September 1963 entstand der erweiterte Staatenbund <a href="/wiki/Malaysia" title="Malaysia">Malaysia</a>, woraufhin die Fluggesellschaft im November 1963 den Namen <i>Malaysian Airways Limited</i> erhielt, bis sie im Dezember 1966 in <i>Malaysia-Singapore Airlines</i> (kurz: <i>MSA</i>) umbenannt wurde, da Singapur die Föderation am 9. Der französische Designer <a href="/wiki/Pierre_Balmain" title="Pierre Balmain">Pierre Balmain</a> entwarf das Aussehen des <a href="/wiki/Sarong_kebaya" class="mw-redirect" title="Sarong kebaya">Sarong kebaya</a> für Singapore Airlines. Außerdem wurde die erfolgreiche Marketingidee, das <a href="/wiki/Singapore_Girl" title="Singapore Girl">Singapore Girl</a> eingeführt. Von nun an werden <a href="/wiki/Flugbegleiter" title="Flugbegleiter">Flugbegleiterinnen</a>, die diesem Ideal entsprechen, als Kabinenpersonal eingestellt, wobei die Nationalität dabei im Hintergrund steht. Die Stewardessen sind noch heute Hauptelement der Werbung. Das zu Beginn 22 Ziele umfassende Streckennetz wuchs in den 1970er Jahren schnell an. Viele Destinationen auf dem <a href="/wiki/Indien" title="Indien">indischen</a> Subkontinent und in <a href="/wiki/Ostasien" title="Ostasien">Ostasien</a> kamen hinzu; erste <a href="/wiki/Boeing_747" title="Boeing 747">„Jumbos“</a> und <a href="/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas_DC-10" title="McDonnell Douglas DC-10">McDonnell Douglas DC-10</a> ergänzen die Flotte. </p><p>In zwei kurzen Phasen im Jahr 1977 und zwischen 1979 und 1981 bot Singapore Airlines in Zusammenarbeit mit <a href="/wiki/British_Airways" title="British Airways">British Airways</a> Überschallflüge zwischen <a href="/wiki/London" title="London">London</a> und dem <a href="/w/index.php?title=Flughafen_Singapur-Paya_Lebar&action=edit&redlink=1" class="new" title="Flughafen Singapur-Paya Lebar (Seite nicht vorhanden)">Flughafen Singapur-Paya Lebar</a> mit der <a href="/wiki/Concorde" title="Concorde">Concorde</a> an. Zu diesem Anlass wurde die British-Airways-Concorde mit dem <a href="/wiki/Luftfahrzeugkennzeichen" title="Luftfahrzeugkennzeichen">Luftfahrzeugkennzeichen</a> <i>G-BOAD</i> auf der einen Seite des Flugzeugrumpfes in SIA-Farben bemalt. Die Flüge endeten, nachdem die malaysische Regierung eine andere Flugroute erlassen und Indien Überschallflüge in seinem Luftraum verboten hatte. Vor allem der letzte Aspekt machte den Concorde-Einsatz unmöglich. </p><p>Die 1980er Jahre waren geprägt von der stetigen Modernisierung der Flotte durch <a href="/wiki/Boeing_747#747-300" title="Boeing 747">Boeing 747-300</a>, <a href="/wiki/Boeing_757#Boeing_757-200" title="Boeing 757">Boeing 757-200</a>, <a href="/wiki/Airbus_A300" title="Airbus A300">Airbus A300</a> und <a href="/wiki/Airbus_A310" title="Airbus A310">Airbus A310</a>. So wurden 1994 für 10,3 Milliarden <a href="/wiki/US-Dollar" title="US-Dollar">US-Dollar</a> 22 zusätzliche <a href="/wiki/Boeing_747" title="Boeing 747">Boeing 747</a> und 30 <a href="/wiki/Airbus_A340#A340-300" title="Airbus A340">Airbus A340-300</a> bestellt. Ein Jahr darauf kaufte man 77 <a href="/wiki/Boeing_777" title="Boeing 777">Boeing 777</a> für 12,7 Milliarden US-Dollar, gefolgt von einer Bestellung über zehn <a href="/wiki/Airbus_A340#A340-500" title="Airbus A340">Airbus A340-500</a>-Ultra<a href="/wiki/Langstreckenflugzeug" title="Langstreckenflugzeug">langstreckenflugzeuge</a> im Wert von 2,2 Milliarden US-Dollar im Jahr 1998. </p><p>2000 machte SIA als weltweiter Erstkunde des <a href="/wiki/Airbus_A380" title="Airbus A380">Airbus A380</a> von sich reden. Die damalige Bestellung von zehn Exemplaren wurde sechs Jahre später auf der <a href="/wiki/Farnborough_International_Airshow" title="Farnborough International Airshow">Farnborough International Airshow</a> in England um weitere neun aufgestockt. Das erste Flugzeug dieses Typs wurde am 15. September 2010 wurde Goh Choon Phong neuer <a href="/wiki/Chief_Executive_Officer" title="Chief Executive Officer">Chief Executive Officer</a> von Singapore Airlines und trat die Nachfolge von Chew Choon Seng, der Ende Dezember 2010 in den Ruhestand ging, an. Der im Jahr 2010 47-jährige Goh Choon Phong kam im Jahr 1990 zu Singapore Airlines, nachdem er das Massachusetts Institute of Technology mit einem Master in Elektrotechnik und Informatik sowie drei Bachelor-Abschlüssen in Informatik, Maschinenbau und Wissenschaftlicher Betriebsführung und Kognitionswissenschaften absolviert hatte. Er war bisher in Positionen im gehobenen Management sowohl in Singapur als auch im Ausland tätig. Momentan bekleidet er die Position des Executive Vice President Marketing and the Regions. Dieses Amt trat er Anfang des Jahres an. Zuvor war er vier Jahre Präsident von Singapore Airlines Cargo. Gegenwärtig (Sep. 2010) amtiert er außerdem als Vorstandsvorsitzender von <a href="/wiki/Silk_Air" class="mw-redirect" title="Silk Air">Silk Air</a>. </p><p>Am 4.
