The concept of unity is rooted in the nature of God Himself, as seen in the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—existing in perfect unity. This divine model serves as the foundation for the unity expected among believers.<br><br>In the New Testament, the call for unity is emphasized in the teachings of Jesus and the apostles. Jesus prayed for the unity of His followers in <a href="/john/17-21.htm">John 17:21</a>, saying, "that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." This prayer highlights the importance of unity as a testimony to the world of God's love and truth.<br><br>The Apostle Paul frequently addressed the theme of unity in his epistles. In <a href="/ephesians/4-3.htm">Ephesians 4:3-6</a>, he exhorts believers to "make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. In <a href="/matthew/9-10.htm">Matthew 9:10-13</a>, Jesus dined with tax collectors and sinners, demonstrating that His mission was to call all people to repentance and faith.<br><br>The early church continued this inclusive mission.
