Truly I say to you, no not even a stone shall be left here upon a stone, which will not be thrown down.”</span> </p><p class="hdg">Signs of the End of the Age</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And <i>as</i> He was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him in private, saying, “Tell us, when these things will be? And what <i>is</i> the sign of Your coming, and the consummation of the age?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>And Jesus answering, said to them, <span class="red">“Take heed, lest anyone mislead you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And you will begin to hear of wars and rumors of wars. Behold, do not be alarmed; for it is necessary to take place, but the end is not yet. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in <i>various</i> places. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And all these <i>are</i> <i>the</i> beginning of birth pains.</span> </p><p class="hdg">Witnessing to All Nations<br /><span class="cross">(Mark 13:10-13; Luke 21:10-19)</span></p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Then will they deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations on account of My name. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And then many will fall away, and they will betray one another, and will hate one another; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>and many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And because lawlessness is to be multiplied, the love of the many will grow cold. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>But the <i>one</i> having endured to <i>the</i> end, he will be saved. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed in the whole earth, for a testimony to all the nations; and then the end will come. </p><p class="hdg">The Abomination of Desolation<br /><span class="cross">(Mark 13:14-23; Luke 21:20-24)</span></p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Therefore when you shall see ‘the abomination of desolation,’<span class="fn"><a href="#fna" title="Daniel 9:27; 11:31; 12:11">a</a></span> having been spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in <i>the</i> holy place—the <i>one</i> reading, let him understand— <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>then those in Judea, let them flee to the mountains; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>the <i>one</i> on the housetop, do not let him come down to take anything out of his house; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>and the <i>one</i> in the field, do not let him return back to take his cloak. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>And woe to those having in womb, and to the <i>ones</i> nursing infants in those days! <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>But pray that your flight might not be in winter, nor on a Sabbath. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from <i>the</i> beginning of <i>the</i> world until now, <i>and</i> never shall be. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved; but because of the elect, those days will be shortened. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here <i>is</i> the Christ,’ or ‘Here,’ do not believe <i>it</i>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Behold, I have foretold you. </p><p class="hdg">The Return of the Son of Man<br /><span class="cross">(Mark 13:24-27; Luke 21:25-28)</span></p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Therefore if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go forth; <i>or</i> ‘Behold, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>For just as the lightning comes forth from <i>the</i> east and shines as far as <i>the</i> west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>For wherever the carcass may be, there the vultures will be gathered. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>And immediately after the tribulation of those days:</p><p class="indent1stlinered">‘The sun will be darkened,</p><p class="indentred2"> and the moon will not give its light,</p><p class="indentred1"> and the stars will fall from the sky,</p><p class="indentred2"> and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’<span class="fn"><a href="#fnb" title="Isaiah 13:10; 34:4; Joel 2:10">b</a></span> </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.<span class="fn"><a href="#fnc" title="See Daniel 7:13-14">c</a></span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>And He will send His angels with a great trumpet call, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from <i>the</i> ends of the heavens to the ends thereof. </p><p class="hdg">The Lesson of the Fig Tree<br /><span class="cross">(Mark 13:28-31; Luke 21:29-33)</span></p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>Now learn the parable of the fig tree: When its branch already may have become tender and it puts forth leaves, you know that the summer <i>is</i> near. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>So also you, when you see all these things, know that He is<span class="fn"><a href="#fnd" title="Or ‘it is’">d</a></span> near, at <i>the</i> doors. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>Truly I say to you that this generation will not have passed away until all these things shall have taken place. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>The heaven and the earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away. </p><p class="hdg">Readiness at Any Hour<br /><span class="cross">(Genesis 6:1-7; Mark 13:32-37; Luke 12:35-48)</span></p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>But concerning that day and hour, no one knows, not even the angels of the heavens, nor the Son,<span class="fn"><a href="#fne" title="BYZ and TR do not include ‘nor the Son.’">e</a></span> except the Father only. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>For as <i>were</i> the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>For as in those days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until that day Noah entered into the ark, <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>and they were unaware until the flood came and took away all; so also will be the coming of the Son of Man. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>Then two will be in the field: one is taken, and one is left. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>Two <i>women</i> will be grinding at the mill: one is taken, and one is left. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>Therefore keep watch, for you do not know on what day your Lord comes. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span>And know this, that if the master of the house had known in what time of night the thief comes, he would have watched and not have allowed his house to be broken into. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span>Because of this, you also be ready, for the Son of Man comes in that hour you do not expect. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/24-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span>Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has set over his household, to give to them the food in season?
