In March, the White House <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20180708054659/http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/380050-trump-bans-most-transgender-americans-from-serving-in-the-military">issued</a> a memorandum laying out its revised plans to move forward with the policy, which would disqualify transgender troops from serving in the military “except under limited circumstances.” A federal court has since blocked the ban from taking hold.</p><p>The 33 retired officers and national security officials penned one of nine friend-of-the-court briefs filed Tuesday urging the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit to uphold the court order stalling the ban on transgender individuals serving in the military.
