Sistem ini digunakan oleh EPA AS untuk mengubah pembacaan polutan mentah, yang dinyatakan dalam µg/m3 atau <i>ppb</i> , menjadi AQI (skala dari 0 hingga 500). Ini digunakan untuk semua nilai AQI yang dilaporkan di situs <a href='http://airnow.gov'>airnow.gov</a> .</p> <p>Konsep di balik <i>siaran sekarang</i> adalah untuk mengkompensasi " <i>rata-rata 24 jam</i> ", yang harus digunakan saat mengubah konsentrasi menjadi AQI.
