311>, that they have filled<MH4390> the land<MH776> with violence<MH2555> and provoked<MH3707> Me to<MH3707> anger<MH3707> repeatedly<MH7725>? Yet behold<MH2009>, they are <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>putting<MH7971> the twig<MH2156> to their nose<MH639>! <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/8-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Therefore, I indeed<MH1571> will deal<MH6213a> in wrath<MH2534>.
